this ad is amazing

Hey, if you've got a star player with a superhero nickname it'd be a crime not to use it in an ad.

I wonder what ticket sales are like for Sunday. I'm assuming it's not sold out because they'd make some sort of press announcement about it.

- dailyherald: With 1-0 loss, Chicago Fire setting new lows

Rolfe is one of the few remaining active players in MLS to have won a playoff game in a Fire uniform. His return was a stark reminder that the good old days ended with the 2009 Eastern Conference championship match.

The Losing Era in Chicago Fire history began in 2010, and it has included just one playoff game, a dreary 2012 defeat to Houston. The current team is 4-9-2 after Wednesday's 1-0 loss to Rolfe's D.C. United squad at Toyota Park. The Fire is the worst club in MLS this season, rapidly falling out of any reasonable hope for a playoff return. It has lost its last four MLS games.

So why can't this club succeed anymore?

"I don't know. We're putting all of our efforts into it," said Fire coach and director of soccer Frank Yallop

...Something, something.... Next year....

...Stanley Cup tho...

- ASN: MLS Needs to Stop Playing Silly Midseason Friendlies
Major League Soccer's longstanding practice of interrupting its regular season to play against barnstorming teams from Europe makes the league look silly, and contributes to MLS' perception problems.
- MLS Analyst: On the radar for Week 17 of the 2015 MLS season

Heh. Harden has been solid for the Quakes, but this is two backups being swapped. The Quakes need help at striker since Wondo's missing time and Innocent is out for the season.

Yeah, I am just jaded as fuck.

And that ASN article is spot on. It amounts to the best players in our league combined losing to a team that finished 17th out of 20 in the EPL, and at best means that a collection of our best players beat a 17th place team.

Vancouver just keeps on winning and yet you barely hear anything about them or how they may be legit contenders for the shield this year.

They have some really great players. A lot of which are not going to make the all stars. Watson had been a rock solid defender all season long. Porales is a dangerous midfielder and one of the best this season only topped by Benny, who is barely making third place in total votes for midfielders. Octavio is a fantastic striker and has been one of the most consistent goal scorers so far.
