Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

Man I think my Ethernet port has died. My Switch 2 won't wire its online connection any longer. Been reading about this problem popping up with Nintendo wanting you to ship both the dock and Switch 2 itself to see what's up.

Don't feel like dealing with any bull ship but I guess it could be worse.
Aaaaaand… this is exactly why I bought mine from Amazon brother- you just send the old item back and they send you a new one no hassle. Their return policy is unbeatable, and in Europe, with that 2-year warranty on all electronics? Even better.

Wish everything goes OK and hassle-free, cheers

In SF6, I can hit quarter circles constantly with the goddamn joycons but not with the dpad on the pro controller... Should I attempt the dyi fix or order some 8bitdo?

Ordered the GOAT case this morning from Waterfield.

Why that one of the one with the magnetic closings? 👀

They have a Switch 2 version of this now:

Has anyone had an issue where the S2 docked doesn't connect to the TV but the console turns on when docked?
I turned on my S2 using my pro controller but the S2 display turned on when it was in the dock and the dock would only work when switched off/on at the plug socket.
I think this console needs a few stability updates.

The dpad on the pro controller is straight up ass. I use my 8Bitdo controller for 2D games/fighters.

Need some recommendations on a good/"best"

travel case
Pro controller
SD Card
Pro controller is must in my opinion.

The joycon 2 is improvement over the original but for more active game you need pro controller.

SD card also good choice as well since most 3rd party games is going to be key cards so just like with PS5 games you still need to download it.

For me I didn't get travel case because I'm not gonna take my Switch 2 outside of my house.

145 hours in TOTK and I only just now repaired Lurelin village. The village is gorgeous on the Switch 2. This might be my new favorite village to hang out in.

There's so much to do in this game. It's going to take me forever to 100% it but I'm having fun.

With Zelda Notes it seems actually feasible to 100% now.

why does the battery drain so fast even on sleep mode? lmao. the console will be docked 99% of the time once we move into our new place so it won't matter by then, but still mildly annoying.

Got the switch 2 yesterday and my son tried out Mario Kart World, seemed like he was having fun doing random things in the open world, chasing after other vehicles and such. I also got to see Luigi's Mansion 3, seemed to look much sharper but still 30fps. Disappointed to know the the Xenoblade games didn't get any boost in performance, was looking forward to that.

Always look on the bright side of life! Worse things happen at sea you know!

best Pro Controller will probably be the 8bitdo Ultimate 2.

but you can't turn the system on with it, so you'll have to press the power button on the console (you also might need to patch its firmware to function if it's from an older shipment)

Going from switch 1 handheld to switch 2 docked really shows how big the leap is!
I'm also wondering when Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime are going to get Switch 2 updates...

Does anyone elses Switch 2 when you first turn it on docked, the picture comes up on the tv fine and then after like 30 seconds or so, you lose the signal for 3 seconds and then it comes back and then doesnt do it again? Its like it loses the hdmi handshake for a few seconds....tv is a Bravia OLED

I haven't noticed this on my LG OLED

I have a Sony TV, and similar thing happens to me, but not every time. I think it might have something to do with HDR being activated (I have it on "only titles that support it). I'm not sure about this, though.

My switch 2 pro controller doesn't actually wake my switch 2. I've googled it and all that came up was the switch 1 pro Controller not doing that.

Does anybody have a fix for this by any change? Switch and dock are updated and not getting prompts for a controller update although I think it did when I first connected although not sure.

Taken my Switch 2 and returned it to Nintendo, all the issues and the screen ghosting put me off for now, will repurchase when everything is fixed, Xenoblade 60fps patch and new OLED version comes out

Mine does not do that. I have an LG OLED.

I did have to fix some settings on the HDMI port when I first got my Switch 2 to get it to display correctly though. I had signal when I first turned it on, then lost signal until I changed some TV settings.

I also still cannot get HDMI to pass through 5.1 on the LG OLED. That is a annoying that LG HDMI doesn't lie certain audio signals. C1 LG OLED

Interesting....i'll check my setting at some point today and see what mines at and mess with that. I can literally make the little signal loss for a few seconds i talked about happen everytime i first turn my system on, so ill be able to tell right away if that setting is the issue.

It's definitely the HDR being activated.

PS : Is the HDR "always on" option activated on your Switch 2 by any chance ?

yes. I've noticed it mostly while playing TOTK but it could be because its the game I played the most. I have a LG C1.

It's a documented issue:

hoping a patch fixes it and that it isn't some hardware issue with the docking station itself

funny enough, when it happens on TOTK it does say 'HDR' in the corner of the screen, but I do have "HDR Output: For all software" selected, so I don't get why it would be turning off/on HDR mid game. is that the setting you were referring to?

I don't yet have a NS2 so I've been getting some games for my NS1, RDR1 among them. And I'm very impressed by how this little old machine can run this game so well. I really hope they make RDR2 for the NS2. It's going to be bonkers fun to play it while traveling and whatnot. Imagine being out camping and going out for some fishing or poker while you're in the tent at night lol.

So i checked out those links you provided up there about it being a known issue and i THINK i fixed mine. Now with mine (Bravia OLED), the issue was that when i turned on the Switch 2 when it's docked, it would come on fine on the tv but every single time, after 30-45 seconds or so, i would lose my video for 3 seconds or so and then it would come back, and it wouldnt happen again. So it was only when i first turned it on.

I saw that people were solving their drops by turning OFF "Match TV Power State" in the Switch 2 settings. I went and did that on my Switch 2, put the system to sleep, and powered off my tv. Turned my tv back on, powered on the Switch 2 in docked mode and it went on and the issue did NOT occur this time! I'm going to see how it is later today, and if it still doesn't happen again, i'll consider it solved for my situation. It seems that perhaps Switch 2 doesn't play nice at the moment with HDMI-CEC.

The OS in general has alot of bugs they need to fix.

I'd give it a whole year, the map has many additions but the same layout + same art direction fatigued me and I wished I waited for longer before getting into TOTK
Just finished up Echoes of Wisdom and I am now a couple of hour's into my third playthrough of BOTW. As much as I would want to go straight onto TOTK after that as I have only completed it once, I know I would get burned out.
