West playoff pix: OKC 62 w's, LAL 56, Utah 55, Dal 53, Por 52, SA 49, Phx 44, Hou 42. OKC over Por; LAL over Uta; OKC over LAL (7).

This would be my worst nightmare. 49 wins.

But wait Bill Simmons said it, so its going to be ok. Hes always wrong :D

lulz, OKC wont touch 60 unless they get a third all-star caliber player. Simmons being Simmons, the jump from 50 to 60 wins is really damn hard.

OKC is gonna have to be the best defensive team of all times if they catching 60 wins.

Or, Russell is gonna have to unleash his inner Gary Payton.

Simmons not only has the Thunder winning 62, one less than Miami .. but he has them winning THE WHOLE THING.

All of this on the basis that Durant got better. I seriously think hes delirious.

OKC 62 wins?!?!?!?!

...

holy shit.
The thing people don't realize is that after we acquired Maynor and Ibaka started getting major minutes, our winning percentage went WAY up. We were unlucky not to have 52-53 wins if you look at our last few games. Lost some very winnable ones down the stretch.

I could see it, but EVERYTHING has to go right.

- KD as a legitimate MVP (not a "we're tired of voting for LeBron" MVP). That means that his assists need to cross the 5 APG threshold. He had 8 assists and no turnovers the other night, so there's hope.
- Westbrook as a legitimate second fiddle (we're talking all-star, 9-10 APG, etc.)
- Strong development of Ibaka, Maynor, and Harden
- Collison getting back into the lineup soon
- No major injuries
- A trade for some frontline scoring would be nice, too. Maybe we can get Nene in a fire sale after the Thuggs trade Melo?

I'm still not convinced we can beat a healthy Lakers squad in the playoffs, but as long as our defense stays strong and we make offensive improvement, this team will probably rack up a LOT of regular season wins.

Actually, I think he has us losing to Boston in 6. Of course. :lol

Oh yeah, he did. My bad.

Miami is going to destroy Boston if they meet in the playoffs.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas: I wouldn't mind seeing him get more burn than Anthony, but he's so doggone slow it's hard to ignore. His rebounding is priceless on both ends though. It's nice to have him in the rotation. I hope he gets his ring.
What?! :lol

Way to prove you haven't seen him play in the last 3 years.

I think it will be an interesting match of styles, actually. If the Heat haven't evolved beyond the LeIso offense by that point, they'll be in trouble.

Czzzz need everyone healthy to have a chance though.

45 wins
if they don't gut the team
. Get rid of Jamison though. At least they will be more entertaining.

I'll be shocked if PHX wins 44 games. They've looked really bad so far... Think Turk has cursed/doomed another franchise. :lol

No chance in hell Durant goes from 2.8 to over 5 assists in a season.

Durant is not an assist guy. That's why they so badly need Westbrook to step his game up.

Oops, was looking at his postseason stats, where he had 4 APG.

Over 4 APG in the regular season would be nice, and is definitely attainable. He's said he's going to make a conscious effort to distribute the ball. He should be working more from the post this season as well, which should help his assist numbers.

Over the last two seasons, the Thunder have gone 3-10 versus the Lakers, and 2-6 versus Portland. All of the sudden they're gonna win 62 games (league best), beat both Portland and the Lakers in the playoffs (two teams they suck against), and all of this without adding a single significant addition to their roster over the summer?

Simmons isn't that good of a troll.

Lifelong Magic man but not expecting anything more than 50+ wins, a trip to playoffs and being eliminated in the EC playoffs because we all of a sudden forget how to play. Unless Otis makes some kind of mid-season trade with VC.

I agree that the media is overhyping us, but if everything breaks the right way for us, I could see 55+ wins. And you're absolutely right that we need to prove ourselves capable of hanging with the Portlands and LAs of the world before we can truly contend.

The scary thing about this team is that they're so young, and absolutely NOBODY saw last year's 50 win season coming. Who really knows what to expect after another offseason of development?

What you're ignoring is,

Everything already broke the right way for you last year.

Deron: Did one of our centers just make a stop? I'm going to have to think about what this might mean. I do like it.

Jefferson is going to be a nice upgrade over BoozIR. Booz has more talent, but Jefferson is more complete. People dog on Al's defense, but BoozIR has to be the absolute bottom of the barrel and his offensive game disappears completely against a guy that has any size on him. When Al is playing against a bigger opponent, he just goes right at them.

Except that they did last season, and Atlanta is the same team but 1 year better, and Boston is likely to give less of a fuck about the regular season since they're also 1 year older?

I almost agree. I think they will take the same approach as last year in regards to just hopefully being healthy. The difference is their bench is far superior to last year. If healthy after the first 10 games a bench of Shaq, Baby, Marquis Daniels, Delonte West and Nate is pretty darn good IMO. It should gain them some extra wins were as the bench would blow leads left and right last year and never really extend leads. Seeding is not revalvant to me. I just assume you have to go through ORL and the Heat one way or another.

Jeff, have you watched Jefferson play?

Dude is "bottom of the barrel" defensively. Definition of it in fact. Hes fucking terrible.

Hes got nice post moves but thats it. Stop deluding yourself man.

I used to call Al Jefferson a more athletic Zach Randolph, but that was before Al tore his entire ACL.

I don't think Boozer has more talent than Jefferson. I think both guys are just lazy on the defensive side of the ball.

Yeah, well Jefferson has already lost a lot of weight and is in the best condition of his career so far. He's happy to be here, so I think he'll play better on both sides of the ball. He can't be worse than BoozIR. That's unpossible.

I thought I read that Jefferson was at 280 during training camp and gained like 5 lbs in 2 days?

For me this season is all about hoping for the Spurs to stay healthy. I still believe they have another run in them.

Plus we get to see Tiagoooooo!!!!

Don't know what his weight is at, but I should have said that he's lost fat. He's definitely more lean than he's ever been.

You Jazz fans talk about Boozer like he sucks ... still an excellent player.

That's the play where Gasol got blocked, got the rebound, and finished with an up and under dunk right in your frontline's grill. :lol :lol :lol Great example, Jeff.

The guy has career averages of 20.3/12.5/2.8 for them in the playoffs in 44 games played. They treat him like a villain. Portland fans didn't treat Zach nor Sheed in the same manner, and those guys had some serious off-the-court and on-the-court-issues.

You gotta be white and conservative like John Stockton and Karl Malone for the Jazz fans to forgive your playoff failures.
