Meanwhile, Dwight and the Magic brass claim he never asked for SVG to get fired.

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard told TMZ on Thursday he played no role in the team's decision to fire coach Stan Van Gundy.

"I hate to see anyone lose their job," Howard told TMZ. "... Me and Stan ... we had our ups and downs ... but for the most part we had one goal ... to win a championship in Orlando, but we fell short."

In early April, Van Gundy claimed top-ranking team officials had told him that Howard had asked management to fire Van Gundy as a condition of the center signing a long-term contract beyond 2013. Howard denied it.

Magic CEO Alex Martins addressed that dispute on Monday, saying, "At no time during that time did Dwight ask me to have Stan fired."

"I'm glad [Martins] confirmed I had nothing to do with it," Howard told TMZ.

Dwight seems like a stand up guy, seems plausible.

I realize this is late but I'm really starting to find magic johnson's "analysis" during and after games unbearable. The dude is just such a tool. Both team were terrible at shooting for a decent part of the game and he goes on a rant of how ray allen had a good game by going like 3 for 13 and 2 for 11 from 3pt range. Makes me want to beat my head against the wall.

The only reason Magic is better than Shaq is that Magic doesn't interrupt other analysts with lame jokes. Neither have anything of value to contribute.

Well you're the one you said "people have been playing the "too old" card in 2008" which appears to be dismissive of any criticism to that effect on this year's team.

Not at all. It's just dismissive of a bullshit point which hasn't stuck when applied. I have no problem criticizing a team that has a terrible bench and can't fucking rebound to save their life.

This Celtics team has already passed all expectations. I'm just enjoying the ride. The loss of Avery Bradley is the biggest factor for the upcoming series though.

I still don't believe it. That press conference they had where Dwight interrupted SVG, then winked to Jameer, then got all flustered when the questioning began, etc...it was like catching him red handed. Besides, you actually think the owner of the team is going to admit to this? Are you serious? Clearly they value Howard more than SVG, and they'll do and say a lot of things to keep Dwight with the Magic as long as they can.

And saying that Howard never asked for SVG to be fired is just about the easiest lie an executive can make. Howard's two faced, he's demonstrated that much with his actions.

Zoltan Kulle is automatically the best character in D3 for looking like this guy:

Everyone should make fun of Stephen A. This series will go 4-1. Wade is going to kill Ray, Chalmers is better this year, and Bosh gets beasted by Garnett all the time anyway so not much will change there.

Heat have a better bench this year, and DWade and LeBron are more comfortable playing on the same team.
That's why it took them nearly 10 playoff games to make a three pointer right?

OMG

I remember that movie now!

But I think I got it confused with something else. :(

There are several scenes in that movie that are set-up like the beginning of a porn and I remember everytime I watched that movie my adolescent brain was hoping it was going to be like a choose your own adventure and this time Flash was getting some action!

Lebron only came off as looking like a selfish, arrogant asshole. At least he didn't get his coach/GM fired, turn around and lie about it, and then come off looking like a selfish, arrogant asshole.

Star players have gotten their coach fired previously. Magic and MJ both did that. Fans will forgive him as long as he's committed to staying in Orlando and wins (or fails trying to do so).

Well, technically he got Mike Brown fired. If the Cavs knew they had no shot at LeBron, he would been back.

and your reaction was?

Well I see them pretty regularly. So I walked over to him he looked at me and was thinking "come at me bro" at which point I walk away to what the bear deems a comfortable distance and allow him to continue his buffet.

I figure as long as he is distracted eating garbage instead of going for under-age girls its worth a little mess.

lol, wasn't the Nets trying to give Lopez/ a few 1st rounders earlier in the year for Howard?

Well the cavs are going to have a top 3 pick. And the 25th, with varejao. That outweighs the Nets offer so much, but Dwight would have to want to come here.
