It wasn't even freakin' limited to 1 per customer?

Yeah, no, it's gonna be hard enough to deal with Wave 4, I sure ain't gonna bother with Mario version 2: repaint edition.
 
For once, I actually got a good preorder in. Nice to have that Gold Mario, might cancel my Mario Party bundle now.

No, 2 per order but people made multiple orders. I can understand wanting more than 1 but getting more than 2 is just terrible.

It was limited to 2 but it seems you were able to put in multiple orders. Which explains why that person on eBay is selling 8.

I get that they're supposed to post about it but it was sold out by the time they posted it, just like MM3D LE and the MM XL. And all the tweets with meta knight and D3...it just seems so out of line.

Actually, that tweet was posted the very minute it went up on Walmart.com. I can only assume that Walmart & Nintendo coordinated those two events.

I cannot argue against that.
I bought it with the intent of giving my extra to someone in a state without a Walmart like California.

But yeah, it wasn't limit to 2 per account which is why scalpers were able to get more than 2.

I don't know how they've done preordering for Amiibos... but for instance the 20th Anniversay PS4... anyone who placed multiple orders had everything cancelled.. so hopefully this is the same.

Yeah, I know where those are, but they are pretty far from me still. And I have 2 Targets, a Best Buy and a TRU, all minutes away from me, so its just not worth it to go to one of those Walmarts.

Sorry, my nephew is only 10 so can't go to stores or even preorder on a computer by himself so easily. So if there's an amiibo we both want, I order 2.

I agree with you there, I would cancel any accounts that had more than 1 order same address because seriously you don't need more than 2.

I know for a fact that isn't true. I have a friend who got through for two and received both. (I got my one which still sits in my closet unopened)

then he used different addresses, because there's an entire thread on the subject about who got their stuff cancelled and who didn;t.
 
Wow...the preorders seriously weren't limited at all? I didn't even try for more than 1...first, because I'm not an a-hole and second because it never even crossed my mind that they wouldn't be limited. Stupid walmart. I hope they cancel any preorder for more than 1 so more people get a chance at it at MSRP.

Edit - Oh it was limited to 2? I guess that is reasonable. Now I wish I had ordered 2 to give a deal to a GAFfer in need

There is a couple, but not much. Also only 3000 of the 4500 stores are getting units. There is a high chance some states are not getting stock.
In terms of stores, Walmart is definitely the least out of all store exclusives except maybe Toys R Us.

You Dont need more than 1. "Ordering for others" is bullshit to people that are trying to order for themselves. If you are truly just doing it to help another person then order one and give that one to them.

I missed out and am pissed but I have no problem with people ordering 2. It is better that someone on here that is willing to trade gets one rather than a scalper.

Nope. The guy had the same address. Pissed off a lot of people in the thread. He wasn't intentionally trying for more then one. Had multiple browsers. Thought only 1 went through, then got shipping notices for all three. Kept one, ebay'd one, then sold one to another gaffer.

That is my philosophy as well. Heck, I may even be nice enough to throw in free standard shipping. I just want to get it out of a scalper's hands.
Hoping it will be like Target and when the thing comes out you get another chance.

Nintendo panders to scalpers. This is no different than what they did during the NES era.
The main difference is that it is easier to do because internet.

I would not get too worked up about it. People are still trading Pits and Falcons.
 
This actually makes me mad if they sold out of stock and I have to break my back to get one in-store. It's probably not even worth the effort because some neckbeard scalper will waddle up to the amiibo section at opening and buy them all. Why does Nintendo have to make this so darn difficult? Do they not realize that they would sell more stock if they increased production and stopped the crappy retailer exclusive deals? Maybe I'm overreacting but this is extremely frustrating. I can't get a Ike, Sonic, Mega Man, Marth, and now this? Man...
 
2 to me should be the limit since some people like to order another for a friend or to help someone out.

But any more & you're just letting the scalpers take advantage of the situation.

Especially if people were allowed to place multiple orders of 2. Someone said that an Ebayer is selling 8. Crazy.

I am on here almost 24/7 and missed out while I was helping my brother carry furniture up the stairs. I got back and they were already gone.

I don't think you're overreacting, and I agree with you. Nintendo should really stop screwing around and get their heads out of their asses and do something already. Even an announcement that they are re-stocking all previous amiibos would go a long way.

I know what you're saying. But there are a lot of rare ones that I got for him but didn't get one for myself. I had no interest in King Dedede, Mega Man or Shulk, but I got them for him. I'm also trying to track down a Meta Knight for him, but I really don't want one for myself.
 
To be fair this is a repaint, so I'm cool with these being limited. The rosalina/meta knight/shulk/lucario thing was much much more annoying to me.

Also this is true. This does absolutely nothing different than the normal model.
The Metaknight/Shulk situation is much more BS.
 
I ordered 2 Gold Marios myself.

Any extra Amiibos I've ever gotten have gone to friends or other people that wanted them at cost, as a trade, or for free.

Do we know this for sure? Maybe Nintendo just hasn't announced that it will do something different if scanned.

And also, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo announces a Xenoblade X bundle that's packed with a Shulk amiibo.

That is actually quite debatable. Yes, obviously demand is higher than supply right now, but that demand is a direct result of having the stock limited and random exclusive stuff. Do you really think there would be that many people hounding threads like this actively looking and jumping on amiibo as they go live if they were always in stock for at least a month?

Right now nintendo is selling through pretty much any amiibo they make aside from the select few they keep well stocked to have a presence in store. They have been selling through at full retail price, and in general rarely have any sales on them.

I won't deny though as while this works well from a business standpoint it's a giant middle finger to any fans, but since we keep stalking their releases and buying them up, I doubt they will care that the fans are upset with the situation.

I had to take a test for a class, was literally looking at this thread all morning before hand.

This is really dumb and now I'll probably never get a gold mario lol.

Well it gives you a themed board for Mario Party 10. I bet someone is willing to take it out of the box and see. Otherwise, it should not do anything different for Smash.
Worse case scenario is that it takes the normal Mario part and puts a gold/silver filter on it.
But Nintendo seems pretty much to say that it is the same chip as the normal one.
 
Glad I have 0% interest in gold mario. Don't get the hype on that one at all.....I only ever wanted 1 Mario and the Smash version is still the coolest anyway.
 
So the gold Mario amiibo went up while I was having a complex dental procedure performed and couldn't possibly have been able to get it.

...I think I'm done with this shit.
