Amiibo (Nintendo Figurines) - Wallets be Damned, Buying Them All!

So ... $160 for just round 1? I guess at the most, I'd just get one or two of these. Peach and Link look pretty awesome. Like Samus as well.

Why is Assault Fox in there

Because Sakurai said so.

*Does the math*

$13 each times 38 characters confirmed so far. It's 6% sales tax in MI, so at the moment, it'll cost $523.64. & it'll continue to cost more as more characters are confirmed, probably being around $600 total.

.............AND YET THE COLLECTOR IN ME STILL WANTS THEM ALL.

confirmed so far counting the leaks or just the ones in the site ?

Samus looks really good even though I don't even play as her in Smash. Soooo... whatever, I'm going to buy her Amiibo at launch, and Marth (my main chracter) too.

Officially confirmed. Basically, everyone that's on the SSB site.

Tax will differ on state, but yeah, it'll cost around that much. Michigan is 6% sales tax, so it'd total $165.36 MSRP.

A true collector does not collect at RRP. They find special offers, or buy bulk lots of poorer condition used ones. They also take decades to finish their collections :(
Yeah, I'll wait for price drops/sales on ones I don't want as much. I wanna wait for the 3rd party trio to get figures, then maybe some of my favorite characters & upcoming newcomers (Cap. Falcon, Shulk, Little Mac, Ike, etc.).

& now that I think about it, imagine if they did more rare/expensive ones based on some of the alt. costumes....also I wonder if this hints at who'll be starter characters in the game.

Will wait for retail models. the final build won't be this high quality.

with that said I only want Fox/Link/Kirby.

my trinity of characters.

That would be so bad if people pre-order and receive something different; a lower quality figurine would still constitute false advertising in my book.

it happens more than you think. this all depends entirely on where nintendo gets it's products produced.

I want them... I don't see them adding $160 of "functionality" to Smash... but perhaps they'll add $160 of happiness to my heart....

I'm so tempted, and feel like I'm going to regret this... but I'm going to pass for now.

I just pre-ordered all of them. With tax and free 5 day shipping, it came out to $169.68...

Which do you guys think will be rare or hard to find? I'm thinking of getting some doubles just in case.

Megaman, Pikachu and Ness are most likely the one's to become rare or valuable over the years.

$12.99 is the same price as Disney Infinity characters. Skylanders still win with their $9.99 figures although it could be argued their "main" characters that you'll need are $15.99.

I was dreading it being more and praying it'd be less, but I'm ok with that price point, especially if they keep up the detail on the figures we saw before.

Likely, stores will be doing deals on them anyways (or at least, hopefully they will) so it could be significantly less if you plan on purchasing many of these things.

On one hand, I feel $12.99 is pricey for a little plastic figure, despite its possible utility.

On the other hand, I already preordered Mario, Link & Samus from Amazon, with long-term plans to eventually own them all. So what do I know?

I'm going to end up buying all the smash ones, for sure. Depending on what the others look like and for what games, I might end up buying all of them period. I fucking love collectables, and the fact that they provide in game benefits is just the icing.

It's going to be in my best interest to get some sort of unit to display these, I think. Even the packaging is good. It's going to be hard not to open them.

This is the first I'm hearing about this program and I tried finding information on their website about joining. I can't find any pricing or specific details on their FAQ page.

If you were lucky to get it on sale it was $60. Now I believe its $120 for the 2 years and you have to sign up in-store.

Well they do look pretty cool. Though not sure I will be getting any. I really dont quite understand how they work in game yet, and the whole NFC thing still seems more like a gimmick from what I have read. Im guessing they dont really do anything that couldnt have been done without the figurines?

I may get Link...or Fox....or Yoshi at some point.

Might want to cut off that phone number from the pic. But nice, you'll be all Amiibo juice'd up!

Edit: removed pic quote

You know most of these will end up being rare and sold at higher price. I can already picture the figure collectors buying them in mass quantities

I want Ness, Game & Watch, Captain Falcon and Shulk so badly.

Just limiting myself to those eventual 4 for now is difficult.

That is absurd, for commiting to a single store for 2 years at that price :\

I probably would've jumped on the $60 but yeah, $120 is too much of a commitment.

Thanks for the info though, appreciated.

Yeah $120 is too high. $60 was great though. It payed off in no time, especially with those collector editions!

Out of the ones they have announced, Kirby, Samus, &/or the Villager figurines are the ones that have grabbed my attention. I want the Mega Man, Little Mac, & Rosalina Amiibo toys, once they become available in the near future.
