80s style synth-pop/electro synth/cyberpunk music

It's The Outrunners appreciation day.
Running for Love and Money EP and Cool Feeling EP have been in my car playlist for the past 5 years and I've never seen all of their songs posted in one place, so here it is. https://theoutrunners.bandcamp.com/
Cool Feeling was also one of the first synthwave songs I had heard and what got me into the genre.
Followed by Valerie and Friends compilation.
Still one of the best synthwave compilations.

I want to make Synthwave but I don't know what software I should use. I don't really have a budget.

I want to be able to simulate a guitar in a few tracks as well, so preferably I would like a Music Software that would able me too play a guitar digitally.

TEK - Volume One

I have to shill for this fantastic album, which is actually a collaboration between Pengus, Phaserland and Matt Kwid. Definitely a must have for anyone that likes their relaxed, smooth synths as opposed to the darker, dystopian sound. The production is excellent, the guitars in particular sound fantastic. The whole piece just oozes style, easily one of my favourite finds.

You can start with the free version of FL Studio. You can create and export projects but not reload them. The full version costs $99 I think.

Critical moneydrain!

Perturbator Uncanny Valley release also has a simultaneous supporting EP release :D

Has some remixes of old tracks and a couple new ones that are not on the actual album.

Perturbator “The Uncanny Valley – Bonus” EP [2016]

PRE-ORDER: early March, 2016.

RELEASE: May 6th, 2016.

ARTWORK: Ariel ZB

As an addendum to “The Uncanny Valley” main album, there will be a long-form epilogue that includes further ruminations on themes within the storyline. The bonus EP will be released alongside the main album and contains four brand new tracks and three alternate versions of Perturbator album tracks.

The first three songs complement the themes covered within “The Uncanny Valley,” and the final track - “VERS/US” - is a demo from “The Uncanny Valley” writing sessions that fits the mood and atmosphere of the album but didn't quite make it into the final cut.
The bonus EP runs approximately 40 minutes in length, bringing the total experience of “The Uncanny Valley” in its special edition form to almost two hours.

TRACK LIST:
1. Vile World
2. The Church
3. Consecration
4. Hard Wired [Instrumental]
5. Venger [Instrumental]
6. Future Club [Arcade Version]
7. VERS/US [Demo]

Shit, the preorders start at random sometime next week, goodbye any sleep I might have had.
In the end I'm going for the Special Edition CD, the two shirts and one poster.
Hope it doesn't delete whatever savings I had.

So damn excited for The Uncanny Valley. I'm feeling it for the physical edition this time around.

Also watched Drive recently, one of the only movie scores as of late that I felt I had to obtain. The synth goodness of it is absorbing.

Speaking as someone who's dabbled with it (really only have one track that draws inspiration from this kind of genre but I definitely want to experiment it with more in the future), you can make a lot with surprisingly little.

FL Studio as mentioned earlier is a great kicking off point for beginner producers that has a demo you can try and is otherwise rather cheap. It's the software Perturbator uses as well, and he's cited Arturia and Gforce as VST makers he's commonly gotten things from. Personally I commonly enjoy using resynthesis-based software for this kind of music, Harmor comes to mind (it's rather expensive and is bundled with several FL Studio offers but it's amazingly versatile) but the usefulness of a Prophet 5 synth in this genre cannot be overstated. Plenty of makers have clones of them for software such as Prophet V (by the aforementioned Arturia) and Pro-53 (by Native Instruments).

Even simple oscillator software which can usually be found in just about every DAW can take you a rather long way once you shape them up to your liking. The best way to learn is to just experiment I've found.

So out of Fl Studio, Harmor, and Arturia Prophet V which ones the best?

FL Studio is the digital audio workstation itself. If you're looking for other options in terms of a DAW then you have several options including Ableton, Reason, Reaper etc. You can peruse the GAF Music Production Thread or even the Indie Game Development Thread to find a few alternatives and advice in that regard. Everything else I mentioned is instruments/VSTs/plugins that you use in the program so you're going to need to expand the base package of what you have regardless. That said, again, FL Studio comes bundled with a lot of versatile plugins you can use (which are also in the FL Studio demo) and several VSTs have demos themselves on offer where you can try to wrap your head around them.

It's great. The first track reminds me of Phoenix Wright, don't know why.
Considering buying the CD, even if it costs almost double with the postage.

Hmmmm, not sure if I should listen to it. Already heard the teaser for Assault and She Moves Like a Knife so I'm rather contented. I'm usually a bit reserved about listening to opening album tracks since I like being blown away when I first listen to an album.

Clear is cheaper than glow in the dark?

Isn't the clear most limited version though?

Same goes for the black/splatter/swirl versions.
Black is more limited than swirl or splatter but is cheaper
The pricing makes no sense =/

yeah the shipping is a total bitch =/

I'm tempted to get some of the other LPs too but the shipping costs on top of it are really putting me off!

Yeah same here, was going to order a few older Perturbator releases but decided against it during check out

Yeah, 15€ for me :(

Was almost 30€ shipping for the 3xLP set, it's another 24€ for another 2 LP =/
Nope!

Maybe next month when I have more money if they're still there, the black LP for Dangerous Days and I Am the Night don't appear to be limited according to facebook? Then again it's obvious they do sell out of things given the massive SOLD OUT watermarks throughout the site.
