I asked a similar question like a week ago. I think it makes him Top 5 all-time if he retires the same day. GSW being insanely good doesn't matter to his specific legacy. It just shows he could beat a team that on paper was better than his team.

His losses in the Finals hurt his legacy and his team swapping does too. The media and NBA will re-write the history of his whining and flopping, but no one can deny how great of a player he's been.

It can't be a double standard though. On one hand you have people hand wringing the losses to the West and weak East teams he's defeated. If he defeats the best team ever to come out of the West, I think it washes away that jilted narrative. Personally, it would be a pretty legendary win considering the odds and bolster his status quite a bit. If he loses, well it was to be expected, simply because of the God-tier status GSW has ascended to.

As far as team swapping, it's the NBA. I don't think you can hold that against anyone. Finals losses pull it down a bit, but they happen to the best of them.
