PS4 Has Fifty Percent Lead Over Microsoft's Xbox One, Says Strategy Analytics Survey

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Just like when Rick Perry had a huge lead over other candidates with months to go before the people decided for themselves nationwide, right?

Note that I'm a huge fan of the PS4, as well, before jumping on your conclusions mat.

More like, Rick Perry had a big lead until he opened his mouth and people heard what he had to say.

Sony and Microsoft have already spoken. The facts are out there.

No... what I'm meant to say is MS is launching their console at about the same time as Sony... therefore unlike Sony they won't suffer by losing their previous fan-base to their competitor

Example being how people couldn't wait for the ps3 and went and bought the 360 since it was the only next gen console on the market

But that's not an advantage. That's now a level playing field in which even with a year head start, PS3 beat 360 in sales. Not sure how that helps your argument that MS is sitting in the driver's seat of sales here.

People should stop with the hyperbole that MS is going to drop dead at launch or any time after it. Both consoles will do great.

That said, the PS4 had the uphill battle in NA. A pretty steep one. Before all the reveals and E3, common sense would tell you that the new XBOX would hold some margin of advantage over the new PS and that it would be Sony having to clear hurdles to close the gap further (as they've been doing slowly but surely with the PS3).

But now that it seems that in NA the PS4 will comfortably sell just as well as the XB1 (and perhaps even outsell it) is a huge gain for Sony and a huge loss for MS in mind-share. Specially since MS seems to be betting the farm on the NA and the UK (even post-180).

So the Xbone has 33% less of a lead? :V

I'm ashamed to say I chuckled...

33% less interest. You can't have less of a lead if you are not in the lead. ;)

Sweet lord, this got me good.

Man, these analysts keep coming up with conflicting predictions from one day to the other. Let's just wait until the holiday season to see how this all shakes down.

Since both companies are now charging for online multiplayer, I suspect the front runner (the PS4, it seems) will stay the front runner, that there won't any 'evening out' of sales like we saw this generation, where the PS3 caught up with the 360. This generation, you could play multiplayer on all your systems, and only Microsoft asked you for money. That meant that there wasn't much stopping 360 owners (like myself, in 2006) from supplementing with a PS3 when the time was right (as I did in 2009). Now, unless you're happy with one of your systems being a single-player-only machine, supplementing with the competition won't be all that attractive, and I think we'll see many more people sticking with what they have.

:p I'm too tired to explain it correctly but... I'm just saying that people who own a 360 and want to go next gen will have the one waiting for them unlike how people who had ps2's last gen who wanted to go next gen only had the 360 in the market for a whole year therefore for a whole year you had people who where part of the ps2 userbase moving to the 360...

I hope this somewhat explains some stuff I pre-orded the ps4 and I'm not yet convinced to get a xbox one but I'm just a pessimistic guy In seeing a console dominance

also I just love Sony's I.Ps more and I just feel like MS's lack soul...

Many of those people who switched to 360 from ps2 are not loyal to any companies. They could just as easily switch to PS4 because of the cheaper price.

I still maintain PS4 will enjoy a lead out of the gate, but eventually the XB1 will catch up and both systems will be neck and neck throughout most of the upcoming generation. I also predict a fall off for both sooner than later. And no upcoming system will enjoy PS2 or even Wii numbers.

I believe the ps4 will initially trounce the Xbox One by a very healthy margin. I just hope the execs hold firm and don't release a kinect free model.

It's upsetting to see how many folks are failing to see how MS are over delivering on value for Xbox One. Upsetting.

who knows what will happen in the years to come if competitions is anything to go by will probably see amazing stuff to reel potential consumers in from both Sony and MS

that or more Media capabilities *cringe

Analysts.

My thread got locked yesterday for another analyst saying Xbox One pre-orders were up 3:1 over PS4.

There's a difference between an analysts' statement and an actual survey.

This is a survey, and it probably doesn't have a perfect sampling structure, but it does even go as far as weighting for different factors.

I would honestly be shocked if it wasn't at least 50% up. Its $100 cheaper is riding the majority of positive buzz and the best games coming out are 3rd party and will be available on both systems.

So I say DUH

Apologies. Based on only 6K people though? I assume PS4 has a lead, but odd that you can put a number on it already.

6k is enough if the sampling methodology is sound. Have you noticed most polls survey about a 1000 people?

Yes, market research also came up with :

PS3 is going to crush the 360

Wii is going to be a flop

PSP is going to crush the DS

Looks legit i guess.

Still waiting on links to these surveys.

It'll be interesting to see how MS is going to tackle this issue. Fascinating stuff

A price drop before the console comes out is probably not gonna happen. So other than marketing, I'm not sure if there is anything they can do right now.
I think it will be a year or two before we start to see the negativity around the Xbox One go away.

And analysts also said the PS3 was going to crush the 360, where's that chart again. Also according to everyone, the Wii was going to be a total flop.

I think i'll wait and see.

See what? A $499 console isn't going to keep pace with a $399 console. This is simple math.

Not surprising. I honestly don't think MS will win the next console war. The crazy part? I kind of don't think they care. It would be nice but they're after something that they feel is more important than total boxes sold, even if they lose some customers along the way.
Your comment reminded me of this article
Especially the skype and easy to use part, the rest is about IT.
I guess you're right, their goal is elsewhere than gaming now.

Seems to be supported.

Consider Amazon's top US sellers through 2012 (so far)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/2013/videogames/ref=zg_bs_tab_t_bsar

PS4 = 3rd spot
XBoxOne = 6th spot

The Current top 100 US sellers are even more stark:
http://www.amazon.com/best-sellers-video-games/zgbs/videogames/ref=zg_bs_nav_0

The PS4 holds the following top 100 positions (bundles included) vs XBOX one

4th: PS4 Standard
5th: PS4 Watch Dog
16th: PS4 Battle Field
23rd: PS4 Kill Zone Shadow Fall
51st: XBOX One standard

This is not going to be good...

"Methodology: Strategy Analytics conducted an online survey"

Thats when I stopped reading, this is about as believable as Microsoft shipping 3 to 1 versus Sony

...with adequate sample sizes and weighting to approximate representative samples of the population of interest.

Guess you should have kept reading.
