Wii U Satisfaction Thread

Just saw this over in the Project CARS thread:
Andy Tudor (director) said:
So we were asked by Nintendo if we'd like to show Project CARS at this particular conference since Nintendo continue to show interest in Project CARS for the Wii U. The conference focuses on indie developers like ourselves and they believed the crowdfunding aspect of it would be of particular interest to their audience given that a lot of indie developers use other systems like Kickstarter or Indie-Go-Go to get their games made.

Right. First of all, thanks for being curious because I had a blast!

You buy Karaoke tickets - I bought 1 ticket for 100 yen, that gets you 1 hour or 60 songs - whichever you use up first.

The patch was about 350MB.

When I got into the app there was an option to see the chart, so I thought that'd be a good place to start - there were a lot of artists I didn't recognise but lots of AKB48.

I picked a song and the song started playing (midi) on the TV with my Mii being the main vocalist and the rest of the band randomly generated Miis.

The next song was more of a ballad and my Mii was singing whilst four Miis in green sparkly suits danced around me. The crowd was waving their glow sticks in the air.

All in all, it was a great laugh even if I couldn't sing any of the songs - I just let it play.

I also thought it was cool that they even have a fast-forward and rewind feature.

Oh, so to answer your question, yes, it works outside of Japan. I live in the UK. :)
Great news! Thanks for checking :)

Do any of MHU, NSMBU or Nintendoland fit on the basic 8 gb HD version?

Got one for my birthday today, yeay!

Correction, it's a 3GB harddrive son

Their's 5GB reserved for the OS

Feel free to download NSMB though and the Rayman demo !

Time to invest in a cheap 500gb HD and a y-cable..

Found out MHU is 6,7gb and Nintedoland over 3gig so...

Just bought a Wii U Pro Controller and I am even more satisfied.

Having the option to place the gamepad on the holder and play with the pro controller is godsend IMO.

Played Black Ops 2 and Sonic Racing like that. NSMBU not working like this is a shame.
Have not tried other games or what other games work like that.

If the 2 gamepad thing ever becomes a reality I was thinking of having the option of one of them mirroring the tv and the other one the gamepad that you play with.

edit: I am one of those wierd guys freaked out about overusing or doing something to the gamepad so the pro controller is very welcome and the fact that it is great makes it better.

Is it just me that realizes that the virtual console is the biggest waste of potential ever. Nintendo can essentially come out with a console with little to no launch games but if they were to have their virtual console up and running day 1 with top ten games of each of their previous consoles that would be a quite successful launch in my opinion.

Hopefully this time around we won't be getting like 1 virtual console games a week, upload at least 2 of each console.

And hopefully we get the top GCN releases as well (probably won't see any of the Wii-makes like Metroid and Pikmin, I bet). I wanna fill my 1TB HDD with Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Skies of Arcadia, Eternal Darkness etc...

Hi guys, I just bought Fifa 13, to have more options to play online... (also, to return to the franchise, which I haven't touched since 2006)...

I played the demo with the pro controller and it was fun, and the game was pretty cheap; so it was hard to ignore the deal.

anyone wants to play online? =P

Sorry, I had bought the PS3 version.

Do we know if we will get a FIFA 14?

I had fun reformatting my external to replace the Wii U file system.

Linux wouldn't register that it existed, and Windows disk manager didn't want to display it at first.

I'm still enjoying my Wii U, btw.

I realized that i wasn't really using it, the only DD games I'd purchased were Darksiders II, Mighty Switch force(deleted), and the VC games. I transfered my saves and games to the internal and removed the drive.

That, and I finally gave in and hacked my Wii... more for curiosity's sake than anything else. That Hard drive is now connected to the Wii. I'm trying to back up my Gamecube collection using Devolution

They are getting my 5 year old cousin a basic set this week for his birthday. He will be playing some Wii games for kids on it since his Wii died last week. Any recomendations though on which Wii U games would be good for him? I might get him one for his birthday! Serious question here so help will be appreciated.

Maybe... Lego City Undercover, New Super Mario U, or Nintendoland?

I just ordered a WiiU! A Deluxe system for 300 Euros is a pretty good deal IMO. Should arrive by mail tomorrow, hopefully still in time to buy Punch Out for 30 cents, because I adore that game.

