this is based on AMD internal testing in ideal lab conditions. Not true if its the same for true real world examples.

they used the Division 2 @ 25x14 Ultra setting and even admit that performance may vary. Would take it with a huge grain of salt.

Why salt, its still 50 % perf / watt improvement for division 2 @ 25x14 ultra over RDNA1, so there is a good imporvement here.

crysis 4 ps5 exclusive confirmed.

is he saying that 12tf of power in sex is some peak optimal astral conjuction with planet's alignment type of scenario? sound kinda bullshittery...
It's bullshit by default, because TFlops is by definition theoretical power, so if the clocks are fixed, TFlops still stays the same.

As a side note, it's weird to see some posters think that Sony is doing all this custom engineering, while Microsoft is just sitting back and shipping a PC Tower full of parts they have laying around.

Both companies have put many millions of dollars of research into getting the most out of their hardware with all kinds of hardware customizations and software solutions, and a simple look into the Series X details makes that blatantly obvious.
I totally agree with you, but looks like devs are more fascinated with and willingly talking about the custom work Sony did on PS5 than what MS did on SX.

Someone needs to inform nvidia. They don't need to produce larger gpus, just up the clocks.
Same with poor old Microsoft, man, they have really fucked up. Less equals more apparently.
Last thing, I interpreted this as him saying that the ps5 was easier to work with, not the most powerful
But nVidia shifted to higher clocks less SPs for efficiency years ago.

Rt cores probably run at a diffrent clock speed compared to the typical shader units. But I think the problem with rt is bandwith? Without knowing the in and outs of the architecture its useless to try to understand it.

PS5 and xsx will perform similar in gaming szenarios is my guess. And cost the same. Extra chips are Not for free either.

- All this article tries to say that instead of brute forcing Sony has striven to find ways to go around the bottlenecks
If you read the article more carefully (which admittedly is not ideally translated) he mentions that achieving 12 Tflops is not always possible unless under the the ideal circumstances that almost never occur
- He says that achieving 10.28 Tflops in PS5 is practically more doable.

He makes some fare points however its riddled with shit.

It's not even funny.

He tries to bend reality to put PS5 in a good light then starts to downtalk the same reality when xbox is involved. Half the shit he says makes no sense.

Like a simple example, throttling is great and extra work when it involves PS5, but when split pool memory comes up which "requires more work in his eyes" its bad. Yet he wants more bandwidth which is the exact reason they did it and the v-ram is more % wise then the PS4 v-ram allocation in games yet its still not enough? but 16gb on the PS5 is? oke dude.

Look i can deal with some illogical statements in a interview, but this brought it to a new level.

Either the interviewer translation is full of shit, and the dev said something completely different at times or the guy seriously should stop giving interviews.

It's kind of like pouring holy water on a vampire, as I'm leaning towards Series X, but I do agree that Sony's custom work seems to go further, and is more fascinating.

At least that's the impression I get.

Sony has gone with a tactic of - at least according to Cerny- creating a system where any envisionable bottleneck is removed. A chunk of investment in that design

MS has gone with a beast but can it fully flex that muscle? I think MS is being underestimated in the thought they've put into that

I think no One Say ps5 Is not an Amazing console..but outside Phil Spencer can you find someone that Say that with series X with 12tf can do amazing games? Or the hardware Is not enough to bring Amazing games more then this gen?
Yes. That is what you more find here in GAF.

Microsoft also talked about removing bottlenecks when Projecct Scarlet was announced and even during Xbox One X release. XSX is not some poorly assembled PC. Contrary to what people in this site think its as custom made as PS5.

Man . Every time i see a thread about ps5 i regret clicking on it.
Xbox fans are cancer. They have to destroy everything.
All the time.
Will this be the tone for the next 7 years?
News flash. Its all about the games. And xbox didnt have games for almost a decade now.
Sony brings games.
Nintendo brings games.
Xbox gets you teraflops.

