New Perturbator track from the bonus EP.

And that's just a bonus track.

I just received my shipping notification for my Trilogy vinyl. It's strange that orders are being being fulfilled so slowly.

BTW is the Uncanny Valley bonus EP going to be available digitally?

TEK - Volume One

I have to shill for this fantastic album, which is actually a collaboration between Pengus, Phaserland and Matt Kwid. Definitely a must have for anyone that likes their relaxed, smooth synths as opposed to the darker, dystopian sound. The production is excellent, the guitars in particular sound fantastic. The whole piece just oozes style, easily one of my favourite finds.

So I'm going to do a cheeky self reply to this because any one who liked TEK - Volume One will like this:

Pengus - Victory Lap

This is just a 4 track EP but the sound and style will be familiar to those of you that listened to TEK. Pengus does this great thing where he builds a core rhythm that chugs along nicely and then spins these unique individual melodies off that core.

The second track in particular, Krung Thep made me stop what I was doing the first time I heard it because I was just engrossed by it. Anyway, as someone who enjoys the upbeat, almost jazzy side of synthwave I highly reccomend it.

Isn't TEK just a collaboration of various artists, including Pengus?
Either way, I loved TEK's album, so I'll listen to the EP.

Perturbator's End Theme is one of my favourites.

I just love how it suddenly drastically changes atmosphere and morphs from this pretty upbeat melody to this crazy dark synthwave. When that beat kicks in you know shit just got real. Awesome as hell.

Girl In A Black Dress and Naked Tongues are other great tracks. Really atmospheric. I love his more melodic/ambient work. The pounding beats are great, but I like it when he does more deeper tracks.

Like Darkest Alleys, that huge shift of pace in the middle is so freaking genius. Dark as fuck.

That's some laid-back, funky stuff. Nice find!

Holy fuck.

What are Perturbators best tracks?

My favourite Perturbator tracks are:

Satanic Rites (gotta love that stomping synth sound; it reminds me a little bit of Streets of Rage 3's character select music)
Future Club (cool tune with a dark, moody vibe)
Perturbator's Theme (very energetic tune that never loses steam)
Complete Domination (an attack on the senses)
Meet Jimmy (moody and atmospheric)
Deviance (upbeat and light-hearted)

I'm rather new to buying vinyl and have only just discovered that anything not black is subject to more background noise and interference?

How screwed am I that I bought the more limited and expensive clear vinyl version of The Uncanny Valley? >_<

If I knew this at the time I'd just have gotten the black, and Blood Music don't do refunds or cancellations ;_;

Pff, nonsense. Only picture disks/liquid filled/glow in the dark/some substance not vinyl in the record itself can have more surface noise. Due to this additional "stuff" in the record.

And even with those it's just about the plant and their quality. On most audio devices you will not notice the difference.

Coloured vinyl sounds just as good as the black ones.

I think the general consensus is that all of Perturbator's tracks are Perturbator's best tracks.

And I'm ok with that.

This totally sounds like the kind of stuff you'd find at the red book audio portion of some Sega Mega CD or PC-Engine-Duo videogame. Which is kinda awesome.

I received my Trilogy vinyl from Amazon UK! The shipping package kept it in good condition too.

How do I determine which version I own?

Also, here's a really cool new interview at VICE.

SYNTHWAVE OVERLORD PERTURBATOR IS THE REAL NEON ICON

'What were some of the new influences that went into your new album, Uncanny Valley?

After Dangerous Days, I started to listen to a lot of – this is going to sound weird, but I start to listen to a lot of jazz. There’s a track on the album [”Femme Fatale”], I wanted to make a semi-jazz electronic thing. It’s Perturbator trying to be jazz, which is a bit funny, a bit silly, but I think it came out pretty well. I also got way more interested in the 70s, like the Moog-sounding soundtracks from weird obscure horror movies – the old Satanic exploitation movies from the 70s, especially Italian movies. Like I said, Goblin, who are masters at that kind of stuff. Out of all the pioneers – the Tangerine Dreams, the John Carpenters – Goblin sound the most occult. I got really into it. I was aware of it before, but I got really into it after Dangerous Days, so it really influenced the way I made this new album. It’s probably the most occult-sounding one I’ve done yet. There are definitely more vintage sounds from the 70s.
