There's that and the fact that they were just trigger characters for certain events to unfold. Ron's vengeance and contentment with the loss of he's father channelled into Carls eye ball. Sam's self-fulfilling prophecy. Jessie and Ricks stupid romance that fuels Rick's super satan mode to help clear the horde. Characters that I hated, that potentially make existing characters evolve.

Right. Let's kill them off in a way that advances the characters we care about. I don't have an issue with this, unless we can go back in time and just completely rewrite them all.

I can't seem to find the first half of season 6 anywhere online to stream, not even AMC. Am I just blind? Anyone have an idea where I can find them?
I get a 404 error on AMC's website when I go to watch episode 1 of Season 6. Says it's beacuse of a site re-design. I haven't went on the website recently, so idk how new is it, but maybe it'll pop up in a few days?

Not sure how you top killing a horde. Guess the rest of the season will be about the human threat.

They really did start the show with a showstopper. My guess is the rest of the season is rebuilding Alexandria, and then in the finale they all get captured by Negan and it was all for naught.

I saw headlines stating the midseason premiere was the worst TWD episode to date, and after watching it I have no idea what the hell those writers were thinking. But that could be because I am a firm believer that Crazy Rick is Best Rick. On top of that, it did an excellent job giving motivation for the people of Alexandria to unite around him. All in all this was the kind of TWD episode people have been waiting for, and it gives me a lot of hope that this might finish as one of the best seasons the show has had.

Those writers are definitely in the minority. All reviews I've seen and just general reception has been very positive, and I've looked at twenty or so. I'd probably have to type in keywords and search thoroughly to find several reviews bashing on it.

You do. The characters are smarter and the writing is of MUCH higher quality.

It's just a much, much better show. Everything seems to fall apart in S3 (although they are some fantastic episodes).

Have been rewatching today. Disagree. The pilot will never be topped. The rest has been hit or miss all along. I think the things you don't like have always been there and always be.

I've been rewatching, too, and while I have always thought the show really has its ups and downs (so many), I will say that I think the progression of the survivors and some of the character development has been great. I wish it was more consistent. Maybe this is because I was not watching straight through, but skipping around, but the differences in the way people fight and even move through zombies in the early seasons versus everything starting with season three and beyond is really fascinating to consider -- they keep learning and adjusting and moving, at least in terms of survival systems, and that puts some of the stuff I write off as dumb into new perspective for me.

I don't know. I don't love the show, but I also think it's one of the more interesting things on television.

Meh agree to disagree; my GF and I watch season one and two all the time. Love them.. Much higher overall quality than the others.

I straight up thought Negan was the guy on the bike who stopped them and all, NOPE.

I'm in a quandry do I read the comics or not? I have read book 1.

I read the first compendium...and it is quite different. Not bad different or good different, just different.

Really?
I thought Season 1 was the worst, the whole CDC thing ruined what could have been a great season.

Wait.. what? You say it's a generally great season but because of one episode it's the worst? I agree the CDC thing was out of place but I still loved the implications behind it. It just shouldn't have been as sci-fi future/techy.

Do it the comics are awesome. Things have really started to build up with these last few issues so it's a good jumping in point to get caught up.

Just be warned tho that the show has started to really follow the comics and its general path with the overall story. So some big moments are likely going to be spoiled if you do read them.

Damn how can I watch this on AMC's website? It keeps displaying 2 seconds of advertisement and then skips straight to the end of the stream, giving suggestions on what to watch next. Anyone know a solution?

Edit: Nevermind, it worked.

I disagree. Season 1 and 2 (even with its dead in the water pacing) had much better dialogue, likable, believable and smarter characters than Season 3-6 combined. I hated the pacing of S2, but its character development and writing were much better than what came after. I could watch S1/2 anytime, whereas it's much harder for me to watch any of the others again, aside from some of Season 5, which was a welcome return to form in MANY ways, even if it had some of those same glaring issues.

I disagree with this completely. In fact I would argue that the death of Andrea marked the point where this show returned to it's top form.

You recall character development in S2. I recall character schizophrenia in S2 and some of S3. Laurie and Andrea in particular. And there were just so many dumb annoying characters back then: Dale in particular.

What was wrong with Dale?

So I'm not the only one thinking the Sam/Ron/Jessie sequence was some real amateur hour bullshit, right? The actors felt so flat and lifeless, and the flashbacks just didn't gel for me. I get that in the story they're trying not to alert the walkers but it just didn't work on screen, it all felt so lifeless and stilted.

Made me laugh though the way Rick just loses it at the end and starts going ham on the walkers and the rest of the town thinks he's making some kind of stand. Must have been awkward to explain when they were finished.

Well I think it pulled the whole season down a few notches.

Not just the future part but also the bomb where people chose to stay behind and get blown up.

Yep I agree I think these last three seasons 4,5 and 6 are better then 1, 2 and 3. Granted 6 isn't finished yet but I don't see it going downhill enough to change my opinion.

For me the real strong point of the earlier seasons was Jon Bernthal as Shane. Him and Andy really nailed their material together. Besides the whole Shane thing going on season 2 would've been complete crap. And season 3 was just blah all together they ruined Andrea (one of my favorite comic characters) and had a terrible finale with the whole governor deal falling completely flat.

Season 1 is completely overrated besides the first episode still being probably the best episode. Vatos gang was beyond lame and the CDC was completely pointless.

I thought it was pretty well done, everyone having to try and stay calm as people are being eaten. It also sorta answered the question of why people don't just wander around covered in zombie guts all the time. I will say that the zombie gut overalls were some of the worst make-up they have had on the show which is usually its strength.
I really loved the rain fake out they had going, I was already rolling my eyes when I saw the spots of rain here and there.

Maybe people are figuring out that things are just going in circles.
Except that this newest episode showed completely the opposite. If we were going in circles then Alexandria would've been destroyed and Rick and the group would be back on the road. Rick's little chat to Carl at the end proves they don't want this to be another farm or prison situation.

And someone correct me if I'm wrong but aren't a lot more people using dvr to watch the show? That takes a decent chunk away cause most people don't wanna sit through commercials. Plus it was Valentine's Day coming off an average midseason finale. I see no reason for AMC to worry.

Rematches the episode loved it . Little things I asked myself why didn't Daryl just throw a match in the fire and save the rocket or use it against the horde? As for the car driving up probably a production era would be cool if it was the name of which we don't speak ! I'm calling it right now comic spoilers
michonne is comic Andrea and will end up with Rick

yep it has to be happening that way. After I saw michonne kiss Carl before going to fight I knew it was going to happen. Carl is going to be calling her mom. I can see it now.

I definitely thought it lacked the intensity that the comic had. Jessie was a lot more distraught in the comic version and Rick's action seemed a lot colder because of that. It didn't help that this was all supposed to happen seconds after the kid starts calling for mom but it was dragged out. Granted, I probably only feel this way since I read the comics. I'm sure I would have been just as blown away as others had this come as a surprise.
