EDIT: Good fucking lord, Sessler.

WOW.

looks like the party has move to this thread aha.

I'll say it again, the sheer dismissive outlook and "holier-than-thou" attitude a lot of the enthusiast press, and hell, even game devs have towards the people keeping them in work is getting past the point of ridiculous.

Yes, like all media we have crazies that will shit on everything you do, but when you fuck up like Adam did in this case, COME CLEAN and admit it, then apologise.

This is GAF that is calling you out on your BS, not a bunch of foul mouthed teenagers on XBL.

Can anyone find out what Sessler was alluding to regarding making him leave the industry and do more of it?

I feel like we almost had something good going there.

It was regarding Sony having journos going to an event to review the Ps4, instead of sending them free units, i think.

Jim Sterling mentioned it in his latest Jimquisition. Sony's going to hold a controlled review event next week for the PS4 and they're inviting journalists. Afterwards those journalists will be given a PS4 to take back with them. That's it.

#BoycottSessler and see how he does when his "livelihood" is threatened by the people who support him?
He's getting worse everyday.

Something like this is what I was talking about. Apparently, Adam Sessler is a seasoned veteran of 15 years in this crazy business that's forgotten more than I'll ever know. Given that vast experience, it's hard for me to fathom the thought process that would lead to thinking that posting this tweet was a good idea.
Because it gets to a point where all you want to do more than anything else is tell the people that are a constant headache in your life to just go fuck themselves. It's not about thought process, it's about being a human being and acting on emotion.

I posted this in the locked thread about his tweet and want to share it here as well:

He is certainly one for melodrama. Lately, he seems to be simultaneously over-reacting to next-gen things that are very slightly affecting industry insiders while also attempting to undermine and ridicule the overreactions of the consumer base to next-gen news. It's entirely absurd and he just looks ridiculous and entirely un-self aware.

In fairness, chemical weapons journalism is sure to be more consistent than that of video games.

When BadGuy1 from GreatFaceMelters.com said "the next gen of chemical weapons BETTER be on a buy one get one" he called them alllll out when they were only doing 3 for the price of 2.

I think I was just compared to Saddam Hussein.

Why is he embarrassed by consumer backlash? That's biting the hand that feeds him.

It's standard procedure in the videogame industry to openly blame and insult the customer.

Anyways, I still don't understand why you guys keep feeding clicks to these hype men.

Is he refering to private messages he's received maybe? It can't be just the general blowback he's gotten on NeoGAF, that would be a truly stupid comparison.

This is the same guy who had a meltdown over a PS4 event saying he had to leave the industry and had his wife tweeting for him.

Gotta love BadGuy1 ! He really kept it real !!!!

In this analogy, he's the UN not doing its fucking job.

Lmao.

It's not about the size or capabilities of the chemical weapon, it's about the contents.

He didn't get a free PS4.

I honestly think that's what he was talking about.

But if they were clearly inviting journalists why was he expecting an invite? Heh. It's nice to want things.

The funny thing is that the original story wasn't even that big of a thing. It was just gamers asking Sessler why he had made a U-turn on his previous comments about 1080p, and his justifications in regards to certain platforms. His argument isn't wrong; the games do matter, but this is purely a conversation about the technology and tool support. All people want is a fair analysis with not personal opinion injected into it and they're not getting that. If Sessler has changed his mind then that's fine, but he should understand the nature of a tech analysis, and should remove himself entirely from the debate.

The hostility, sarcasm and refusal to have an open debate about this is what is feeding the fire at the moment and the longer he takes jabs and attention seeks, the longer this will play out and burn his reputation. He would be best either totally ignoring the issue or just confronting it.

Haha wow, what a victim.

Did anyone post this yet? What's the general consensus on Kuchera?

His thoughts on the Sessler situation.

Followup thought.

This is just like Doritogate. When journalistic integrity is questioned, they go into herd mentality mode and try to downplay the issue. These guys all live in a bubble.

