Well okay, not entirely true ;) I made an account ages ago but never remembered it getting approved tbh. So I just kinda tried to log in and it worked. But I sorta did! ;D

...to tell you that the answers are finally up!

I can't really link you directly to the page (I mean, I could, but you'd just have to re-hit the link after you went through the age gate), but if you go to http://www.aksysgames.com/999 and click on the "answers" tab, you should find what you're looking for.

Have fun, and enjoy having your theories utterly invalidated by word from on high (some of you)!

Now read, my friends! And revel in the majesty and glory of THE ANSWERS!

We should hopefully have the clarification for question 24 tomorrow :)

74 questions answered! Whee!

Alright everyone, you know what to do. :P

That bit of hex on #24 translates to "waiting for response from chunsoft" if anyone wants to know.

Edit: This is kinda pissing me off. Tons of the questions refer you to #24, and all we have is a hex code. Does this mean Chunsoft doesn't want to say...?

Edit Edit: Lol, nvm. Just read newer thread posts.

So I didn't understand the bit about Seven. Did he have memories of Akane dying but then they kept changing so he was having headaches?

And I Don't know why but I never realized that June getting a fever meant she was close to burning. I knew it meant she was close to dying but I never related fever to high temperatures of burning. Stupid me.

WHY ISN'T THE LINK WORKING IT JUST TAKES ME TO THE MAIN AKSYS SITE WTF

Edit: works in Chrome, for whatever reason

Annnnnd done! My brain is currently melting!
And I love it!

That was a very interesting read. My respect for the overall story has gone through the damn roof!

That guy is a genius and deserves a ton of respect for answering all those questions so thoroughly.

Yeah.....if not, poor Junpei. I mean after all that!

read the first few questions.

thanks but no thanks. too much information.

He says it in another answer too, so ya... he never caught up with her I guess

Akane was the mastermind, and her scheme lead to the deaths of at least a few people. How could she show her face to them after doing all of that? That's why she's hiding. (Also, I mentioned [earlier] that she had to go begin preparing for the larger thing she had planned.

We have the answer, we're just waiting on clarification from them before posting it ;)

That's why we were going to hold back the answers till tomorrow, but the demand was too high not to release them :)

So hopefully they'll get back to us tomorrow :)

Gotcha. Do want. *drool*

I actually kind of like the fact that she couldn’t face them all after what she had put them all through.

And she’s on her way to the second part of her plan!? SEQUEL! SEQUEL! SEQUEL! GIVE IT TO MEEEE!

He makes Akane out to be much more evil than she was portrayed in the game. Don't know how they would do it to reflect his intentions, but that's pretty interesting.

Holy shit @ Question 59?

Edit: May be made more clear by the answer of 24, when Chunsoft gets back to them. Apparently the game takes place in 2027, so there may have been some sort of memory implantation technique used on both Seven and Snake.

Akane was in the gas mask all along?! Mindfuck! I would have sworn it was Aoi carrying out the dirty work...

Got the question I wondered about the noise Snake heard answered in this Q&A also, so that's like a bonus to me.

Akane had seen everything through Junpei's "eyes" 9 years before. If she didn't recreate the situation exactly, then she wouldn't have been able to save herself as a child. That's the reason for the gun, and why it was loaded.
Called it.

Akane had to recreate everything exactly, because she had seen everything exactly. There was no real choice involved.

Gotta chase after your love <3

Leaves room for sequels ;)

Makes me think of "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" haha

I never would have made her out to be this evil.....but I love it! The fact that she dumped everyone else to go onto her next step makes her a really believable character.

Well, she's not super bad XD;

I guess my favorite would be Akane. My intention was to create the world's worst heroine, but how well did that work out? She's pretty bad, but there's still some sense of purity in her, and she's also noble. I guess...you could categorize her as a genius... Her motives are too grand in scale for an ordinary person to ever understand her. I love all of my characters, though.

Indeed, it paints a very different picture than what one might expect (beyond the anti-hero classification she fell into already and debatably closer to anti-villain even).

Oh well, at least the sub ending turned out exactly as I thought was the case.

EDIT:

Wow. That's...depressing.

Considerably so.

Nope, they didn't. Junpei goes on the spend the rest of his life chasing after her.

Wow. That's...depressing.

Would you consider partnering up with Aksys Games to continue to develop great visual novel titles for release in Japan and the US? If yes, then Aksys Games will work with maximum efforts to localize the game without flaws.
I wonder who asked this one :P

Especially after reading these answers, I think it's probably for the best. Not only is Akane much more cold and calculating than she appears to be during the game, she is now a millionaire leading a fairly sizable organization of secret operatives which is powerful enough to kidnap and transport nine people a fair distance while avoiding the police. I don't think it would be possible for ordinary college student Junpei - who hasn't seen Akane in years, remember - to have a stable long-term relationship with her.

the explanation for Lotus's involvement was such a cop-out

I'm now entirely convinced that Lotus was there purely for sex appeal. I mean, Q70 practically confirms this.

What are the heights of each character? What are the measurements for the female characters? (bust/waist/hips)

FINALLY, A LIGHT QUESTION! Unfortunately, I'm sorry... I didn't really give the characters specific atributes like that. All I know is that Lotus has big boobs. That's for sure. She used to live in Silicon Valley, but her boobs are not filled with silicon. They are ALL NATURAL.

Yeah, it's really disappointing he couldn't come up with better answers about Lotus.

It does take something away from the character to be inserted in so superficially.

mm, that's when I closed the window. I'd like to remember 999 for what I thought it was.

HOLY FUCK at these answers! I'm only on question 16 and am already shitting bricks! I didn't think he would actually say Akane was evil. I expected him to say that Santa did it and that Akane didn't want him to.

The interview gave a few new layers to Santa and June but definitely, in my eyes, took away from Lotus and Seven. He didn't even try to come up with good answers for them.

I think he really only focused on a few of the characters and didn't really care about the others, which wasn't apparent in the game (to its benefit). It's sad, because I wanted to believe that every character was equally important, as the game kind of treated them.

I was hoping for last names for Snake and Clover, in addition to Junpei would've come up. Could've been worse, like poor Seven (who didn't even have a real name planned at all).

Where the author doesn't fill in details, you're free to invent your own! At least that's the approach that helps me to enjoy certain narratives better, like the ending of Clannad. I'm still going to believe that Lotus was brought on the ship to help her understand what her daughters went through no matter what Uchikoshi does or doesn't say.

In the end, there's enough interesting and mind-blowing new info in this interview that I'm not disappointed with what it doesn't include. It's not like even the game treats all characters equally after all - the 9th Man sure didn't receive much character development!

Anyone know what the numbers in #66 mean? Also, I wish I would have remembered to ask how Ace got his injury. :(

Pretty much referring to the question of Snake's theory.

129450789

9 in place of 3, 0 in place of 6 (which according to Uchikoshi, is apparently still viable in the event of wanting to conclude Santa's number was really 9 and June's was 0, as opposed to 3 = 0 and 6 = 9).

On a different note, it still doesn't make much sense to me that June risked the whole plan from the very beginning by having the 9th Man get blown up, knowing full well it would trigger a fever.
