80s style synth-pop/electro synth/cyberpunk music

Preordered. Thanks for posting this.

I'll let you guys know what happens. Up until now, its been very difficult to get a copy of this vinyl.

I asked Amazon about if this was a real thing, he said yes but I'm still not convinced :p Here is a transcript:

Initial Question: Is this actually coming in and in vinyl format? I haven't heard of there being any represses of the LP so I am surprised.

I am slightly wary of the April 1st release date...

02:06 PM GM Jeffrey(Amazon): Hello, my name is Jeffrey from Amazon customer service team. I’ll be glad to help you today.
02:07 PM GM Ryan Burgess: hello
02:08 PM GM Ryan Burgess: ??
02:08 PM GM Jeffrey: I'm checking this for you.
02:08 PM GM Ryan Burgess: Okay thank you
02:10 PM GM Jeffrey: Could you please elaborate the query so that I can assist you in the best possible way?
02:10 PM GM Ryan Burgess: In what way?
02:11 PM GM Ryan Burgess: This vinyl http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B011MQJP3S/
Hasn't had a repress announced and is sold out everywhere
It is up for preorder here for release on April 1st
Does this actually exist?
02:14 PM GM Jeffrey: Yes, I see that it is a VINYL and it will be released on April 1, 2016
02:14 PM GM Ryan Burgess: Where are you getting it from?
Have you had contact with the label stating there is going to be a repress?
02:15 PM GM Ryan Burgess: or that they have copies for you to sell?
02:15 PM GM Jeffrey: We have supplier as the company who will be launching this in UK
02:16 PM GM Ryan Burgess: What is the name of the supplier?
02:16 PM GM Jeffrey: Let me check this for you.
02:16 PM GM Ryan Burgess: Thanks
02:19 PM GM Jeffrey: Thank you for waiting.
I see that the publisher name is " Neuropa" and mostly they will be our suppliers.
02:20 PM GM Ryan Burgess: Okay then thank you
You have confirmation from them that you are getting these vinyls for this release?
02:21 PM GM Jeffrey: Yes, exactly. If there are any update we will send you a confirmation email.
02:21 PM GM Ryan Burgess: Okay then thank you very much for your help.
02:21 PM GM Jeffrey: You're welcome. I'll be happy if I could be of any more help for you today.
02:21 PM GM Ryan Burgess: That is all thanks
02:22 PM GM Jeffrey: Thank you for contacting Amazon. Have a good day.
Once you hit 'End Chat,' there will be a quick question that just lets me know if you were happy with how I handled your chat today - I would really appreciate any feedback if you have a spare minute!

I don't know if anybody knows but you can listen to 30 second snippets of the songs right now on Amazon.

It was news to me anyway.

Oh shieeeeeeeeeeet.

Weapons For Children, Venger, Femme Fatale, Sentient, Assault and The Uncanny Valley so far sound like my kinda thing! Love the vocals on Venger, especially. Also, Femme Fatale sounds TOO Vangelis-esque. This is gonna rule hard.

Nice. Thanks.

I could go for an entire album of Femme Fatale-esque tracks tbh. The harder stuff is cool, but after a few years of listening to that kinda thing I'm a little burnt out on that style.

Awesome, thanks!

Here's a few tracks you might like:

Mitch Murder - Glass Cities
d.notive - VistaView Motel
Dance With The Dead - Nightdrive
Sebastian Gampl - Freedom Fighter

'Of all the raging stupidity.

"The Uncanny Valley" artwork was deemed too explicit by Blood Music's digital distributor vis-à-vis overprotective rules from iTunes, which has affected upload to Spotify, Google Play, and nearly every other digital service.

We vehemently refuse to package a censored version of the art as an official release, as it is simply a **drawing** of a woman with no shirt on. Technically not even a woman at that - an android with human female form.
This wouldn't be much different than demanding that the Venus de Milo needs to put a shirt on before exhibition. Or any of the thousands of other pieces of fine art depicting the naked human form that are freely on display for people of all ages and backgrounds around the world.

We were forced to choose the back album cover of "The Uncanny Valley" as the art for digital distribution to all digital stores except Bandcamp.

We believe this is an embarrasment to all outlets who find this art too explicit to be shown.'

---

Not surprised.

Brutes KMFDM covers are up on iTunes, I'm thinking it's the distributior being overly cautious. I brought this up to Blood Music on Twitter, he's unsure who is actually rejecting it but does not have the time to contest it.

KMFDM album art up on iTunes for reference.

Decided to pick up the Dangerous Days LP, got the blood red one for £44 which isn't too bad.

That should keep me occupied for the next few months. DD this month, (hopefully) Trilogy next month, Uncanny Valley in May and Hotline Miami in June.

Just saw Amazon has sellers offering other Perturbator vinyls (presumably older presses) for just slightly cheaper than the new presses.
So grabbed I am the Night and Dangerous Days :D

Means I don't need to wait until May, save a bit of money and avoid any possible tax charges, and get a presumably older/rarer copy!