Some would think we are one and the same.

Because it's easier to dismiss that way rather than acknowledge, but Zablant has a point as do most of the mature comments on the vid, @ E3 1080p 60 FPS mattered but in just 5 short months were all being petty.

I also feel that if it were the other way round & MS had the 1080p machine a lot more would be made of this both in terms of marketing & video games press.

I'm pretty sure the Major would of had a 4 page bullet point article out by now as he did prior to PS3 outlining the strengths/weaknesses of said platforms.

No one is going to boycott Adam Sessler. People love controversy. Hell, I keep refreshing this page to check out new developments.

Heck. I'll Do It.
In fact, I haven't dialed up his Sessler Something err.. since he has made it a point minimize every single factual point in favor of Microsoft's perspective.

I really don't care what the "News Is"; I just want him and everyone else that tags their chest with the "Journalist" label to call it like it is.
Now:
If he want's to give his opinion, then, I'm ok with that. Just qualify it.

In a lot of way's the gaming industry is the least molested multiple billion dollar industry in existence. I'm not suggesting that anyone can slow the rate of growth towards poopycocks, however we can sure enough call a spade a freaken spade.
So, with this said, I will continue to reject any journalistic site or person that "values" and/or embrace the act misinformation through disingenuous absentmindedness.

The fuck? I'm usually a big fan of Sess but this is such a stupid statement and has taken him down several notches in my mind. I wish there was a better way to communicate with people like him that post things I disagree with than Youtube comments and Twitter. I feel like a more open forum with more intelligent discussion could help to prevent the antagonism between the press and the fanbase.

I used to like Sess, I was even willing to still watch his reviews and non-hardware stuff but he went too far with that tweet

that's just offensive in so many ways

edit: I was willing to keep watching other Rev 3 without him but looking at the conversation feed from that tweet is just sad, Tara Long says some pretty bad things as well

I was trying to find if it was ever confirmed what had Sessler so agitated 10 days ago, and came across this amazing piece of reporting.

Adam Sessler’s Freak Out is Indicative of a Rushed PS4 Launch

From an outsider perspective, what it seems is that video content is restricted heavily before the PS4's release, with the only way for major outlets to properly offer launch week coverage being through the attendance of an upcoming PS4 Review Event in New York—hosted by Sony, of course. At this November 11th event, a limited number of outlets will be able to not only play the PS4 and its games a few days early, but publish the world's first reviews of PS4 hardware and software. What's published during these days is critical to Sony's marketing success, so it isn't all that surprising that it's a controlled environment. In a nutshell, publishers will be able to decide what content is shown to consumers for the days leading up to launch.

To make matters worse, the use of an NDA means that those in attendance won't be able to just go home and post whatever they want. Its enforcement means everything you hear that week is unlikely to be genuine.

Additionally, Sony has been tight-lipped for a couple of months now, which is the polar opposite of its transparency earlier in the year. During this time span, the delay of Driveclub and Watch Dogs damaged the early line-up of the PS4. Even EA almost had to delay Battlefield 4, but thankfully is now on-schedule for a mid-November debut. That would have been disastrous.

The vibe within the industry is that Sony isn't ready from a software or hardware standpoint for the PS4 launch. The 300 megabyte day one patch that brings critical features to the console is reminiscent of Nintendo's rushed Wii U launch. So is its launch lineup bloated with multiplats and peppered with a lackluster first year of exclusives. Deja vu?

Sony has talked the talk, but will it be able to deliver? At launch, probably not. The hype surrounding the console makes it appear that it's a gift from the gaming gods with a "supercharged" GPU, a focus on gamers, and a price point that fits just about anyone's budget.

But honestly, everything points to it not having the polish it should. If Sony was really ready, it'd be showing it off to media—including Sessler— much earlier, and would display much more confidence. For now, it seems anything but. This begs the question: how will all this impact the sales of the console? We'll find out soon enough since the PS4 releases on November 15th.
