80s style synth-pop/electro synth/cyberpunk music

I'm reminded of some low-budget British fantasy movie that I watched on TV once. It was some really generic fantasy crap, but what struck me about the movie was the soundtrack went really fucking heavy on the 80s synth. It did my nut in actually because it was so hardcore and didn't fit the movie at all. Almost comical in a way.

I'll never remember what that movie was unfortunately though. It was clearly made on the cheap, so it probably isn't that well known.

Lmao

I can't believe I found that movie. It was 'Hawk the Slayer'. The whole soundtrack is pretty much hardcore 80s synthesizer. It's so heavy on it that it begins to really do your head in.

This kind of gives you an idea:

I own Hawk the Slayer on DVD, and yes the music is great.

I think this compilation has been mentioned a few times, but I'll mention it again.

Can't stop playing this! Starforce - Future Romance (feat. Epydemic)

Great thread, I believe it introduced me to Tesla Boy. Sorry I don't have anything to add, but i'll try and find some stuff!

Subbed.

OP, if it's not been mentioned check out the Frozen Synapse OST on iTunes or elsewhere, it's more cyberpunk than anything, but it's great.

After growing up loving John Carpenter soundtracks I'm just finding shit like Lazerhawk and, thanks to this thread, Powerglove. Also Carpenter Brut which sort of also fits the bill. Kind of been searching for this shit since the Hotline Miami 2 trailer.

This is good life soundtrack shit.

and yeah, i'm running this thing in Helsinki, dont know if there's a club based on neudisco/retrowave anywhere else? (Sorry if this comes off as an advertisement but this genre needs more love :D)

Okay, now I'm jealous. I would actually go to a club with this music, clubs around me are fucking awful, rap and pop. Meh

Could you imagine it? I'd be like walking INTO Blade Runner. Or the neo-80s. Either way, it would be fucking awesome.

BYO oversized 80s sunglasses and leather jacket.

Man, really been digging on this thread lately. Fucking LOVE Lazerhawk and Carpenter Brut and just now gave Perturbator a go. Good shit. I love that all this stuff is on Google Play, too, so it's already on the service I subscribe to.

Too much great shit. It's like a world where John Carpenter became the world's most popular musician and finally decided to just make soundtracks full time and just inspired even more dudes in the following decades.