This should be good:

Drive Radio - Selection Volume 1

https://lazerdiscs.bandcamp.com/album/selection-volume-1

1. Waveshaper - Showdown
2. Volt Age feat. Jakob Betke - Black Ice
3. The Midnight - The Equalizer (Not Alone)
4. Niky Nine feat. Absolute Valentine - Road Part 2
5. Lazerhawk - Space Station
6. Absolute Valentine - Extreme Drift
7. Phaserland - Night Rain
8. Robert Parker - Race To Paris
9. Dance With The Dead - Snapped
10. Ludrium - Starlight Desire

Nice, i didn't realise there was a thread on this topic!

Can you guys give me some recommendations? I've been listening to the same albums all the time and could do with something else to listen to.

I really like Kavinsky - Outrun, Lazerhawk - Redline and Visitors and Miami Nights 1984 and looking for something similar.

I tried listening to some Mitch Murder but it didn't seem to be the same style - maybe i was listening to the wrong tracks?

I'd say Mitch Murder has a very distinct "modern 80s" sound as it doesn't sound exactly retro, but it doesn't sound completely modern at the same time.

Rossa Corsa Records is a good label to follow (I think Miami Nights released some of his tracks there).

I'm no expert, but I enjoy this style of music and found some by sifting through the recent pages.

Sure!

Give Waveshaper, Sebastian Gampl, Tommy '86, Starcadian, Betamaxx, Le Matos, d.notive and Highway Superstar a listen.

If you like a dark, aggressive sound, I'd recommend Carpenter Brut, Dance With The Dead and Perturbator.

If you enjoy vocals, I'd recommend Le Cassette, Cheap Talk and Dana Jean Phoenix.

There are also some pretty great compilations. I'm especially fond of the NewRetroWave compilations like Magnatron, Maximum Burn EP and the 80's Dream Compilation Tapes.

Browse my Bandcamp page if you'd like some more tips: http://bandcamp.com/romeo

Carpenter Brut's vinyl on Amazon for $70.

That's.. a lot.

I guess I'll wait for the next print run.

Well if I were to buy it from Germany I would have to pay 75€ - for the CD version, Vinyl shows up for 137€...

I think it's a pricing error?

By the way, is that the second pressing with the alternate cover or the first?

I'm doing a quick browse of the recent ten pages or so and the Dance with the Dead album is really good.

I hope they put something out on vinyl (if they haven't already).

I guess I'll pull the trigger on Amazon's Trilogy, I've got two weeks to kill it.

If I remember correctly, their pre-order prices for recent Perturbator stuff was grossly inflated as well and they dropped right before they shipped.

I appreciate and yearn for that Carpenter Trilogy LP but 70$ ? ? ? ? ?

I think I'll buy three Miles Davis records instead, thanks. This limited supply shit is lame.

I'm (probably) not going to pay $70 for it, I'm just locking one in and hoping the price comes down.

Also, it was about $50 after shipping ordering it direct, so $20 extra isn't completely nuts.

And yeah, the limited print run crap sucks, that was never a thing the last time I was really big into vinyl.

It just seems incredibly artificial given these artists (seemingly) are near selling out via pre-orders at exorbitant prices that only collectors would go for. Obviously the demand is there, keep them in fucking stock!

But we all know what they're doing- making a super thick profit off their own damn fans because they know eventually 300 - 400 people will pay.

Whatever. My man John Carpenter seems to be able to release 20$ LPs of his newest records and he's not exactly in demand by the press nowadays.

Has Lazerhawk really not released an album since Skull and Shark? Damn.

Just checked his Facebook page; apparently he's gonna release a new album in the not-too-distant future! It was scheduled to be released in April, but unfortunately one of his speakers died and it'll take about a month to be returned and replaced.

I think a lot of it has to do with there's so few companies producing vinyl so it costs the smaller label more money upfront. While the big guys can get better price based on the volume they have the ability to order.

I do think a lot of the prices are exorbitant but you pay for that niche I guess. As mentioned above I don't know if its financially viable for these smaller labels to continuously print these LPs, so the price may be somewhat justified.

JC is pretty big in comparison and can have a pressing of 5000 copies straight up. They have the money.

Smaller artists have to often pay everything themselves and try to make a living off music. So just selling the records at 10$/pop isn't going to pay any bills.

I recently made my first test pressing and would need about 2000€ extra money to pay for a vinyl pressing of only 150 copies.

But sure, yeah some albums are pretty overpriced even as such.

I purchased this EP yesterday:

Tracklist:

1. Last Light
2. Still Haunting Me
3. I Wanna Know
4. Another Life, Another Time

Bandcamp page: https://magicdance.bandcamp.com/

The music leans a lot more towards AOR than synthwave, but I thought it'd be nice to share here since the 80s vibe is very strong on this EP. My favourite track is I Wanna Know; the melody and vocals are great and it just nails that moody 80s AOR sound so well.

That Robert Parker - Crystal City is really growing on me.

I thought it was "too 80's" at first, as I kind of like the stuff that modernizes that sound (if that makes sense) but I'm on my third spin of it, so.

I might scoop up the vinyl once I recover from the Hotline Miami Kickstart and Carpenter Brut preorder.
