Amiibo (Nintendo Figurines) - Wallets be Damned, Buying Them All!

Probably gonna buy this, hope that it scans from the bottom, and never ever open it in hopes of this being valuable in the future.

Any chance that Disney Infinity for WiiU supports Amiibo? There are some Gamecube games by EA with Nintendo characters.

I believe at E3 it was said that the Wii U versions of Disney Infinity and Skylanders will have NFC/amiibo compatibility but there weren't any details beyond that.

Pretty sure they confirmed EVERY Smash Bros Wii U/3DS character is getting one. Which is why I can't wait to get Sonic, Mega Man, & Pac-Man.

Anyone got a source? I thought everyone was just assuming that.

And I still want to know what these are going to do in Mario Kart/Captain Toad before I get too excited.

So these figures, you don't actually get to play as them leveled up? So basically like pokemon then which you lvl up and train only?

Damn I wanted the Pikachu one but it just looks cheap compared to the rest :( He could have at least had a cool pose or something.

How profitable is this going to be for Nintendo? Realistically?

Anybody has an idea?

What's $170 between friends? How many monsters has Nintendo created...

oh good

so the Ness figure will come eventually. only amiibo i will ever buy, and I doubt I'll play Smash Bros. much except to look at the new Mother stages and listen to the Earthbound remixes, but I'll support that amiibo

all Mother merchandise for me :D

Ness can't be all by itself, gotta get dat Lucas Amiibo figurine if ever he is confirmed ;)

I just preordered Link/Samus/Fox for some reason. The Smash Bros functionality doesn't even interest me really, so something is wrong with me.

You know you've always wanted these since smash 64

There is nothing wrong with you, this is normal.

Damn it, I'm getting all of them. My OCD side won't allow me to only have a couple.

Hopefully they released the waves slowly so my wallet has time to recover between intervals.

Realistically, 40% of the retail price would go towards manufacturing, shipping + storage costs and retailer cut.

In essence, if Nintendo ships over 10 million Amiibo figurines by Q3, which is my target, they could generate over 130 million $ in retail sales, 78 million $ net for Nintendo.

Huge potential for Nintendo's bottom line.

These do look amazing, and I think $12.99 is a sweet spot for both Nintendo and the consumer. Going for Samus, Link and Kirby to start out.

But I cannot wait for R.O.B. =D

Wow at the price tag on these things, you can get all the MK8 DLC for a dollar less than a single Amiibo. D: Probably going to limit myself to only a few because of that.

As a collector, I can't help myself, I'll buy all of them. Looking forward to never having money again if they keep releasing them steadily.

When Nintendo announced this, I thought "Wow, Nintendo is so out of touch - what a waste of money". Now it looks like Nintendo really knows what it's doing, based on all the folks here...

I remember having a talk with JC Rodrigo from Nintendo at SDCC (You can see us during the interlude on youtube lol) about the possibility of ordering a custom (Smash edition or not) made Mii amiibo for a couple dollars more and he said something to the effect of "I wouldn't say no to it personally. You might be onto something."

So... who's down for a custom mii amiibo if it happens?

moving forward with amiibo was a seriously smart move by the dudes and dudettes in Kyoto. If it catches on it'll be cash-city. and we'll be guaranteed another few rounds of first party content.

Mega Man I'm a bit concerned about, but he's been licensed for a bunch of merchandising in the past so not too concerned. I imagine Capcom have already given their a-okay if Nintendo said of all fighters.

SEGA is pretty okay with Sonic merchandising as they've shown, Namco is partially developing the game for Pacman, and Shulk is pretty certain being not really fully third party.
Nintendo owns monolith soft.
