Kad, how the hell do you have the Rockets in the playoffs and above the Clippers? Makes no sense. Paul alone gets you 8th seed.

The clippers being successful is a pretty easy thing to be skeptical about. Also, VDN is still their coach, paul and billlups can only do so much to make up for that.

Paul and Billups are smart enough to offset a shit coach. Add Deandre, Beast Griffin, Blackhole Caron and their decent bench, they'll be in the playoffs for sure, probably as high as a 3 or 4 seed.

Basketball Prospectus has the Timberwolves in the playoffs while the Grizzlies miss the playoffs. Not really seeing that at all since the Wolves have one good player on their roster, but whatever.

The Magic are so worried about Bynum's knee they should trade for him before he blows it out while he is on the Lakers? Even Metta would find this logic to be pretty questionable.

That last bit is pretty stupid. As if Bynum injured in a Magic uni is worth anything to them.

That dumb point aside, out of the two known trades (Bropez+picks) (Bynum+trash), only one is still doable.

Not only that, but Lopez has not been injury prone. In fact, he's been really durable. Bynum, on the other hand, has been an injury prone player.

It's going to be really embarrassing if Otis only manages an injury-prone, good-but-not-great center when CP3 and Deron got three lottery picks and a former all-star despite being worse players with more injury history.

Dickishness aside for a moment.

"Amar'e is the Mensch of MSG. The power forward is buying Christmas breakfast for 500-plus MSG employees"

That's pretty cool, I don't care how many millions he has, really nice gesture.

The season is over by Valentine's Day now?

You're crazy if you think Bropez will be/should be back by then.

Smaller players have missed much more time than 8 weeks and the injury has a tendency of aggravation. If they trot him out there in 8 weeks, they're doing the guy a real disservice.

I won't even troll.

Stuff like this is always good to hear.

What in the hell can Dallas offer, exactly?

He can sign as FA. They don't have to offer anything.

He gets to play with Dirk and they'd have room to sign other guys, who will undoubtedly flock there to ring chase.

For 2012/13 they have the following under contract

Lamar Odom - Team option IIRC
Dirk
Shawn Marion
Brendan Haywood
Roddy Beaubois
Dominique Jones
Brendan Wright - Team option

putting them at 41 mil in salaries.

Not sure how Dwight's contract would be structured but assuming 20 mil, they're at 61 mil, 17 million less than the current Magic team and a hell of a lot better.

I thought that I read that Dallas was trying to trade with Dallas and Dallas was going to try to sell Dwight on resigning there.

Never would have imagined we'd have, in the starting line up, on opening day 2011:

Fisher
Ebanks
McRoberts

It's gonna be some bullshit having to wait for Dwight until the latter half of the season.

I do think the clips will do very well, I was just listing some reasons why I could understand a person being skeptical.

If Dwight cared about titles he'd sign with Dallas. How in the hell would you guard that front court? Double team Dwight and Dirk tears you a new one by hitting uncontested jump shots all day.

People forget we can sign Dwight straight up this off-season as well. When your options are "nothing" and "a slightly bruised Brook Lopez", you take Lopez every time.

Except it's not the way you're saying it is.

It's done for the season Lopez or currently healthy Bynum and trash or Whatever Dallas is throwing at them (which can't be very appealing) and all the other unknown offers.

Getting a stress fractured 7 footer is not something you take on with no question. The only certainty is that Otis will get fucked without lube and probably be fired soon after.

I said this before, but I'm pretty sure a star player has never left his team to sign with a bottom 10 team so Dwight would have to make history to sign in Brooklyn.

Dallas still has its amnesty too. They can wipe another $9mill by getting rid of Haywood. They'll have $20mill+ free

Weren't the Knicks a bottom 10 team in 2009?

I did forget about Amar'e, but that was more about the money than anything else since no one else would sign him with his knees. Every team that can will offer Dwight the max and the Magic can give him the biggest max.

And Amar'e hadn't been that good for his last two years in Phoenix other than one two month regular season stretch

Dirk can play at a high level for at least another five years. He's never had a major injury, he's a gym rat, and his game does not rely on athletic ability. He'll always be able to shoot over people and he'll always be able to shoot well.

By the trade deadline or this offseason either Dallas or LA will be good enough to be title contenders for 2-3 years and then build around dwight for another 4-5.

We truly live in exciting times.

They cannot sign Dwight with that roster. They have to amnesty Haywood. If they keep Lamar instead of waiving him, they have room to sign Dwight and that's it.

Also, yay for ebanks starting.
