Naughty Dog games typically hold there value for a while right? I was looking at the prices of uncharted and they didn't seem to go down too quickly. I just don't want to buy it and 3 weeks later it's on sale for 40 bucks. Kinda want to go into this day 1. Haven't done that with a game in a long time.

The fear of this games story being spoiled by a random stupid YouTube comment or thread post is getting larger and larger. Trying to have a black out but sometimes that isn't enough, especially with it getting into peoples hand early! I'm going into hibernation till the 14th see ya!

May main worry is account suicides or broken spoiler tags

Depends on the sales. Naughty Dog games usually go down in price about 4-6 months after the release. But it all depends on the price.

GOW: Ascension drops to half price here in Portugal 1 month after release, but it is well known that it did not sell well.

My guess is that Sony will adress TLUS as the E3 conference, stating the reviews to keep it in people's minds

The spoilers aspect will likely be what drives me to pre-order. It seems people are being particularly malicious with this game.
Yeah, I've been spoiled on far too many games already, and from the sound of things, The Last of Us has a pretty incredible ending.

If that was spoiled for me too...

NOPE! That will not happen! I will purchase TLoS at launch, play through it, and avoid any areas [on the Internet] that I deem as "dangerous". Probably just designate myself to purely NeoGAF, since other forums aren't exactly trustworthy when it comes to spoilers. ~_~

That should hopefully provide adequate protection!

Still a single player game for me and I can't justify spending 60 dollars for just 10 hours of entertainment. Rent at redbox for me.

My first playthrough ...

The Last of Us' one big similarity with Uncharted, and by far its biggest drawback, is the nonsensical durability of enemies, where basic humans can often survive up to three point-blank headshots with all but the most deadly of weapons. Joel's weapon sway and the bullet restrictions make it clear that a guns blazing approach isn't preferable, but for those moments where combat is necessary, it would have been more sensible to not have every mook be a miniature Tony Montana. Seeing a man take a bullet to the face and get back up breaks the otherwise laudable believability of the game's world, after all.

This is really turning me off.

I think you are just unfortunate in that you accidentally saw one of the very very few negative comments from the many reviews ... most unfortunate. It's always a good idea to avoid reviews that say games are perfect or masterpieces. That way you can make a balanced choice.

Geeze, okay, okay, I get the picture. Ordered from Amazon. Let the fuck go of my arm, reviewers.

Edit: Amazon says it's their number one best-selling game right now, FWIW.

Wow nice scores! I want to pick up the game, but my Blu-ray drive doesn't work and DD doesn't sit well with me. I might cave in and just get the DD version.

TLoU would have to be pretty special in order to dethrone Uncharted 3 as my favorite title this gen.

We shall see.

I liked UC2 better personally, but yeah, ND has ruled the roost this generation when it comes to the best of what console gaming has had to offer. I would say no other developer has even come close to their accomplishments. Four amazing single player experiences completely unhampered and, in fact, boistered by "tacked on" multiplayer that was a high cut above the rest when it came to enjoyable, engaging multiplayer content.

And this is why I shall laugh with glee if anti-used DRM comes to both consoles next gen. People not willing to support the developers don't deserve to play masterpieces like this.

I won't laugh with glee, but this is 100% true. I only buy single player games and never rent.

The airplane set piece in U3 is amazing, best set piece I've seen in a game. But I liked U2 more also

Oh...oh my God at these reviews

I think I am legitimately shocked. I don't trust reviews as far as I can throw them, but this seems so goddamn ridiculously high all across the board that this game really must be something.

I went from optimistic to genuinely excited, first time for a Naughty Dog game this generation. Holy SHIT. Good news

This. I am getting more and more frustrated with game reviews being basically only about story and not telling us anything of value for gameplay. Part of the reason I read reviews is not just for opinions but for info if there is a best way to play the game.

There's not a best way of playing it per se as mentioned by a review. If you wanna stealth it works, if you wanna gun blaze it works, it depends what you prefer and what your style is or what would be best suited for a given situation. You can easen the pressure from a group by showing them that you are armed with a gun but yeah, aiming is swaying and it's not always easy to hit.

For me, melee is highly preferable as it's much easier than a shooting fight.

Gonna play this all night starting in one hour probably.

I feel the review score does not reflect the review itself. There are far too many positives about the game to just up and decide it's worse than the game Remember Me. This tells me that the reviewer simply didn't do a thorough job reviewing the game. Things like level design, artwork, audio, voice acting, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc..... simply were not included or factored into the score.

That's just my opinion of course.

Perhaps, the reviewer simply started at 10 then deduced points for things that weren't polished or fleshed out. Maybe he was just comparing it to other survival horror games and came up with the score based on how it compared to others.

In the end, it just seems like the review score doesn't reflect the review but, it's nice to see a reviewer that posts what he thinks and doesn't simply follow suit with everyone else.

Arguing about the discrepancy between written review and the score given is totally legitimate criticism, however bringing up the Remember Me review is silly. First of all Gies reviewed Remember Me and Kollar reviewed The Last of Us. The reviews represents the views of two totally separate people's experiences. Review sites are composed of multiple reviewers and they don't all have the same opinions on things. It very well could be that had Kollar reviewed Remember Me that he might of scored it lower than TLOU, or had Gies reviewed TLOU that he might of reviewed it higher than Remember me. Even with that said though comparing the scores directly is not what scores are meant for. The scores are meant to speak only to the piece of content they are reviewing, they are not a unilateral values assigned to games meant to form a hierarchical pyramid.

Since I like the slow, methodical gameplay for games that are worthy of such an approach, I'll probably take 20 hours.

Sounds like a plan.

I have no idea how good or bad this game is but... GTA IV. need I say more?

I don't see what's wrong with this. I've rented and beat almost every Sony exclusive on PS3 for cheap. If Sony has no drm for ps4, it will probably be my main console of choice just so I can be able to rent or get used games for cheap. None of my PS3 games that I bought are new. All are used from Ebay at 60 or 75% off what you would get at retail stores.
