You gotta love how they put a 60fps trailer on PS Store.

Nice view bait.

the market destroyed my pc at 1440p even with dlss on and I'm running a 3080 12gb and 5800x3d. Dips down to 40... Thats like the most demanding areas in cyberpunk with raytracing maxed. Game isnt interesting enough to push through the horrible optimization. Looks nice but not really getting the hyperbole in here. good thing it's a gamepass title.

Yesterday I get the platinum of Innocence (I loved it) and today I bought Requiem for PS5. In only played 10 minutes but the jump in graphic quality is the biggest I've seen from PS4 to PS5. I'm shocked because, to me, the improvement seems more impressive than Horizon FW, The Last of us part 1 or Ratchet & Clank.

It's true that playing at 30fps after beating the previous one at 60fps feels jarring, but I can understand the framecap limit seeing these graphics. I'm sure I will be used to 30fps as I played those three games I mentioned in quality mode at 30fps.

I haven't seen everything when it comes to combat yet, but what they did with stealth so far is a big improvement over original game. Checkpoints are MUCH better now, so you just can't start encounter each time from the biginning like in original game, thank fuck for that. You also can't die from the first or even second strike when enemies hit you, unlike instant game over in the fist game everytime you're seen by anyone. Enemies are way smarter now, searching you everywhere so you can't feel safe anywhere if rats not helping you keep them at bay. There's also more options to do stealth by hiding under tables and stuff like that, throwing rocks (which are unlimited now) quickly to avoid detection and make a split second decisions. All in all, they've improved gameplay big time and I can't be more happy to see this, cuz I hated the first game's guts for the way stealth, save system and combat worked in it.

But if there's one thing to complain about, it has to be the way stupid scripts work (spoiler):
So you can save herbalist in one of the chapters, but to fuckin' do it, I had to replay this fuckin' moment like 20+ effin' times cuz I could't make rats to eat only soldiers, or soldier rushed for me and herbalist died cuz of rats etc. etc. etc. Each time something stupid happened and I had to replay. I was at a point of throwing my DualSense at a monitor. Why the fuck does it have to be SO effin' hard to save an NPC, huh? Asobo, are you effin' nuts? Jesus fuckin' Christ almighty.

This exact thing in your spoiler tag pissed me off so much that I shut down you: after failing to do it for the twentieth time and just continuing a bit before shutting the game down so I wouldn't have to do it again when I boot it up again. That was just bad design. I love the rest of the game though.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Well you CAN just move on from that point without consequence tho lol

It's not a mandatory thing and just adds to the games oppressive atmosphere.

Anyone else have some performance numbers with DLSS 3.0? I have to try and get to these areas some are talking about to see how it holds up.

SSRraytracedshadows were enabled already so I didn't touch that, I turned raytracing to 1 and raytracedshadows to 1 and no difference, same framerate and couldn't see any changes to shadows (I was in an underground area with rats and numerous lights so there should have been an impact). I noticed when I quit the game it set raytracing back to 0 so I changed it again and set the file to read only and tried again and same story no performance impact and no visible changes.
RT OFF, much higher framerate:

There are few differences in shadows.

Didn’t they say they are patching in RT for consoles? Wouldn’t bother at this rate.

Just a note , it doesn’t boot on steam deck lol

Maybe it's only tracing shadows from the sun source light, I didn't try a place with sun lighting thinking a darker place with more light sources would be better. The main difference I see there is the shadows on the left halfway down the hallway casting shadows from the sun light outside is more defined.

Can confirm this is mostly accurate. They didn't list the spec but it's all probably high end where I have slower DDR4 and last gen CPU (5900x 3600mhz DDR4).

And regardless of what a still shot can do, in game and in motion it looks great.

And this is just the first iteration of frame generation.

Comparing DLSS 3 to DLSS off seems pretty disengenuous. It should be compared to DLSS 2 in performance mode (which apparently has better iq to quality mode with frame generation enabled).

About to start this bad boy up on series x since I just rolled credits on innocence. Fucking love the first game pretty much turned into grim dark fantasy at the end starting with the trip back home. Felt like playing in the witcher universe.

Are you from one of those people who haven't save a soldier from rats in Innocence?:messenger_anguished:
There's a crap ton of bad things happening in both games and the fact that you can save someone in that world (and there's plenty of hints that you can and should do it) is a good thing and you should do that whenever possible. I mean, otherwise you're just an emotionless and hartless killing machine and clearly Amicia is not such a person.

