Whoa...

Also JOHN KATZ! I haven't seen that guy do anything since...well, Dr. Katz! Man, with all the comedians who come through and do voice work, I'm just waiting for a comedy central late night reunion. John Benjamin is overdue to be on this show.

John Katz was amazing in Home Movies, and then he had a small part in an ep of Squidbillies as TheRapist.

Came to post something to the effect of, "Holy shit, Dr. Katz?!"... wasn't sure how many people would recognize that, considering the target audience for the show.

Did anyone buy the new DVD set? It's only $20 and it comes with a Finn hat that normally runs for $20-30 on its own... I ask because I'm wondering if the Finn hat is normal size or like little baby bullshit DVD pack-in size.

I've always wanted a Finn hat but $30 at Hot Topic is insane, I can't bring myself to ask my CN friends to buy me one for $10 at the studio, and I don't know how well making my own would go. So, I mean, DVD + hat could work if it's big enough to fit on my head.

By new DVD set I assume this is one of those random collected episodes deal?

Any word on season 2? Enjoyed rewatching season 1 on DVD (but would have enjoyed Bluray more!).

Frederator posted recently saying they will continue to do both, with these fun-packs for kids and the full season sets for adults and more serious collectors. Season 2 is apparently in development, but there's at least on more random DVD set coming first.

But what if we want a season set AND a hat? :(

So... Gunther army.

I keep forgetting that Gunther is a girl. And she has a cat daughter.

Also: The commentary on "The Game" was hilarious. I've had that exact same conversation with people before.

The recent Regular Show (where they brought back all the past characters) made me think it would be cool if Adventure Time did something similar. Maybe a "world war" of some sort. I can never have enough Susan Strong.

I loved the Army of Gunthers episode. LOVED it.

Not all Gunthers are. In the episode Princess Monster Wife all their names are some variant of Gunther.

Cartoon Network Announces 'Adventure Time' Fifth Season, Return of Neil Patrick Harris

The fan-favorite gender-flipping episode "Adventure Time With Fionna and Cake" has a sequel inbound this season with the 2013 episode "Bad Little Boy" while Adventure Time returns to Cartoon Network in November. After the jump, find out what other character is getting the gender switch along with some of the other guest stars appearing over the next season.

Joining Harris' returning Prince Gumball will be Community star Donald Glover as Marshall Lee, the male counterpart to Marceline, the Vampire Queen. Glover and Harris aren't the only guest stars this season: actor and comedian Donald Faison, CHiPs star Erik Estrada, Andy Milonakis, comedian Emo Phillips, actor/filmmaker Bobcat Goldthwait, and Curb Your Enthusiasm actress and comedian Susie Essman will also be lending their voices to the show.

Among some of the plots playing out this year: the possible redemption of Finn's crush Flame Princess and the birth of Jake and Ranicorn’s pups. Plus, Irish filmmaker David O'Reilly will be directing an episode--O'Reilly has directed videos for U2 and the Venetian Snares while providing animated sequences and props for films like Son of Rambow and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

The two-part Adventure Time series premiere is Monday, November 12 at 7:30 on Cartoon Network.

Even though there are some great, great television programs on the air these days, Adventure Time remains my favorite among them. Keeps getting better, and I'm glad we get tiny eleven minute slices of it to enjoy most weeks.

Today was the first time I enountered this show. And I loved it. I'd say it surpasses even Spongebob's first seasons. I watched the episode with the Old Tart Toter, that final speech just touched my soul or something haha, so surreal.

But anyway, I love the artstyle and the absurd expressions, the GREAT voice acting and the tons of [pop] culture references like fist bumps and expressions like "peace out". I'm definately going to try and hunt down a dvd collection of sorts, even though this series is completely unknown around here.

Welcome to the fold brother. Ya the toters monologue is epic, "this cosmic dance, bursting decadence and withheld permissions twists all our arms collectively but, if sweetness can win, and it can Ill still be here tomorrow to highfive you yesterday my friend, peace"

I just ordered it so I'll report back in later this week. I bought the stand alone Finn hat but it's got a pretty big Adventure Time logo on it that I really don't like.

I wonder if this is the first time a cartoon has shown kids out of wedlock

SSHHHHHHH.

Somewhere out there you have awakened Jack Thompson from his lair. Even now he can smell "extramarital interracial childbirth" on the wind. The thousands of priests who decried Pokemon even now are stirring in the dens to which they were consigned after it became clear that nobody cared. PTAs that have hated Children's media since the birth of comic-books have felt a sudden cause to cry again.

All we can do now is huddle together and hope for the best.

I just watched The Hard Easy, what a crazy yet awesome episode.

So many funny moments like Jake making hand signals and the part where they tried to make the fire. Also the transformation scene was surreal even on Adventure Time standards. This season keeps on giving.

Guess they decided to go extra crazy for the 100th episode. Woobie Woo's entrance was so perfect.

Wasn't the transformation based on the transformation in Sailor Moon? Iirc, Natasha Allegri is a big fan of Sailor Moon. Heck, the dress Fiona wears to Prince Gumball's dance is based on a dress in Sailor Moon.

To me it seemed like a mix of Sailor Moon and Disney transformations (e.g. Beauty & the Beast) with some added AT craziness.

Natasha is HUGE into Sailor Moon. She's gonna help me write the anime episode of my web series since she's my go-to for anime knowledge.

The transformation sequence in The Hard Easy was totally an anime nod.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? You're gonna work with Natasha Allegri on something? That's crazy awesome. She's so cool

Yeah, she's really really nice. I've known her for about a year and a half now, I think? She's helped me put together a couple pitch ideas and we've been talking about working together on something since around March. It was going to be a pitch for Frederator's Cartoon Hangover but she's busy working on her Bee & PuppyCat short for them now, so I don't know if we'll get around to it. The idea I pitched to Frederator has kind of stalled out for some reason so she's been really supportive of me doing it on my own. I told her there was going to be an anime episode towards the end of the first season and she was very excited to help, heh.

Aww man, that's so awesome. I am jelly as a piece of toast right now. She seems like such a fun person.

Moving to Burbank was probably the best decision I've made in my life. Especially since I transferred with Trader Joe's, because seriously everyone in the industry shops there as it's right in the middle of all the studios. It's how I met Pen, who invited me to Drink & Draw where I met Natasha, which has led to me meeting all kinds of awesome people. I don't want to come off as a braggart or name drop, but seeing your avatar reminds me that Alex Hirsch is quite the karaoke singer. :3

:O You've met Pen AND Alex Hirsch? My jealousity has reached maximum levels, WordAssassin.

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
I remember Pen once said he doesn't want to focus on the past. I'm guessing he changed his mind because the episodes focusing on the past are really good. This one too, just... damn.

Someone noticed that Simon had the
Enchiridion
. Hmmmm.

Finale next week. Good thing it won't be a long wait for Season 5.
