343 addresses ongoing Halo MCC Matchmaking issues

What was the total cost to make and market MCC anyway? I'm guessing not that much.

You're insane.

Increased XB1 sales don't mean shit to 343. Just because they're part of Microsoft doesn't mean they're going to see any of the sales profits. MCC has been something they've been working on at least two years. And you want them to refund/give it away? No. Never going to happen, and nor should it.

I haven't heard of the Destiny issues nor seen complaints of it. It certainly not in the same league as the others.

The Destiny issues are fairly minor when compared to the rest but they are still there. The most recent patch messed up party chat on X1. A day doesn't go by when someone isn't booted to orbit. Again not game breaking but they are there.

It would be MS decision. 343i are funded through MS. Do you have a source of how long MCC has been in the works? Seems like it took less than a year.

Eh? At least DriveClub's single player & gameplay worked flawlessly and it was only the online that was blowing up their servers, whereas this seems like it has troubles no matter if it's online or off.

And I don't see why you're so butthurt about the PS+ Edition being delayed. It would have done no one any good if they had not only had actual paying customers screwing up the servers, but the potentially hundreds of thousands or even millions of other users playing the PS+ Edition as well. Everyone would have been miserable and possibly for far longer than they did now. They did the right thing with focusing on fixing the underlying issues for the paying customers first and only making the PS+ Edition available when they believe the issues are fully solved and won't cause another server overload.

Take in consideration that this is 4 retail games under one package and as many developers working at it. While on paper MCC issues are bigger compared to Driveclub, the fact that DC was done under one roof and delayed and still had/still have problem, make it, IMO, a worst case.

Ok so then on the flip side Driveclub is a new franchise and while I'm sure they had big hopes...

Halo on the other hand is a pilar on which the xbox brand was built. For your super collection to come out and be a buggy piece of shit...

Doesn't seem to me both games have the same weight as the other.

Refund and free with gold after they fix it. I know it will never happen, but it's what they should do.

I wouldn't be surprised if they offered 2 free community chosen halo 2 maps remade for halo 2 anniversary.
For me personally that is the best option a couple of more maps.

My Super collection? geez.

It doesnt matter if its a New or stablished franchise, regardless, no game should be released with issues of this magnitude, but when you have 4 or 5 developers working on already stablished code, there is a higher chance of bugs, which is not the same as one Developer working a code from scratch.

I can't believe people have the nerve to call others that paid full price for something that doesn't work as advertised "Entitled whiners" ! That shit makes me sick. What in the fuck?

It cost $60, it doesn't work, people have every fucking right to be upset ! Jeezus people.

Oh good...the infinite money argument has made it here.

MS supporters are friends of MS.

If I was rich and I deceived and sold my friends something broken and they called me out on it, I would give it to them for free instead of losing friends and future sales.

Just fix the game. A extended beta is laughable as proper compensation and remastered maps don't do it for me at all.

And just to add my 2 cents to this debate: H4>Reach as well. Bloom and Armor Lock were some of the worst decisions made to a Halo game.

Why all the Reach bashing?

The Multiplayer was fun and the arena was a fairly solid ranked battleground

The story was great too. You guys just love hating don't you.

I know Arena wasn't well recieved in many places, but I just wanna say how much I loved it.

In some ways, it felt like the natural evolution of the Team Hardcore playlist in Halo 2.

Every month you compete, and the game lets you know how you rank in comparison to everyone else.

I just thought that was REALLY cool. It's a shame it didn't catch on.

Microsoft is not your friend.

They're my friend. :(

Man, Halo Reach multiplayer was straight up garbage. I'm surprised people actually defend that game.

Not a single memorable new map, like 95% Forge maps (at least in the BTB playlist), new weapons were shit, Invasion mode wasn't played by anybody and only supported on like two maps, the armor abilities and loadouts were awful ideas, bloom, etc.

Biggest problem with Halo 4 multiplayer is that it continued with all the BS that Bungie introduced in Reach.

I really want to start a new thread discussing "Power of the Cloud" and how this is one game which should have put that to obvious use... yet here we are. Has that statement been validated in any way by this point?

I can't believe refunds across the board and then giving the game out for free to everyone based on server and matchmaking issues is actually a serious suggestion.

I've read some crazy stuff on GAF but that is up there.

The weapons were also poorly balanced and the lack of a fun ranking system really hurt the game. With the 1-50 system, there was instant gratification seeing the number next to your name go up. It felt good. The arena felt more like a chore than anything else. After a long day of school or work, no one wants to play several placement matches a day for several days before getting a meaningless number. It just wasn't fun.

Reach itself was not a very good Halo in my opinion, the fact that it's held in such high regard by some baffles me.

