Sterling and Sessler did a good job. I'm definitely more interested to see what I think of this game than before. Might end up grabbing it sooner rather than later.

If you use that logic the GotG is GTA IV or Mario Galaxy. And almost no one has played the game for the community to properly judge it as a whole.
well, I can't speak for anyone elsebut the whole idea that game reviewing is a checklist and that the games that have the fewest "issues" should be rewarded... that's exactly what I can't stand about reviewing. I've had so much more fun with incredibly flawed experiences than soulless, flat "zero-issue" games. Granted, there are those that are both incredibly polished and inventive, fun, etc. (Portal comes to mind), but those are a rarity and I just find this obsession with polish to be so tired and counterproductive.
I'm not saying it's acceptable to release broken games (though I am a staunch defender of anything and everything Obsidian), but I just want a more holistic approach to criticism.

Ah well, it's probably for the best. I can forget about the game until release day and then go pick it up.
Its all about managing expectations, when they get away from you. you're going to be disappointed. Arkham City was a good example.
I just know there will be a few gaffers here that are hoping/expecting TLOU to handle combat in some meaningful or profound way, because thats whats been discussed in the previous previews. I'm telling anyone now to not be surprised if this game has a few more gunfights/ enemy encounters than you would prefer, and don't be surprised if a lot of them don't really buck convention. I would almost guarantee some wave combat where there are mooks everywhere, and you have to kill them to advance. It is a tired cliche but its not going to ruin the experience for me.
Any time you can go into a game with minimal hopes and expectations, the better.

Also quite possibly one of the most hacked, at least the PS3 version was. True story, saw a guy spawn crates, build a fort with said crates, and then proceed to shoot out of a small opening he made. Also saw UAVs flying around being controlled by players shooting missles at everyone as well as some sort of disco mode thing that turn the level into flashing colors and low gravity so everyone floating through the air.
No public demo.

After reading the Polygon review I find it hard to believe that so many other reviewers are finding the game to be "perfect". I'm not saying the much lower 7.5 is justified, but somebody actually pointing out the flaws make it feel like this mass of 10/10 and 5/5 games are just as unjustifiable.
Still, seems like it'll be great and as I have already planned on doing, I will be buying it at some point.

I almost always ignore game reviews. I usually see no need for them. Every high profile game gets a 9 or better pretty much everywhere anyway, so what's the point? But it's times like this where I remember just why game reviews are important to our industry. For you see, the fanboy rage that reviews like TLOU Gamespot review causes makes it all worthwhile. Oh the comments section is hilarious. This is why game reviews exist. Sure they're pretty much worthless most of the time, but every now and then the fanboy rageis just priceless. I could read and laugh at that comments section for hours.

Nice to see that TLoU receives such huge praise from the critics, ND deserves it. This game is much better than Uncharted. I can assure you guys, you won't be disappointed I tested localised content of TLoU and Uncharted 3, so I have some perspective

Very few all things considered. On the big screen I expect it to look very clean overall. The demo certainly was.

Dude he's asking on the basis of reviews, and and on that basis it is absurd to claim it's safely game of the gen when there are higher scored games. And the average will only go down when there are more reviews, as happens with every game.

None of these games are worthy of near perfect ratings, I wouldn't even give any of them a 9, they all have issues that should stop them from getting perfect scores.
that's where you lost me, you honestly believe NONE of those titles even deserve a 9?
I can understand the argument nothing should ever score a 10/10 but what the heck do you think deserves a 9 if you believe none of the ones listed do

Other sites have pointed as well ? Majority just have a different opinion Again i never get the idea why people dismiss all reviews for one reviews and also 10/10 doesnt mean game is perfect and flaws pointed by polygon might not be for others ?

Somehow it does not look as impressive as UC2 or UC3 used to look ... as you said maybe due to the matureness of this gen its getting harder to get impressed. I can't believe people said "we don't need next gen yet". Looking at the PS4 games, I said we need it right now. Imagine how much more ND could have done with this game on the PS4. I hope they do a PS4 version for this game.
