AC shadows at max settings @4K is the reason why having a top of the line PC is awesome.

Okay, this is soft, but I gotta come out of the closet… I spent a solid 15 minutes just playing in the snow. That's some premium-grade powder they got, Ubisoft's a 5-star snow dealer. Respect.

Maybe it's just me but this is the only impressive looking screenshot in this thread so far.

The rest of the screenshots look decent but nothing 'amazing'. There is a very good sense of scale.

You have to see it live, there is such a huge difference when you play it on a big OLED TV in person, youtube and screenshots dont do justice, trust me

Clearly ps5 pro version looks like shit in comparison and you need a pc for that.
Shame it's not "4k". Could've looked so much better (not)

It looks really great on ps5 pro, i have it through a friends gameshare but I wish I could test it out on my 4080 (not enough to pay any money for it tho lol)

Yep it looks stunning:

Based on what I've seen it's pretty much the only reason I'll pick it up at some point. I'm a graphics whore, so there's an easy way to my heart.

I think you need to see it running natively in front of you to fully appreciate it.

Of course I bought it for full price then found out I could have got it for free ffs

What? The game looks very poor compared to other modern games, and compared to previous AC games. Is it just me, or does there appear to be some very manufactured praise for this game?

I mean there's endless reasons.

  • Indiana Jones & The Great Circle
  • Alan Wake II
  • Silent Hill 2
  • Avatar
  • Kingdom Come Deliverance II
  • Hellblade II
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Control
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Switch games at 4k/60+fps
  • Bloodborne 4k/60+fps
  • Retro RTX games (Portal/Half-Life 2/Quake II/etc..etc..)
  • PS3 emulation
  • Xbox 360 emulation
  • OG Xbox emulation
  • retro emulation
  • RTX HDR
  • Reshade
  • Mods
  • etc.. etc.. etc..

High-end PC gaming is just absolutely incredible if you can afford it.
This

Looking forward to playing Half Life 2 RTX - the demo was great

I'm trying to stay under the rock but I feel so baited with this.

The reason PC gaming is good is AC Shadows? My world has changed overnight and I no longer understand shit.

Not a new 5000 series GPU to be found in the world. They gave all of the 1st batch away to youtubers to review and then stopped making gamer stuff.

Pick one.
I am playing quality mode on pro at 30fps and it's fine. It plays just fine.
Obviously 40fps at 120hz is infinitely better but I prefer how 30 looks.
It plays better than most other 30fps modes in games this generation.
It's not as sluggish, deadzones on controller are set correctly and motion blur is very nice.

Of course 30fps is fucking unplayable on pc with mouse and motion blur turned off. I am agreeing here. of course.
But with controller and good motion blur and good deadzones? PERFECT. FINE. no problem. It's like a 2nd 30fps game I am playing in past.... 5 years and I am having a great time.
honestly brings me back to 360 and ps4 era when we were wowed with every new AAA game and nobody cared it runs 25-30fps lol

Good shots, but please for the love of god, turn off Chromatic Aberration. It makes your vegetation and leaves blurry.

Nonsense.
Chromatic Abberration is also great. It helps it looking less gamey... I know it's hard to describe.
But I remember original reason for CA invention in games and it's working great here.
Really it kinda works as additional AA and grounding the image. Nothing wrong with it. I like it
(Motion blur in this game is also great. Little on camera and fine tuned on animations. People, do NOT turn it off blindly!!!!)

To each their own but that was the first thing I could spot lol. I'm just not a fan.

I mean test it yourself. Take some shot with it and without it.
It really blends the whole image together.
At least on ps5 pro... because we don't have PSSR yet. I can imagine DLSS blending/grounding the image well together also. It's really good at that.
As soon as PSSR will be here, I will see about turning it off. But I like it so far.

I think so. The game seems to be really well optimized.

And try turning on raytracing, one of the few times where the feature is actually impressive and makes a big difference (Unlike in MHW where it's not even worth it to toggle on)
I'll try it actually looks so much better than valhalla but i'm little bit scared of performance 👍

Same but there are simply too many games I want to play first. In a few months they will iron out more of the kinks and it will be dirt cheap on key sites (for Uplay anyway).

maxresdefault.jpg
my 30fps gamepaly looks smoother than that video you quoted.
I might switch to 40fps mode for good if PSSR patch is any good. as of now, I prefer quality mode

It does look pretty good. But most AC games did and do actually look pretty good. I'd argue that Unity still looks quite good.

I think Ubi did a better job with Avatar and SWO (Environments, SWO characters look like PS3 models).

this looks good, but yeah "TRUE NEXT GEN" or whatever other people a saying here is a bit ludicrous, it looks good,

So does Odyssey. I actually think Odyssey looks better than Valhalla but maybe that's just because the setting was so much prettier.

I was doubting Avatar and SWO but ACS also does not look that impressive on videos... and it's incredible in real time on my tv.
So now I am inclined to try those other games too lol

Avatar, due to the nature of the art style can seriously pop, especially on a great screen, SWO is more impressive in some planets vs others, you can see the ones that didn't get the same love and care.

I've only played about 3 hrs of AC:S on ubi connect Plus or whatever it's called so i can't say it's overall quality, but yeah so far it's up there in line with the rest of Ubisofts works.

Ubi games never really look bad to be honest, Even Breakpoint still holds up on good PC.

This does a great job of showcasing that shadows is indeed A gigantic leap forward.

The thread and it's title is an obvious bait bro.
besides.... screenshots are screenshots. This is how the game looks anywhere.... if I said it's pc, you would have no reason not to believe it
There are tons of other AC threads, screenshot thread and graphics thread. he can talk about it there. This is pure bait
...with bad IQ.
The only bad iq here is yours if you do not understand why dlss/CA etc are good techniques for grounding the image.

Clearly lenses defect/limitation is a good technique. Plus not talking only about CA but blurriness too.

I like it. i feel it grounds it. What more can I say?
I like old vintage digital photography too.
But good DLSS (quality setting is my go to) is good enough to disable CA sometimes. Sure, the image is a bit soft with DLSS but that's the point. It removes shimmering, subpixel crawling and all that stuff.
DLSS is the first upscaler which FINALLY made the games look like ground truth picture quality. So I absolutely don't understand all the people who see it as blurry mess... outside of dlss1. That was so blurry it turned your game into a painting lol

Of all the slops this is one that makes it click and justify $4000+ for a gaming machine? Nah, I'm not buying into that.

These are some very good shots.
2 observations:
  1. We need more people who can take good screenshots in this thread. rofif rofif 's shots stand out (despite being inferior console shots) because he is trying to show something in particular. It's why Gonzito Gonzito 's looks better than the rest as well. They have a "subject" in their shots. The rest just seem like "let me take a screengrab while I'm playing the game and show how beautiful it is". Take random stills in real life and even though they look great while experiencing it, the picture out of context doesn't actually convey much to a 3rd person.
  2. In general, the wow moments that you are looking for requires art direction that goes beyond technological achievements. I don't know to what extent this game has it. AC Unity had those moments frequently as the art direction was generally spectacular. Haven't seen that in an AC game since.

thank you. I have ton more but it's ps5 pro shots so probably not for this thread after all :)

I remember rofif rofif passionately arguing about why mid gen refresh consoles were bad.
Nothing changed. I love my pro but I suppose base ps5 could've been squeezed more.
All in all - I am doing well enough that I can buy a new console no sweat every 3-4 years. whatever.....
Especially since I am not big into pc upgrading recently. I only got 5700x3d last month to replace 3700x. Yeah that's a new cpu but it's nothing to write home about nowadays
