I see Amir Johnson's name mentioned a lot for a bum. Some kind of in joke?

He plays limited minutes due to foul trouble, mostly just dunks, and plays decent defense while playing hard due to his limited time on the court and this gives him inflated advanced statistics. He's rated as the 17th best player in the league by Adjusted Plus or Minus because of those factors (though he is a fine, serviceable player)

How was the fact that Robinson never played Jordan not mentioned by BEST-GAF already?

It was

Robinson played against Jordan so many times in the Finals yo! The Jordan era argument only applies to superstars in the east (Reggie Miller, Ewing) and to superstars who made the finals against him (Barkley, Stockton, Malone) Not to people who never had to face him in a playoff series. gtfo with that lazy argument.

Interesting. The few times I've seen him play, he was a fouling machine. Plus he's undersized for a PF.

lol truth

i told him shit like that rarely happens for the lakers. i really hate being right this time. :(

Yeah... Shaq, Pau, Sedale, Kobe, Sky hook... Nothing good even is given to Lakers in trades or FA...

This countdown to tipoff show on espn is terrible. I dont even know one of these dudes.

The mystery guy said the heat have a depth - Shane Battier, James Jones.

Yes they were the two names.

Doesn't fuckin' matter.

They could have Run the Point or Be the Center night every game and they'd still win it all.

Lakers should trade for expiring contracts and spend big in the off season. Howard, Deron, Gordon, Love, Mayo, Gallo and Nash are FA's, I think. They could rebuild rather quickly.

Never would have imagined we'd have, in the starting line up, on opening day 2011:

Fisher
Ebanks
McRoberts

It's gonna be some bullshit having to wait for Dwight until the latter half of the season.

It won't matter. Kobe is officially in F.U. mode and will carry the entire team this year. Read the reports; he's in great shape and the experimental platelet-rich plasma procedure greatly helped his knee. I'm actually a little more confident about #6 this year than last year, which I realize doesn't make sense because they lost LO and missed out on Paul/Howard. Sometimes you gotta ignore what's 'on paper' and what 'makes sense' and do a gut check and realize what's about to go down.

Serious question. Is there anyone in the NBA who plays with more injuries than Kobe? I know Iverson used to play with a boat load of injuries back in his sixer days and I'm sure that Lebron and Dwight play while taking hits and bruises. But does anyone play consistently with more injuries than Kobe?

Old man Kobe needs to sit down, he's ruining our tanking strategy!

Also, Brandi, stop pretending that your team wasn't 1st round fodder until they got Chandler. Now they lost Chandler. Your team gets respect for winning in 11, not for being good enough to be a lock for 2012

Dude, it wasn't just because of Chandler that got them past the first round this year. Defense wasn't the only reason they have been losing out of the first round lately. It's mainly because Dirk has been the only consistent player on this team during the playoffs, and everyone else has failed to even play remotely close to their standards, namely Jet.

The simple fact is that the Mavs won because ALL of roster played great, not just because TC was on the team. Not only did Dirk play out of his mind, but so did all of the other players.

That's not to discredit anything TC did, but if JJ, Jet, Marion, and Kidd didn't play like they did, the Mavs would not have even got close to winning the Finals.

Not a damn soul. Only comparable guy was Iverson.

So Chris Paul lands a coveted spot on the classiest late night talk show alongside a genuine A-lister. Meanwhile. Steve Blake, Matt Barnes, and some other guy get sent to a shitty music show as backup dancers for 50 Cent as he performs In Da Club in 2011.

The pecking order really has changed, huh?

Indeed.

fixed.

Not a knock on the Mavs or their players. But one superstar at the tail end of his prime doesn't beat 2.5 superstars in their prime. The Mavs were the best team in the west, the Heat were the best team in the league. They're STILL the best team in the league as much as it pains me to say that.

What's incredible is that everyone on the Mavs had to play incredible defense (something they're not known for) and play up to their potential, or exceed their potential offensively during the finals and the best player in the world had to completely choke offensively and defensively for your team to win a series where 3 games were decided by just one bucket.

Again, not a knock on the Mavs. They most definitely TOOK IT from the hands of the Heat starting right after Wade hit that 3 in game 2. But this was the Heat's series to lose, and James' performance made sure they lost it.

Were his shorts chafing his balls too hard? Dude never had to take as hard a beating as Kobe and Iverson. He wasn't the focal point of the offense.

yep cause a guy that doesn't miss a game after breaking a rib, or a broken pelvic bone, among countless other times he played injured doesn't count.

sit down, please.

The pecking order has changed, but we both know Kobe could just walk on the Jay Leno set any damn day he wants. Comparing superstars to role players smh. Lets see how many Jay Leno appearances Gomes makes this season.

Stockton is up there, you're right. As is Jordan obviously. But that's the last generation. I was thinking more of Kobe's generation

Backup dancers for 50 Cent in a performance of In Da Club...in 2011, Vag.

They're into having sex; they ain't into making love, Vag.

You're right, I'm embarrassed. If they were backup dancers for the Watch the Throne Show I went to, It would be awesome.

Actually, another question, is ANY NBA player a bigger celebrity than Jay Z? Maybe have a more ethnically diverse audience, but not an overall bigger more A-list celebrity. Kobe is probably the only one that's even up for consideration right?

Technically nobody bet with me. You can't lose a bet to a ghost. Also that was a fluke of a series...how many second half leads did they blow? Just a fluke
It's funny watching you try to squirm out of it. You lost and didn't accept your punishment like a man, instead pussying out. Just accept that and move on.

Lakers playoff run ended for basketball reasons

Lebron shot a better % in the finals compared to all of the other series in last year playoffs. The reason he didn't do "great" was because he wasn't getting to the foul line because he mostly had to settle for bad shots, so he was deferring to Wade who was a monster.

Last year I credit TC, Carlisle, and Casey for installing a defensive mindset, but it's not the first time it's happened. The last time they made the Finals, Avery took over and installed the same mindset that defense was the main aspect in winning a championship, but they also had Jho and Jet playing great, and Harris in the Spur series. Of course they ultimately came up short, but they went deep into the playoffs.

I believe now that the Mavs know what it takes to win, they can still go deep in the playoffs with what they have. They're going to have some really good perimeter defense, and Haywood isn't nearly the scrub that Damp was.

LeBron has been the best player in the league since the 2007 season, I'd say it would be fair to call that his era. Has he won anything? No. But neither did Jordan by this time. I'm not a LeBron fan, hell I like Kobe more, but there's no question LeBron has been the better player for some time. Or will you disagree with that fact?

haaahaahahahah

You talking about Qunicy Miller?

Either way PJ3 does nothing every game I've seen him play...but dat potenshul and wingspan.

Watching WV against Baylor. Miller looks more complete and Heslip/Acy look better too. Kevin Jones for WV looks better as well.

Perry looks talented but has no idea how to use it.