wait until you arrive the 300k rats place. then the game becomes super CPU bound. supposedly 3700x tops around 35-40 fps in those scenes. which could explain why they locked it to 30/40. ihowever the game is not completely compromised of rat scenes, so a VRR unlocked mode would be great

yeah, gladiator place definetely kills the CPU with rats;

joys of having full creative control over VRR thankfully enabled me to play the game at 60+ frames up until this point. it is still interesting however. i will proceed to play with variable framerates
I've Aorus Master 3070 and 8700K (OC'd to 4,8 GHz on all cores) and playing in 4K with DLSS Quality locked at 30FPS loading the game from PCI-E 3.0 NVMe SSD (https://www.gigabyte.com/SSD/AORUS-RGB-M2-NVMe-SSD-512GB#kf). Pretty much all the way through up until Chapter IV (which I only just started playing) - locked 30 FPS with a few stutters here and there not related to rats but more so cuz of the streaming issues - I can't think of any other reason tbh. Idk why anyone would play such a demanding game at 60 FPS when clearly it is only possible on RTX 4000 series in 4K cuz the game is 100% GPU bound and even 3080 Ti can barely handle it in 4K at 60 with DLSS.

This really explains 30fps lock for this game. Game super GPU heavy but you can always lower resolution and achieve it but CPU limits are in a different category. This is the first game i think of that is CPU limited on new consoles and it fully explains frame rate cap. Plus 3700x is stronger than laptop versions in consoles soc.

But as always, devs could probably just cut number of rats in half and get 60fps... It's always the matter of their decisions.

It is possible on the 3070 with 4K / DLSS performance to get 60 FPS. I practically get near 60 FPS performance across all scenes so far, bar that specific place. CPU is the limitation there. Outside of that, it is real easy to get 60 FPS locked with midrange and highend 3000 cards.

No point in locking to 30 when you can get 60 FPS half the time. VRR exists for such reasons.

I wish I wouldn't have to say it but... the game is a bloody mess when in it comes to technical aspects such as scpipts, how they work (or don't work at all) as well as clearly not finished / polished animations when you're using cranks etc.
cT3gPhd.jpg

Just had to replay one section in Chapter IV where you need to light up 3 pools with fire. One time soldier showed up, I lowered the bridge for him to let him pass to use the second crank, but then I got blocked from using the main crank which is controling the bridge with a huge barrel. Had to restart. Second time I forgot to stand on that bridge with the barrel and got locked from progression. Had to restart. Third time soldier just refused to show up no matter what I did. Had to restart until it all worked, but barely.

Now, when it comes to unfinished stuff. Sometimes (but not always), moving crank animation plays fine, but other times when crank is fixed in position, Amicia (or Lucas) continues to turn it in an endless loop while crank itself is not moving. The way bridge mechanisms work in this section in particular also wasn't finished / polished, cuz when you move the bridge with the huge barrel, it just teleports a few meter 3-4 times and going through textures and objects, which clearly weren't properly adjusted to a hight needed for the bridge with a barrel to pass.
The game needs patches asap, the more, the better, cuz it clearly wasn't tested well and got rushed to hit the release date.

No point in locking to 30 when you can get 60 FPS half the time. VRR exists for such reasons.
My monitor or TV don't have VRR support. I rather play at a rock solid 30 cuz it's not possible for 3070 to hit 60 with almost everything cranked up to Ultra in 4K with DLSS Quality.

Yeah, I use DLSS perf at 4K (looks good enough for me) + low/med/high mixed settings. Your approach is cool too. I couldn't notice a huge difference between mixed settings and maxed out. DLSS Perf is a great performance increase factor but it may not be good for you so it depends.

Surprised no one seems to be mentioning that the main characters have completely lost their French accents in this sequel.
Doesnt bother me or anything but just surprised no one in the media is talking about it with how petty they can be with stuff like this.
Motherfucker thats why alchemy boy sounded different.

DLSS is practically a must with this game, which doesn't seem right. They definitely need to improve their scaling in graphics options and optimize the game further.

Decided to continue to where you first spot the rats.

Took DLSS 2.0 VS 3.0 screens. HDR off this time.

Someone should post a screenshot from the start of chapter 6 or 7, the one where you walk down to the beach from the cliff. Walking along the beach when the kid runs off through the birds was quite the eye candy.

My nitpick criticisms aside, Requiem is a good game - it ticks most of the boxes for a good adventure and is so far fairly well paced. I've been invested in the journey and havent really been taken out of it by some weirdness in the writing.

Out of all the third person adventure games I've played recently between Steelrising, Soulstice and this - Requiem is easily my favorite out of the three. The other two wears

The US English digital PSN version apparently comes voiced in multiple languages, including some which are not typically part of the same region.

For me it scratches that stealth itch in the same way that a certain revered UBI stealth title did. Only with nearly opposite stealth mechanics.

I love it.

What a dev, what an accomplishment. Real next gen is here!

Yep, the lighting and asset quality is superb.

And this is a small studio. Amazing work.

Also we need a spoiler thread !!

I can only hope it ends up being a big sales success for Asobo cause they deserve it.

The longer I play, the more impressed I am. What they created as a small indie studio ist remarkable.

It’s also clear that the team took some heavy inspiration from Naughty dog. At times it feels like uncharted and the last of us. That’s one hell of an accomplishment.
