Am I the only one excited that Fallout 4's graphics are modest?

You aren't getting 60fps on consoles. Buy a PC if it's that important to you.

I will if it doesn't do it... I mean, my i5 Surface Pro does Fallout NV 60fps (1366 768). The trailer didn't look that much better than Fallout NV so at the very least, I hope for 60fps.

dat modesty

You're crazy.

I was looking forward to this reveal not because I'm interested the Fallout series - but because it was potentially a multiplatform, current gen exclusive that could showcase what kind of ambitions these frail consoles could accommodate.

After seeing the trailer, let's just say that E3 is the last chance I'll give these consoles before I potentially go PC.

Ever heard about a little game called Metal Gear Solid V? open world cross-gen game running at 60fps.
i havent even seen MGSV.. are there tens of thousands of objects throughout the world that you can pick up, manipulate, and drop wherever you want in the world with the game remembering where they were last?

60 fps is out of the question. It is not just the graphics quality that is disappointing to me but also the art style which looks terrible. There can be beauty of a different kind in an apocalypse but the art style shown in the trailer is so mediocre and feels lazily designed. I will be surprised if we do not get the same stilted janky animation and mediocre shooting mechanics that destroyed the likes of fallout 3 and New Vegas.

I will not mind the poor graphics and art style if the mechanics are at least competent but I have my doubts about a Bethesda game or generally any WRPG these days to be really solid mechanically.

Is it going to run without microstutter the entire fucking time?

It has the graphics fit for a working man.

No I'm not excited that the graphics are "modest" but I don't mind it either.

I'm more upset about the animations still being super awkward.

I know it was just a trailer, and not exactly a great representation of what the final game will be like, but it looked like typical Bethesda.

The whole time, I was thinking how happy I was that they didn't go through the route of pushing the graphics because this means a few things:

- We are likely to get 60fps
- The draw distance and instance size is going to be large, could even have none
- Means that they spent a lot more dev time on unique content

We don't know if it means those things, you're just hopeful it does in your internal trade-off analysis - an educated guess. You could get one but not two on that list etc.....

You're not crazy - not that I personally agree with your opinion.

There is almost 0 chance this is going to be 60 fps on consoles. Everyone except for First Person Shooters has given up on 60 FPS on Consoles. It's one of the reasons I'm so turned off about current-gen consoles at the moment.

60fps is not a certainty

You're forgetting that this is Bethesda. It'll be lucky to get 30 on consoles

It was quite obviously developed with last-gen consoles in mind too

I couldn't give less of a shit about graphics for the Fallout, well, actually Bethesda RPGs, because I know it's going to absolutely consume me for hundreds of hours. That's what I expect from these games now. I know it's not going to look like the Witcher 3, but I will play it a lot more than Witcher 3. People complaining about graphical fidelity now is like being upset the new Dodge Caravan can't out handle a Porsche. I mean, you know what you're getting into, why is this really an issue. Look elsewhere if you're not happy. I know, graphics are supposed to increase in quality as the generations move on, but from what I've seen so far, they have. There isn't a huge jump, no, but it still looks obviously better, just from that 3 minute video. Now imagine it maxed on PC. This is just the way Bethesda does things.

IMO.

The infatuation with 1080p/60fps needs to die in a fire yes but im neither excited or miffed about how the game looks. It looks good enough and as long as its not an Advent Rising type slide show it should be fine but itll be taken THRU the wood shed regardless.

the game was probably cross-gen at some point before they saw how popular the next gen consoles were

no doubt development started in 2009 before ps4 and xbone and whatnot