It didn't catch on because the game wasn't competitive, at all. As someone said, bloom & armor lock are probably the 2 worst additions to the Halo franchise ever, and I doubt anything in 5 tops them.

It has it's positives and negatives.

Marketing it free with XBL will get more people buying xb1's, Xbox live and will show good faith and character in MS. It will also put more people on to Halo5.

They messed up and screwed us over. They make enough money to take the hit on the cost of the game. They will make it back with increased sales overtime anyway.
Or instead it just sets the precedent to consumers that if a game isn't working at launch that everybody will get it for free.

This is pretty bad though. I can understand some games have problems but MCC is on another level. Plus the further negative effect it will have on the Halo name.

People forget rather quickly how bad bloom was, this is a mechanic that made every encounter with the main precision weapon random, some people spammed, other paused their shots, other did 3 spam pause 2 spam, etc and no option guaranteed you could could win a DMR battle, so the outcome of every fight was a coin toss, then you put in a 5sk, no bleedtrough, sprint, armor lock, it only made it more frustrating as this element had an impact on the Kill Times and the flow of the game.

I still remember how Frustrating it was to try and Killl with a bloom DMR a half shield opponent that was sprinting to hide. looking back at this, I prefer to pay 120 dollars for MCC as it is right now, than to play launch Reach.

Yea, Reach is without a doubt, in my mind, the worst Halo ever made. 343 continued the shenanigans, but at least the weapons weren't random, but it sucked too.

The sad thing about all of this is that the games in this pack aren't bad (well, excluding Halo 4 multiplayer). When the MCC works, its an absolutely amazing experience which every Halo Fan has dreamed of for a long time and can be extremely addicting. But the game itself just doesn't work.

This pack should have been a runaway success. It should have been a financial success and been a boost to the Xbox Platform. It should have boosted the name of 343i. It should have been in a working state. But instead 343i have left a large blackspot on their name and dealt damage to the franchise they are in charge of. Really, some of these problems extend past simple server errors and the game should have been delayed to fix them. And as a fan, thats slightly annoying.

Good question. My guess is that the current QA process is inept to keep up with today's online gaming demands.

The list of AAA competitive/popular online games that don't work is longer than the list of ones that do.

BF4 (it still hasn't been fixed)
COD AW (terrible netcode)
Halo MCC (you know the drill)
DriveClub (you know the drill)
Destiny (Disconnects are becoming more and more problematic).

Destiny? I think I have been disconnected from that game maybe 2 times which is an astounding feat if I think about how many hours I have put into it.

After all the issues are fixed on Halo: MCC what do you guys think 343i will give the consumers in return for their hard earned money to play the game and their lost patience?

It's been discussed before, but I think the best option would be a a couple more free Halo 2 Anniversary maps for everyone. An extra week of Halo 5 beta means absolutely nothing to me.

Halo Reach and ODST free DLC and im fine :)
id also take more permanent dedicated CE playlists

Reach Anniversary was actually pretty good. I still play it once in awhile. To bad they took away the BTB playlist.

You will have to be crazy to rush to preorder Halo 5. Everyone is going to wait till it launches and sees the online before buying.

Reach has the worst multiplayer of the series imo. Not only did it introduce a bunch of shit that should never have been in a Halo game to begin with, the actual core mechanics of the game just didn't feel right. The aiming, movement and so on just felt off.
I didn't find the game fun at all. And don't get me started on what they did to BTB. If you didn't like Invasion, you were fucked.

Yeah Halo 4 added more bullshit on top of the already existing shit from Reach, but at least underneath those layers there was a fun game.

Give everyone a 25% refund for the trouble. All that can really subsidize the annoyance.

lately for me I am being disconnected randomly every few hours, sometimes as I try to do something like quit an objective or walk between loading zones.

But it happened 2 times so it has to be listed. We live in a 1 or 0 society where just to prove a point we have to exaggerate the shortcomings of something else.

Entitlement to a working product costs more than 60 dollars. It costs your ever-living soul and your first born, as well.

The only thing you are entitled to is being screwed for spending money on broken products.

Xbox Support is claiming they can't issue me a refund due to an issue on their side, though they promised they'll issue me a refund for the full $59.99 I paid once the issue is fixed.

Same for me and I really don't even like the game besides the raid. I only play with friends so it becomes even worse when we can't get a game going.

Got the 'untracked version, won't upload' bug 3 times today in Halo 4. I wonder how that one got through Q&A as it happens A LOT.

As far as I can tell sense there were different developers for each game that the plug and play aspect of putting each game into one unified menu/base code was not as easy as they would of hoped.

Unfortunately, I think it'll be at least 3 weeks. This is just a guess on my part.
I have other games to play in the meantime so I don't mind too much. But it's still pretty much unacceptable that consumers are expected to be ok with waiting a month or more after launch to use a $60 product. They should've just delayed it a month.
