Did I miss Nirvana in the OP? Kind of weird to talk about the 90s music without mentioning them. Seems the music there was only late-90s but the early 90s were defined by alternative and grunge movements (not giving an opinion on 'em, but they were pretty damn significant).

It's weird I have almost zero nostalgia for the 90s....as awesome of a time that was Its kinda been there done that....Now I know how older people felt when we used to bring up the 80s and I was excited and they were just 'blah'

I like certain pieces of hardware from the 90s (consoles), and I liked the birth of gangsta rap music.... but so much of the fetishism is just the result of children liking whatever corporate shit had been trotted in front of them at an impressionable age. I can get into the fun of it sometimes, but let's be honest....

My entire childhood condensed into a single post.

God damn, son.

Sweet spot transition between playing in the backyard and the arrival of the Internet
Maybe it was just me but I never did the whole thing where kids just ran around and hung out at a moment's notice. If we wanted to hang out it was a big deal and we'd have to call ahead and shit. Maybe it was just that my parents didn't want me wandering outside (in the suburbs, really?)

I always thought that was more of an 80s thing. Or a 50s thing.

I don't know if these were popular in the US too but I fucking loved them

You had no childhood.

80s coulda been cool too but being born in 81 I remember the tail end of the mid to late 80s, but was a kid/teen for the 90s

aside from a more social internet I think the 00s sucked

dotcom burst, then 9/11, then house bubble, plus aside from grand theft auto and WoW there were no landmark games (imo).

Amazing decade, can't understand all the hate in here. Golden age for home gaming, the emergence of the internet, some of the best tv shows and movies, just a genuinely cool time. Obviously I'm biased, but it was just an awesome time for the world.
