Steam Greenlight: 1000 games and counting, more Greenlit every few weeks

So I just submitted something this week directly to my Steam contact hoping the game can bypass Greenlight.

It is a Fighting Game Mod Creation tool called EF-12 which is free to download.
A Japanese developer who has worked on some top-tier fighting games (Tobal, Tekken, Soul Edge and others) created it with the goal of creating a new type of e-sport that combines creation and competition.

Check it!

Now I'm really worried about this going through Greenlight as it is low on content at the moment. Plus it is very hardcore as far as the modding goes as you can change ANYTHING in the game to your liking.

I really think it is a shame that games like this get passed over and I am going to beat my head into a concrete wall if I can't get it on the Steam Workshop somehow...

<crosses fingers>

If I get shot down again I expect your support on Greenlight again GAF!!!!

In continuing with smaller, more frequent batches, we've just Greenlit six more games and one software title.

These titles were selected on the same criteria we have been using in the past: Votes in Greenlight give us a hugely valuable point of data in gauging community interest along with external factors such as press reviews, crowd-funding successes, performance on other similar platforms, and awards and contests to help form a more complete picture of community interest in each title.

Here are the latest titles advancing through Steam Greenlight, and being offered worldwide distribution via Steam:

This batch will be the second round of developers to run through a set of redesigned tools on Steam aimed at streamlining the process of shipping new titles.

As with past batches, these titles will be released independently in the weeks or months ahead, as they complete development and integrate with any of the Steamworks features they are interested in utilizing.

I remember Stonehearth looking so awesome in the pictures...but the Greenlight page says those are target renders instead of screenshots. Are there any ingame screenshots or is it still too early in development?

This looks great. So it is like a Mugen for 3d-Fighters?

Interesting.

Yeah that basically sums it up! The developer is a really nice guy and is struggling because of the lack of an active PC mod scene inside Japan.

The documentation and manuals are translated and ready to go for the most part. There have been some updates and additional features added so we just gotta catch up on that.

Hi NeoGAF! o/

I'd like to tell you guys about our current game project called Highland Wars, that is now in Greenlight.

Highland Wars is a team-based 3rd person multiplayer game, where your job is to gather resources, build your team's castle and eventually destroy the castle of the opposing team.
Our main focus is in siege-machinery gameplay to create epic moments of castle sieging.
You can choose from 4 different classes which each have two different variatons to change the gameplay of that class.

We are a small indie team of 4 and are bursting our hearts into this project. We love multiplayer games and we feel that the best multiplayer games are defined by it's community. That's why we are developing the game as transparent as possible, talking with our community and asking feedback and ideas straight from you guys. Afterall, we are making this game for you, not for us.

If you have any questions about the game, feel free to ask them here, on Greenlight, or on our forums.
Please go and vote us in the Greenlight if you like what you saw. :)

Cheers,
Samu Aapa

You know how I know Greenlight is broken? I fairly frequently find really interesting games that I'll definitely upvote, but I'll end up finding out about their Greenlight campaigns outside of Greenlight itself, usually on a Kickstarter page. It just sucks that there's really interesting stuff on there that fails to float to the top on the actual Greenlight menu.

That's partly the design, though.

The idea was that you'd promote your Greenlight campaign on your website, Kickstarter, RPS covers you and they link to the Greenlight, Twitter, etc. Valve intentionally didn't design Greenlight to have any kind of "show me the most awesome / popular" stuff because then it's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Look at games that have user levels or hell, even Steam Workshop. 90% of people will go, look at the top rated submissions, and then try those so you have these top rated submissions that keep getting more high ratings and then these other ones that just flounder. Or like 50% of the time when I list to iTunes I just play my most played songs, so now the gap between my most played and everything else keeps getting bigger.

The games greenlit 07/28
  • Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller
  • Day One : Garry's Incident
  • Guncraft
  • Homesick
  • In Verbis Virtus
  • Super Motherload
  • Vector
  • Verdun

This thread reminds me, I picked up the Elder Sign board game and tried it out this weekend, and it mentioned the Elder Sign Omens digital version for phones/tablets. And then I might have run across on Google that the digital version is on Greenlight, so I ran off and voted for it. Decent dice-rolling game especially if you like cthulhu and such.

A big new batch of sixteen titles was greenlit today, probably to catch up after the Summer Sale break.

They are:
A Hat in Time
Among the Sleep
BROFORCE
Centration
Chasm
Darkwood
Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut
Divekick
Operation Black Mesa
Project Awakened
Recruits
Rekoil
Shelter
StarMade

Where the hell is Maia? Steam community fails again.

I'm pretty sure Project Awakened is on hold because it didn't reach its kickstarter goal.

This. It was really successful on Greenlight according to Simon, yet it still doesn't get Greenlit?

Above anything that's what I hate about Greenlight, it's seemingly completely random whether you get greenlit or not, and that's shit. There's no "do this and you'll be greenlit", it's just whoever Valve decides to allow onto Steam - so basically their old system with the added ability to vote, and maybe influence the decisions a bit, but who knows by how much.

Among the Sleep looks awesome. Hype.

In fact, just checked them all out and I'd probably buy almost all of the new greenlight games (except 4). Good job Steam community.
