Smash. The Mario one is bigger, but less menacing and even cheaper looking. No color shaded hair, no chrome studs on wristbands, less pronounced scales, etc.

I'm going to try and pick up Kirby and Toad when the Target sale starts since both those characters unlock in-game features. Also to get that Kirby suit in MK8.

Target had 8 on Friday and I had to take the least shit looking one.
Yeah, Toad's vest is hit or miss. Shame too since these figures are fewer colors, less complex than the Smash series. Very few I've seen where the blue or the yellow is painted over with the other color.

He's my first Amiibo that I've actually noticed an issue right when I picked him up but I wouldn't say he looks terrible. A little bleeding of the blue onto the yellow in the two corners but nothing you would notice unless you actually picked him up which won't be an issue.

So what's the consensus on the Yoshi Amiibo between lines? I need one for Wooly World and am afraid Smash will go away soon.

Thanks, that was my first thought. Actually I'm not sure if I'll still get him. I've been getting into the Jakks figures as well and got a large Bowser figure. There were two on the Amiibo table for some reason. The Mario toy section instead had literally over 20 Donkey Kongs instead.
I have a Luigi I'm not sure I'll keep too. The thing is I have Peach and Donkey Kong and will get Toad, the Smash versions of Wario, Mario and Rosalina along with a Yoshi. I mean I might as well complete the Mario set, right?
The thing is I own a ton of Mario merchandise already, including mini figures. If I ccomplete the Mario set then that will push the Amiibos I plan to get to roughly 34 of the 47 planned. I'm afraid then I'll think 'Well I'm close to a full set, I should spend over a hundred on the rest'.
I recently have come to terms with not buying any Mario series Figuarts and Nendoroids as I have the series well-represented already and need to get anime figures and Amiibo.
I mean I have to draw a line somewhere.
Also went to a Walmart, Best Buy, Target and Toys R Us all today. The former two for some Layton games.
Toys R Us was very well stock compared to others. Especially to the pitiful Walmart column.
It looks like they are the store giving space to Amiibo in my area which kind of sucks because they add on a buck and I have GCU at Best Buy.
I guess that extra dollar allows them to provide floor space which I'll take over scalper prices.

TRU definitley has by far the biggest Amiibo section around me too. I didn't see any Toads there or Best Buy. Lots of Mega Man, Sonic, Sheik and Toon Link, as well as all the more common stuff of course.

I had gotten two Toad amiibo, and needed to return one. I examined both to see which had a better finish and found that the colour of the inside of their mouths was significantly different. One had a dark red paint job (almost black), and the other a much brighter shade of red.
I kept the brighter one 'cause I thought it looked better. Also I felt the tongue stood out too much against the darker red mouth Toad.

Yeah, my local TRU had a couple of Toads in stock.
They also had a "Game Traveler" case specifically for the NEW 3ds XL, which are apparently hard to come by atm.

$45 is crashed? It's still the highest priced amiibo afaik except for Metaknight ($50), after just 3 days after release (comparing others after just 3 days).

My Toad amiibo came today from Walmart.com! He looks great. <3
He's the only Mario series amiibo I'm getting... I'm not interested in having either of the Mario variants or two versions of Luigi, Peach, Bowser, etc. Of course, if they announce a second wave for the Mario amiibo series in the future that has Toadette, Daisy, etc., I'll be all over those!

So my store got 4 gold Mario's in last night. No one knows where the fuck they are. Last person seen with them was an assistant manager (who doesn't work electronics BTW) who claims he put them in our go backs. Guess what's not in our go backs?
If the Nintendo rep is to be believed, the port strike might still delay it for the US.

Even though it did end about a month or so ago I wonder if they have yet to get through all the cargo containers that went unopened during the strike. I would be surprised if things don't fully get back to normal for months to come.

Yeah it's not just amiibo sitting out there. This strike was going on since before Xmas, I'm not surprised that Wave 4 is taking this long.
And it makes complete sense why that listing for Wave 5 was just Splatoon and 2 Pokemon. They'll probably turn that shit around super fast and release Wave 5 right after Wave 4 and just make it smaller due to the shipping problems.
