Hmm, is this ok for a 4 year old? My daughter has been watching it at her grand parents and is becoming a HUGE fan always talking about it and wanting to watch it. I saw 1 clip that made me assume its no appropriate but I really haven't seen enough of it. She also likes and is allowed to watch shows like sponge bob, gumby and pee-wees playhouse. Any feedback is appreciated.

Shes always talking about some ice king...

I would say it's the same appropriateness as spongebob.

If you're fine with that for a 4 year old then I would think you'd find the same here.

Why not watch an episode or two either with or without her to see?

I'm about to order the Season 1 DVD but I'm trying to decide if I want the digital version in HD instead. It's a shame it's not on BluRay. The show looks amazing in HD.

We're pretty psychotically strict with what our kids are allowed to watch and both my kids (4 y/o boy and 9y/o girl) are allowed to watch it and love the show. Some of the monsters may be little scary, but otherwise I've never seen anything even remotely offensive about it.

Watch a few episodes and make a decision. I'd certainly vote for having kids watch something a little challenging than some of absolute feces produced for kids these days.

I've been buying the shows off of Zune. I didn't realize they offered HD too, but only through Xbox. I watch it on a PC (via windows media center). I think I'll be getting it via Amazon next season.

Any jokes you wouldn't like for her to get are bound to soar way over her head anyway. Ice King is voiced by the same man who does Spongebob, so that might be why she likes him so much.

As was said earlier, anything that isnt appropriate for her, she isnt gonna get anyways. Plus just think how awesome it'll be for her later in life when she re-watches and gets all the innuendo.

I mentioned it on the last page, but I got my little cousin (who's about 3-4) to watch AT and she loves it. It's definitely one of those shows you can watch with kids and get a lot of enjoyment out of it yourself.

a few days ago i realized the whole show's available on US iTunes and that i could download all the episodes from Italy.
I'll be poorer (and A LOT happier!) in just a few days.
i <3 Adventure Time, and i've just finished watching Season 1!!

Also, been going through the Season 1 DVD with my wife. Highly recommended purchase, the commentary tracks are tops. For example, on the Ricardio episode, Pen mentioned
if anyone saw the skeleton in the hallway when PB emerged from the bookshelf hidden passageway. Everyone said no and why? Pen said something along the lines of, "Well those are just some of her seedier past-times, torturing people". Followed by everyone's great reaction.

Real good stuff.

I guess it's somewhat old news to most, but I had no idea there was an Adventure Time comic until I read through this thread!!
It looks like there's a trade paperback coming out in November (according to Amazon) so I'll definitely snap that right up. :)

On a semi-related note, wasn't the Collector's Edition of the upcoming Adventure Time DS/3DS game supposed to be Gamestop exclusive?
There are pre-orders up for both versions on Amazon.

Abraham Lincoln sacrificing his immortality and coming back with a gunshot was... damn near profound, really. I said wow.

Pretty good episode, but like most other episodes it makes me wish they lasted a full half-hour so they could expand on awesome scenes like that, give them more lasting impact or something.

Pretty great episode but, like many, I wished it was atleast double in length.

Though
Abe Lincoln, King of Mars
voice was really, really annoying. Wished they went for the same voice as used in the pilot.

Got the DVD finally. Video quality leaves a lot to be desired, but hey, season 1 dvd. Badass.

Tree Trunks / Pen's Mom commentary was great.

Seeing Adventure Time in dutch is terrible :(. But I saw they are airing Regular Show as well, gonna watch that see how that is in dutch ( if they air it in dutch ).

Seeing any cartoon dubbed in Dutch is terrible because the quality of Dutch voice acting/actors is terrible. And everything that isn't aired on Comedy Central (Futurama/South Park) is dubbed. Everything.

But even then the Adventure time dub is pretty good. If you want to hear a real horror show try to catch an episode of MLP.

Adventure Time in dutch isn't the worst. I hate turning on CN and seeing Dexter in Dutch. I mean wtf that shit wasn't dutch when I was a kid which helped me learn English as a child. Now they've got this retarded Dexter :(.

MLP is terrible regardless if it's dutch or english ;).

Commentary on Ricardio was a bit of a bummer, Takei clearly didn't give a shit. You can hear him stand up to leave the instant the credits start lol.

Edit: Menu is the first time I've heard the full credits song (it occurs to me that I could have just looked it up on YouTube at any point over the last few years lol). I like it about ten thousand times better having heard the full thing.

As for Dexter not being in dutch when you where a kid.... It was when I was just a wee lad but it depended on the time of day. In the morning it was in dutch, at night in english.

Cute episode. Spoiler for those who haven't seen it
finally good to see Finn getting the girl without it blowing up in his face, (well, not too much). Jake and Finn going off on Bubblegum over miscommunication, and her comment to Jake at the end of the episode were priceless.

Can't wait for next week's noir episode... Mystery Time :-o

Burning Low was horrible. So bad. I expected as much as I have always hated the episodes where they used romance as a plot point. They give Finn the dumbest faces in these episodes and they always lack funny moments. It's like they replace the humor with cute moments. It's a total letdown after last week's classic. AT is at its best when it's just fucking weird.

Eh, this seemed really predictable. From the previews it was obvious that PB didn't care about the relationship so much as FP being dangerous in some aspect. Jake was the best part of the episode when he was thinking about random shit not related to the story.

That and Sons of Mars seemed like it really badly squandered the return of Magic Man, Death, Abe Lincoln, and the reveal of Glob. I couldn't tell if they were being serious or self-parodying with Magic Man's ten seconds of retread-of-Ice-King-backstory.

I really liked the episodie. I think they handle drama pretty good, by this point in the show it's not just laughs, I actually care about the characters...

i just don't like how they handled flame princess. having finn move on from the "designated" love interest (peebles) because it clearly wouldn't work was a brilliant idea, but ever since then... eh.

Finn gets a crush on FP because she breaks into his house and screams at him and runs away.
Then FP realizes why Finn puts out her flames and says they can't be together.
Then they're suddenly together, and she doesn't really do anything on her own for the entire episode except for hugs and smooches for her boyfriend.

she feels like less of a character and more of "finn's angry lady friend with a neat visual design"

Yeah I'll admit that bugged me too at first. I kind of just accepted it though and ended up enjoying the episode.
