So, I finally decided to start watching after seeing very little of the show and hearing so much. I watched all of Season 1 over the last 3-4 days.
This show is pretty cool. I don't think I love it nearly as much as the people who told me about it but I can understand the connection. It isn't nearly as funny to me as I thought it would be. Then again, the show doesn't seem to be about jokes but about the adventure (go figure) and the crazy stuff that happens. There was only one moment in the season where I really laughed my ass off (the balloons fulfilling thier blood oath and being happy about finally dying lol) but the rest was entertaining even if I didn't bust out laughing. I do think John DiMaggio once again kills it.
What's the opinion on the quality of the show going forward? The later episodes in the season already seemed better/funnier so I'm sure Season 2 is better (I'll watch that this weekend maybe), but how about after that?

I think the first season is sort of hit-and-miss, but the groundwork is laid out very well. It's almost all golden from season 2 onwards, save for 'Crystals Have Power' (which is weird since the episode before it is totally fab).
The first season was okay, but yeah, the later seasons seem to be a lot better imo.

The Ice King episodes focus on something you already know. You are probably fascinated by the new and crazy awesome stuff they end up doing, people they meet, and places they go to.
Did you like the Wizard Battle? That involved Ice King but had a lot of the latter stuff I was talking about.

I just received issues 1-6 of the Adventure Time comic, and 1 and 2 of Marceline and the Scream Queens from http://www.boom-studios.com/. Now to get around to reading them.

Never happening.
Buy the DVD to ensure it gets future season releases and if you absolutely have to have it in HD, you can get it off iTunes or Amazon.

Everything about the DVD set is stellar. The production values of it are through the roof, from the case itself, the DVD art, even the insert with the chapters on it. The special features are also amazing. It's absolutely worth the money, (pretty sure it's cheaper if not on-par with S1 digital download), especially since buying it is the only way to ensure we'll continue to get season sets.

Didn't really like the Lemongrab episode myself. The faces don't really do it for me and outside of the Pups there wasn't really that much greatness.

But I always did wonder what was up with that last line he uttered and how serious she was about it. I wrote it off as standard teenage rebellion.
only when things don't go the way his mind expects things to go, he just breaks down. especially when you compare how he was when the Pups arrived and when Other Lemongrab arrived.
Went back and looked through the casting for this show. I had no idea so many amazing comedians were part of this show. Bobcatt Golthwait, Ronald Lynch, Maria Bramford...no wonder I like this show so much.

I kind of like the episodes where Finn and Jake are just having an adventure in the background. I think those are funny. Like in Thank You, when they're battling the Ice King as the Snow Man and Fire Wolf go by.

Yeah, but Thank You is specifically about being a lower decks kind of episode where it focuses on, like, a random goon... great episode though.
I might start trying to slip an algebraeic or mathematical into conversation with other like-minded individuals, I guess

I too say Totes, but I've been saying that long before I ever saw this show. AT does a great job mixing existing and fake slang together.