You can buy a ferrari or 10. What good is it to you when you can only drive it 3 months a year in the city or 120km on the highway?
Power means shit without content.
Netflix means shit with korean drama content.

What i can tell with confidence, If the ps5 is soo easy to develop for you be assured to have the most games and the most diversity that will bring us back to psone and ps2 times.
No more waiting 6 years for sequels.
It started when MS was humiliated by Sony at E3 2013, after that it was 7 years of Xbox continually beaten by PS. They want revenge, it's not enough that SX has the power edge, PS5 must fail and hard.

Well I guess an ex-Guerilla Games dev has way more credibility than someone who joined Crytek on 2018.

Or ex-Valve/Space X/Ensemble

Anyone who takes this guy as credible is truly deluded. Anyone being honest with themselves can see this Crytec guy not only hasn't developed a game for either brand, but also is a rabid Sony fanboy.

This is rich coming from this so called "developer" of all people.

Next thing you know the likes of Dictator from DF will be saying people in the industry would never join fanboy discords because it would risk their jobs and cause people to question their integrity.

The dude basically fanboys Sony all over his twitter

Thank you for sharing your research in cases like this. Hopefully when we get some real developers commenting on the new hardware the same level of background screening can apply.

Well in all fairness, we've seen 12tf, we've never seen 5.5gig ssd. Only one offers something genuinely left field. How it all plays out will be very interesting indeed.

The software does underpin a lot of what he's saying but this is ridiculous.

The lag that we see on the front end of the OS is not indicative of anything because the OS runs from a separate partition to the one which games run from.

And it's slowing everything including games, even on my X, just like Windows 8 before sp2 did.

Some developers can simply be fanboyish or push forth what they like best. Remember Factor 5? those guys hated MS and made it sound like gamecube was more powerful than the original Xbox. I once worked with a developer in charge of a small indie studio that refused to support anything made by MS. He would develop for any platform but Xbox, and it ended up leading to the downfall of the studio as they couldn't survive on PSP and Nintendo DS work alone.

He makes some pretty blatant assumptions, that aren't correct. I gather he isn't a multiplatform developer based on how he is talking.

What's the point of this comment? Isn't it confirming that Ali Salehi and Crytek do have access to the hardware because he's under NDA?
Did you even read what he said ? If this dude is talking about PS5 hardware it means he has never seen one.

That second tweet made me laugh.
"People are forgetting about this feature the Xbox will have!! Although we don't really know anything about it....but it will be amazing."
Just lol.

Did I read what Ali said in the interview? Of course I did, I did the original translation.

And he clearly states that he cannot speak of his own work, but only on public statements of others. If his speech is restricted, he's NDA'd.

How have you experienced working with both consoles and how do you evaluate them?

I can't say anything right now about my own work, but I'm quoting others who have made a public statement. Developers say that the PlayStation 5 is the easiest console they've ever coded for. so they can reach the console's peak performance. In terms of software, coding on the PlayStation 5 is extremely simple and has many features which leave a lot of options for developers. All in all, the PlayStation 5 is a better console.

The second guy literally worked for Microsoft....Does that not count as some kind of bias here?
Or are only Xbox fans/developers credible to you?
I decade old job does not count as bias. Thats like saying Bungie has a Microsoft bias. And Ensemble was not even associated with Xbox and Microsoft literally closed that studio and fired everyone.

Dude is about to get fired, everything he's said is getting pulled down. Crytek doesn't seem very happy or they've been hit with a cease and desist...

Sounds like what Sony boosters have been doing since they lost the power battle.

It's confirming that he doesn't know shit and is not under NDA.

Feel free to interpret it any way you'd like. Doesn't make you right.

Fact is, should Crytek have a devkit and he is working on it now, I don't see anything in the interview that necessarily violates it. It's on the edge for sure, but then they might actually have an arrangement with Sony going into next gen. So I wouldn't assume right away he just knows nothing.