The Wii was the most disappointing Nintendo console I ever owned and I'm an oldschool Nintendo fanboy. I played a lot of Smash Brothers and Mario Kart (but not nearly as much as the N64 and GCN versions, not even close), some Mario and Zelda, but that's about it. I don't care about motion controls.

The WiiU, following in it's footsteps, seemed like a system of half-assed ideas and underpowered to boot. With nothing in sight that excited me, it was the first Nintendo console I didn't buy at/near launch since the NES (I was 5 at the time, so forgive me).

But a while ago I played Nintendoland at my friend's place and I was impressed by the sheer quality of the game. Nintendo really dropped the ball on communicating this, but it's actually a very, very good collection of awesome mini-games. It's unlike any of the typical "AAA" games like Assassin's Creed or Darksiders II but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a cheap game to produce and it is surely more fun to play.

I really like the tablet controller as well. It's pretty damn cool device actually. But once again, I think N. screwed themselves by not having a true killer app that really demonstrates the possibilities. Seriously, are they incompetent or just lazy? I'm a software developer myself and I really wonder what's up at Nintendo HQ.

But back to WiiU praise, I'm picking up NSMBU, which I will probably like. I might get Lego City because it seems like great fun, but I don't normally like open world games, so I'm still on the fence about that one.

The one game I'm really looking forward to is W101, but still no release date :(

So, can you play the games from an external drive/usb stick or do you have to transfer the game to the internal storage first?

I think they should've just bundled Nintendo Land with every system cause without getting to play it yourself it's kind of a hard sell, particularly at $60 (hell at least bundle it with a Motion Plus remote or something). Moving forward I could see them including it as a digital game with newer console only SKUs like some of the bundles they have now.

As for the tablet, one of the killer apps for me was simply off TV play, ironically the most basic thing that can be done with it.
Yes those 3 are good, although NSMBU is on the tough side IMO, NSMBwii is easier.

I would add Sonic Racing if he likes racing games or NFSMWU.
Yeah I was gonna mention NFSMWU, might be hard on his own but it's still fun wreaking havoc regardless, and the co-driver mode works well if he has someone better to play with to compensate on the controls (albeit still a bit crazy as I found out when playing with my nephews and nieces a few weeks back).

Don't forget eShop stuff, maybe set up an account for him/parents and give a gift card.

External. Nintendo also promised support for multiple external drives.

Nintendoland should have been integrated to the OS. Actually get to be the first thing you see when booting the console, with a half being the games and the other half being portals to things like Settings and shit.

Then update it with new mini games to promote new releases and money is made.

Got the MH3U bundle yesterday. Outside of playing MH, the console seems really... barren if I can call it that. Went onto the eShop and there was nothing I hadn't already seen before. Tried out the demo for Zombie U and I might get that at some point. There isn't anything compelling going on and I'm a person that likes games. What's supposed to interest the casuals in this thing?

I'm having a ball with Monster Hunter and the Pro Controller is seriously incredible. If it wasn't for the glossy face it'd be my favourite controller ever

LEGO City Undercover should be your NUMBER ONE CHOICE.

Seriously, for a 5 year old, it will be a dream come true. It'd be the ultimate "cool" gift, and by extension you'll be the coolest five year old cousin!

Watch him sit in front of the screen and play it for hours and hours.

He may give up on NSMB:U (too hard), and get bored with Nintendo Land, but LEGO City Undercover is something he will treasure!

I realized my 1tb external is going to waste connected to my Wii U. I live in Japan and there just are no indie games... Kind of drives me crazy while I wait for Trine 2 Director's Cut. I'm going to pick up a Y cable and hook up an old portable 300gb drive.

Yeah I'm not quite sure why there are no indie games in Japan yet.. It sucks.
I know about the publisher thing but Japan should really start moving past that now..

Wii U car adapter, apparently.

This was from my Christmas Roadtrip along the gulf coast. The car has a 115v outlet, I wouldn't have tried to plug my PS3 into it as It'd have probably blown the fuse. Gotta love that low power draw, I used a short extension cord to power both the Wii U and the Gamepad.

Edit: I turned it on just long enough to take this photo. I pulled it from the bag while playing it.

Does anyone think DLC for Assassin's Creed 3 will ever go on sale or decrease in price? Has DLC ever been discounted on other systems outside of Steam?
