‘Stellar Blade’ Director Rejects Idea Of “Regulating” Adult Mods: “Once The Game Is Purchased, It Belongs To The User”

Amidst a larger conversation regarding the ins and outs of the game's recently released PC edition, as machine translated by Chat GPT, the director was at one point pressed by his host, "

The protagonist Eve is a very appealing sales point in and of herself. Because of that, she's also been subject to preconceived notions, especially overseas. One common issue with character-centric games is data modification—specifically, the use of mods. What is your stance or policy regarding this?"

Further, Kim opined, "Modders still need to ramp up their firepower a bit. It's still lacking. At this point, I think the official content still has the upper hand."

"Since we don't provide an official modding tool, it's unlikely we'll see total conversions of the game, but I'm hopeful we'll start seeing mods that subtly change the way the game is enjoyed," he said. "Of course, new outfits or monster visuals would be great, but I'd be really excited to see mods that expand the player's experience in a meaningful way."

Standing firm, the Shift Up CEO affirmed "Stellar Blade is rated for adults only, so I don't think there's a strong justification for regulating such mods."

"Realistically, there's no effective way to regulate them anyway," he admitted. "As you probably know, mods have never truly been under full control of the developers. What I am concerned about, though, is not so much the existence of such patches, but the idea of people profiting from them by selling them at high prices. I'd much rather see people enjoying a culture of creation together—like a big party where everyone contributes."

I agree with the sentiment. Though the only mod I use for this game is increased ammo capacity which not only enhances the gameplay experience but also lets me use my ingame currency for something.

It's SOOOOOOOOOOO DAMN EASY to build PR/good will wins yet gaming companies repeatedly fail to take them.

How something like consumer freedom that someone buys a product can do what they want with it has become foreign is simply amazing

It's a single-player game...if I pay money for it, I'll do whatever I want with it.

I'm glad the director has the right take, but anyone who would want to restrict it is an anti-consumer idiot. Don't like the gooner mod, go play something else on your own device, and complain to the staff at Starbucks like a good karen.

Stellar Blade is such a stellar game. Not sure what modders could do to this game that isn't already in a Bethesda game. Pretty sure they have full nude and genital mods with sex for several Bethesda games. I agree that the outfits in the game are amazing and I think it will be hard to outdo them. I have zero interest in the mod scene for this game. Eve already looks amazing and there are so many outfits. Modders need to spend their time fixing broken games like Spiderman 2 and Star Wars Outlaws. Those games need some serious help.

Why doesn't he release the game on GoG then? Lack of DRM?

Kim, I just want to say thank you for the photo mode. 15 hours in I'm still in the wasteland with over 600 screenshot and counting.

front shot, upper, below, side, back everything looks good 😂😎😎😎

There are mods that ask or money? Not into mods much but always thought those are all free fan projects and only very rarely something is turned into a commercial project but then with official blessing and given license.

Are..

Are we in 2002? This thinking, it's hitting me right in the nostalgia

Crazy to think this was the norm, but I'm here for it, again. If Kim needs more money for good work, good games and for the ideals gaming used to be for, I'm damn well happy to give it, with ease.

Duh. We ain't kids around here on PC. We are adults who can handle mods ourselves. No need for any major corporation to stop us from using mods
