I've read a lot of stupid shit on this site, but this takes a the cake. This is something that'd be more at home at 4chan.
 
Honestly, I feel this in my own actions/desires a lot too.

A lot of times after a long day of work/gym/martial arts class/etc, I'd rather come home and sit down with some Overwatch or Zelda or something than have sex. Typically when I get into bed I want to actually go to sleep, too.
 
Stress and other anxieties probably have a huge effect.

Despite the findings, working longer hours/a longer commute seems to have an obvious effect on energy levels for my so, maybe magnified by whatever effects normal hormonal changes and birth control can have on fatigue.
 
I think it's work and stress. Lots of time you just want to sit at home and do nothing. Or you don't have time.

It's counter intuitive, but it happens.

Age plays a part. I'm 43 and at about the stated average. 20 years ago I wanted it 3 times a day. But, after working long hours, raising a child, paying bills and a mortgage for years, life has worn down my stamina. I've actually had conversions with my other half in which we said sex or afternoon nap. We both chose nap.

Walk me through a day in your world because I'm having trouble seeing how people actually have time for more than once a week. I wish I had free time like that.

We generally have sex every other day. Sometimes it's a couple days in a row, sometimes it's 3 or 4 days without.

We make time for it at night mostly. Kids are in bed at 8, and then we've got 2 hours to ourselves. Usually that means either us watching some TV, or having sex and then watching some TV.

But we make a point of never deprioritizing sex. If you can't find time for it, you're not making it priority.

edit: additional worthwhile info - we're in our mid-30s, married almost 14 years, and our kids are 10 and 12.
 
Sex just isn't as appealing as it used to be. Its harder, riskier, and generally more intensive to retain than many other pleasures. I don't blame folks. I'd rather watch House of Cards than have sex.
 
yeah if you ever find yourself valuing virginity please take a moment and remind yourself that nobody cares and that it only serves to make things harder for you

sex is an average bodily function granted to us intrinsically, i think society has a lot of problems borne out of making it out to be something it isn't. plenty of bad sex out there, cant get hung up on it, shouldnt expect miracles out of it

Wake up. Is it late enough you need to start getting ready within the next 15 minutes? No? Is it that time of the month? No? Take off any clothing, cuddle, give some back rubbing, morning sex.

I come home from work for lunch. Is wife there? Yes? Is lunch taking me longer to make than normal? No? Is she in the mood? Yes? Lunch quickie.

Evening. Are we done working and working out? Are we both in the mood? Take a shower and bang.

Both have full time jobs and no kids, just have to walk the dog twice a day. I'd say we average 4-5 times a week, mostly in the morning because it's most convenient. If we have a dedicated "sex night" about every month it can be a few hours of banging.

If I go three or more days without I get moody as fuck and really have to try not to be testosterone fueled asshole.

See, that's crazy to me. On a weekday? I barely have the energy to make a bowl of cereal in the morning, nevermind have sex.

Like even when I was dating in college, on a weeknight we'd never be up for more than heavy petting before sleep. And half the time we'd rather just watch an episode of 30 Rock or something.

Hmm yeah it seems like everyone has free time that I just don't. We get up at separate times and don't see each other in the morning, meeting for lunch isn't practical/possible, and evenings are basically just a rush to eat and get done whatever needs to get done around the house. Might get one show in after dinner. That's the extent of the free time.
