Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater | Review Thread

I don't know how it can get such high marks when it has such serious performance issues, while running at super low resolutions. Absolutely unacceptable. I won't touch it until it's fixed.

I wouldn't hold my breath if Oblivion is anything to go by, not to mention the studio just went through a huge round of layoffs.

With all due respect to the other games you listed, MGS3 is an all-timer. I'd probably recommend playing the HD Collection version first though.

I've played MGS1 dozens of times. Ive played 2 at least a half dozen. (I also have hard and digital copies) And I played through 4 and 5. Why would I hunt down a copy of that let alone a PS3 to play that shit?

Im skipping it for now, September is way too much stacked for my wallet and I have to buy Borderlands 4 cuz my friend wants to play it, and obviously Silksong gotta be there day one. I'll save it for end of the year when theres nothing else.

You mean the digital ones they released a year or so ago? Yeah I have them. And a black label MGS and a copy of MGS2 Substance for my OG Xbox.

I know my Metal Gear anime bro. I just missed out on 3 because I was too busy bartending, fucking and partying.

Edit: Also I always heard that 7th gen collection was garbage

So play MGS3 then.

Looking forward to it. I'm sure it'll feel dated in some respects, but that's fine. I'm in the mood for Metal Gear, haven't played it since when 5 first came out. And I love me some stealth. I never replayed 3, so this will be the first time since I beat the OG one years ago.

If you can get past the technical aspects, the game is still fun and with plenty of cool stuff added.
Waiting for a price drop, some updates that fix performance or even Multiplayer launch may be the better thing to do though.

Oh believe me, I won't. I'm fine with not getting it at all. Got so many other games to look forward to, not to mention a huge backlog.

Just a side note, I got the game a while ago on CDKeys for about £44 for the premium edition, but I just noticed on Steam it's fucking £70, the same as Silent Hill f. Konami..... you started to get some love back and already you are back to being greedy dumb bitches. Fuck me.

This has to affect sales, which will then make them say the games are a failure because of the game's quality, and not the company pricing out people.

Wait this is £70? who the fuck are they trying to kid?

For £40 maybe lmfao.

Imagine if Konami REALLY went to town and remade the trilogy instead of cherry picking which one to do (MGS4 wouldn't have been as straightforward I guess....otherwise it would have got a PS Vita port as well)

8/10 sounds fair for this kind of remake.

1:1 may be less risky, but at the same time there is not much to be excited about.
It depends on the game. Demon's Souls was a 1 to 1 remake and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Resident Evil 2 1 to 1 remake would not have been nearly as exciting as what we got, which was more of a "Reimagining" than a Remake.

Its a matter of opinion but I highly disagree ... if I want some different game I will play a different game or a sequel maybe .. whats the point of a remake if not to respect the original material as much as possible ? ...

Let them try something different and we end with dogshit like final fantasy VII remake

Imo those guys seems more pc modders than developers. Everytime they port some data from the older engine, they keep the same framerate issues. I think they just hire them because they are cheaper not surely for their talent.

Was it really?
I'd say so, they copied even the places in levels which were low polygon only because of OG hardware. Like when at start you cross the rope bridge, the area below where M16 is, seems way too PS2 like, they could touch it up a bit, round it up a bit here and there.

This went from a day one purchase to sometime later in the new year at a discount. Too many games coming out just to play something I already played, but wrapped in better graphics with questionable performance.

Exactly! Blows my mind to see so many gamers wanting story or gameplay changes (outside of quality of life stuff/better animations/improved ai) instead of a 1:1 remake.

Todays gamers are beyond help. No standards, accept whatever the popular trends are etc

But you knew this from the very first gameplay trailer, why is anyone surprised now that its a 1:1 remake....they literally kept repeating it will be 1:1, even the animations are the same. They never said they would expand on anything, just modernize it which works for most people.

You can still do both. I'd say keep the story the same but expand upon the gameplay. This isnt like going from TLOU1 on PS3 to PS4. There have been 3 generations of gameplay improvements that can be added to this series. Bigger areas for one.

They did add some of the combat improvements and animations so thats a welcome change, but there is no harm wanting a bit more like what we've seen in RE remakes.

If people just want the same exact 1:1 game they can always play remasters and there have been several of those already including one earlier this year. If you are going with an entire graphics overhaul, why not try the same thing with the game design without going full retard like FF7. I think RE games, even RE3 despite all its issues, have done a great job modernizing the series. That said, I dont want them touching the fucking cutscenes or writing so a 1:1 remake is probably for the best.

Making a carbon copy instead of using today's tech to broaden and deepen the experience was a mistake.

This would be entirely true were this still the KojiPro era. Konami 2025 needs to prove they can make the old formula work as a blueprint without lighting anything on Fire before they start broadening and deepening things.

Bought and played MGS3 subsistence? On PS2 and only played for like 10 minutes. Bought legacy collection on PS3 and never touched it.

Maybe nows the time. only MGS games I've beaten is 1 and 2. Ground Zeroes too if that counts.

When it comes to remakes seems Devs can't win.

For FF7 remake people wanted a carbon copy but with modern graphics.

Now we have a carbon copy remake with modern graphics and people wanted the gameplay, story remaking.

Let's be clear: this is not a remake just a graphic remaster. Silent Hill 2 and Resident Evil 4 are remake because they are both "remaked" in the core; Virtuos just update the graphic and not "remake" the game. they also haven't changed the fps lock or improved it or eliminated the loading time.

Imo remasters are mostly just had updates resolutions, textures and FPS for modern consoles.

This game has been recreated, essentially remade in unreal 5. It's definitely a remake.

They haven't recreated anything. They have updated the graphic with the UE5 but they keep the original code of the game with the same issues. The only stuff maybe they have recreated probably the animations (facials also) but I don't role out a sort of tools to achieve such update/upgrade, knowing how they work.
