Having played the shit out of the Hearthstone beta, all I can say is: iPad owners rejoice. They are testing the iPad version internally and it's Blizzcon soon... hope it gets released this year.

It's so much damn fun and clearly built for tablets. The install will probably be about 1gb based on the PC version just fyi.

I just got an IPAD Mini, any good rpg recommendations? The long kind :D, preferably not f2p as I really dislike the model, much rather pay a premium up front and enjoy gaming. Also games like 2d Zelda.

In the very rare occasions I was out with my iPad I did just that, worked like a charm (not to mention paying for just one data plan).
It really depends on your habits and usage.

BTW.....after using it almost non stop, I'm still at 55 percent left on first charge.
And it's blazing fast.
I'm really impressed.

Does the resolution (less than other tablets) bug you? Probably the mini when announced too

Swordigo gets banded around as sharing traits with a 2D Zelda, maybe try that?

Give ittle Dew a look https://itunes.apple.com/CA/app/id708195900.

Unfortunately I don't know how good the port is because it is new, but on PC it is a surprisingly competent zelda clone that is a lot more fun then you would think from looking at it.

Oh man, I had no idea this was getting an iOS port, that's already out! This game is fantastic on PC. Basically it's an unabashed Zelda clone and it knows it wholeheartedly, completely infused with a bunch of self-aware humor (incl. the name of the actual game).
Here's a Giantbomb Quicklook of the PC version: http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/quick-look-ittle-dew/2300-7697/

Any iOS impression anyone? If the port is solid this is a no-contest OP game right here.
He should look up a video before grabbing it, personally I couldn't get past the (imo) vomit-inducing art style/gfx.

Agreed. :)

Hmmmm no, absolutely not.
It's the same resolution I was already accustomed to...it's really high for the diagonal and imho perfect.
And this time is blazing fast too.

Check the Final Fantasy 4 if you're looking for quality. Grab it while it's still on sale. Unfortunately not that many other devs offers quality rpg stuff :(
Also, Knights of Pen and Paper are great though it suffers from bad pacing, but overall it's a must have really

Downloaded Ittle Dew, gotta say its wonderful fun, exactly what I was looking for

I think I may pull the trigger tonight. Did you go silver or the other one? How long did it take you to get it?

I have heard it!!

I got the black (Space Gray :P) one.
Saturday morning I just walked in a Apple Store to check out the new product...and went away with the iPad :)
They had plenty of WiFi models.
No covers tough (well....not my colors)....so it's still naked.

My Ittle Dew impressions

Mash up a SNES-era Zelda adventure with a Wind Waker-esque artstyle and lots and lots of dungeon puzzles, items and humour and you got Ittle Dew in a nutshell. The puzzles start out small but get increasingly more elaborate as you traverse a quite large world very 'inspired' from something like Zelda: A Link to the Past and the story is quite amusing. Basically it's an unabashed Zelda clone and it knows it wholeheartedly, completely infused with a bunch of self-aware humor (incl. the name of the actual game). The controls are done well with a virtual d-pad and buttons.

Recommended!

Oh and OP abuse ;)

Since I know you love a good 7-6 result, Cola (IT STILL HURTS) - might be worth looking at New Star Soccer. Heard the latest patch took some of the fun out of it (it's gotten a bit F2P-ish) but it's a somewhat entertaining football RPG if you drop the $1 for career/pro mode.

title of this game sounds like a typo.

looks tongue in cheek. hopefully its good... and let me use $

Lately I put in a bit of effort to get used to/customize the controls for DOOM Classic and goddayum! This actually works! (using the wheel option now, once you get used to it, it's great)

Man I'm loving this. DOOM on my phone. And it rocks. As a kid I played it a lot but I sucked at it. It's awesome replaying it and realizing how it's a really great game, I'm enjoying it more than a lot of modern fps's and certainly than other iOS fps's. Gonna be sinking a lot of time into this.

shit, why am i so late to kingdom rush frontiers?

so addicting. the whole heroes system is enough to hook me when i'm generally scared of TD games.

Which cover? The one with the backing? What color??

Yessss. I'm actually thinking of buying a hero or two, just to support them more (and to play around with, obvs :P). And I never buy IAP.

currently a sale too.

nirvus is freaking amazing and quite fun to micromanage.

Same with the priest.

the monk has fun animations.

I tend to dig myself into holes where you can buy new characters with real money :/

luckily for ios games... you spend at most like $10.

O shit didn't even realize Hearthstone was being made for iPad. That's awesome.

Came back to it this week and got up to the annoying final boss. Both this and the original are probably my fav ios games.

We just added iOS controller support to Into the Dead in our latest update too. And we have no clue on when controllers will be released.

How can developers know if things will work out when the controllers are actually released then? Sorry if it seems like a silly question, but I'm really curious as someone who doesn't really know anything much about game development.

Smart Cover (no backing).
I'm still undecided but I found only pink and green, which I do not like.

Okay I ordered a 128 GB Verizon iPad. It should be here Thursday, with a blue Smart Cover. To sound sappy .... I got the blue cover because I just had a son this past week!

Where are the goddamn iOs controllers?

With the installed user base, shouldn't third parties be making them left and right? Or is Apple holding things up?

Congrats man!!!
We now know who will play with your iPad in few years!!!
(I'm a father too...best thing ever!!!)

Thank you :) This is our first (and probably only) but I am loving it! Just not the sleepless nights, and its only been 6 so far :P

I bought an iPad when my son was one month old.

He's 3.5 now and it's his iPad :P

Bonus - here he is unlocking it at 13 months old.

Wow, now that's impressive!

Well, there are a few things that help with that but in our case we have support in the game on Android for already available controllers which made things simple.

Congratulations!

I very strongly recommend the Loudcrow series of book adaptations to parents. Once your child gets to 18-24 months they will really, really enjoy them.

there are controller libraries somewhere in ios7 sdk. you read the notes... and then you implement them!

it is known ios7 controllers will have some basic controller button layouts, so you kinda gestimate right now (and android supports controller so if you've done that it makes it easier).

I really like Ittle Dew too, very nice block puzzle game with some beautiful hand drawn animations. And the guys at Ludosity are really nice, they work in the building next door. So I also highly recommend people to pick this up.
