Andor |OT| Disney+

yah the slew of Star Wars garbage lately and Obi Wan retroactively destroying canon and continuity really killed so much momentum.

Despite Rogue One being the only good star wars film in decades, still difficult to get hyped for this. Also how the hell did this guy get a lead role in anything he has zero to negative screen presence and charisma.

Unfortunately more than not lately these well crafted 2 minute trailers are made to be far more exciting than then the resulting season, which tends to drag, have uncharismatic characters, bad acting, poor writing, and plot holes. Hope for the best, expect the worst.

God, if we could get an HBO quality Star Wars story I would die from shock. I enjoy Campea but I usually take his opinions with a grain of salt. Good story and character development have been lacking in other Disney SW projects so I hope he's not just blowing smoke.

That he calls it out for lack of action has me worried. What is Star Wars if NOT "action action action"? Everytime they make a choice to NOT have action it invariably fails. Of course, half the time they DO have action, on D+ at least, it is a comical low budget farce, so maybe I should reserve judgement :p

It's the cinematography in the trailer that appealed to me, not really sure what the story is or why I should care. Personally, Andor as a character was the least interesting thing about RO. Are they gonna have that kick ass droid in it?

I'll watch it. But let's be honest, even though it's not Obi-Wan or Boba Fett, it's still pandering with a character from an older movie. He's obviously not as recognizable, sure. But still, I'd rather them go all out with something fresh and completely off the wall.

People forget how little "action" there is in the original movies. The Mandalorian wasn't action packed either.

In ANH, you have the opening scene then nothing until the Death Star escape (which is mostly sneaking around), and finally the big battle at the end. In ESB you have the opening battle, the asteroid chase, and the final duel/escape from Cloud City. RotJ you have the Jabba sequences at the beginning, a speeder bike chase, and the final battle. Lightsabers are on screen less than 5% of the runtime in all 3 of the original movies.

I'm skeptical they can tell a compelling Andor story too. The cinematography did raise my interest though, it looks way more competently made than the other shows.

More of a useful idiot.
The greatest trick the devil pulled was convincing people he doesn't exist....

Now imagine a "Usual Suspects" star wars film with an old Jar Jar talking to someone and through flashbacks it recast the prequels as JJ manipulating EVERYTHING like the sith Lord that he is :p

meesa think you writing too much dialog for the character. Little Ani is now my Sith boss. Meesa don't think so.

They really did a serial based on the less charismatic character in rogue one? The actor that made me stop care about narcos series?

Ok then.

He is an overrated and conceited actor.

Just be careful because if you get close to this actor, he can even steal your wallet.

I stopped watching this early on because they tend to get spoilery. They love it. I think my hype for this show is getting dangerously out of control now. FUCK

Do all three episodes come tomorrow? or was that a media thing?
3 episodes at once! Apparently, this is a 12-episode season of a 24-episode story. The first impressions indicate it's a slower burn which is probably why they're releasing 3 to start things off.

The first 12 episodes take place over a year. The second 12 episodes cover four years, with three episodes per year.

Oh yeah, that's some lazy shit right there. I get the OG props were barely modded real weapons but come on! And how exactly does he aim that thing? Former stormtrooper for sure :p

No fuckin way... How did that thing even get on set? Is Alec Baldwin producing this movie???

She is absolutely clueless or she is trolling.

As a Star Wars fan I don’t mind Easter eggs but in general they’re starting to grate on my nerves, especially when they’re overdone. To make a Star Wars show without Easter eggs sounds amazing to me.
It's kinda concerning to see people, a "critic" no less (although a youtube one), take the stance that art should be created primarily to serve "the consumer"

If this is a troll it's a reeaaally weird one.

This is though, one of the dumbest things I've heard in a long time. If there is one thing I'm sick and tired of it's the relentless use of easter eggs. It I think the Jurassic World franchise is a prime example of this. It is all the time, everywhere. Easter eggs and call backs at such high speeds you start to wonder if the film makers even trust their own product to be able to stand on its own.

This show is pretty than obi wan but definitely much slower. That said im just starting ep 3 and its pretty good so far but it reaaaally takes its time which is unfortunate because I know where the story is heading by the end of ep 1 but its taking 2 eps to get there.

I've been mostly positive on all the Sw shows, I really enjoyed kenobi and even think Boba fett has value for the character it portrays even if it flies off the trails in the last half.

But this show about a unique character one that isnt tied to legacy stuff is welcome. Of course star wars fans are the most fickle bunch and I already see folks complaining about the lack of cameos when cameos are the only reason they praised Mandog
and they criticized the st for having few cameos.

Basically there's no pleasing them, so they need to just focus on interesting stories and let the fanbaze work itself out.

So one of the creators of the series has said “Andor will be dealing with a Trumpian government.

And all I can picture is:

Small hands ‪Palp: “We have the best Empire. It’s so huge. My granddaughter Rey, who is so sexy, will be apart of my administration.”‬

Not enough typos for that to be REAL trumpian

That said, thus franchise started off about a group of insurrectionists who destroy property, loot business, and engage in violence against the law enforcement officials all for the service of opposing fascism and highlighting the evils of the regime above them that was ruling over the galactic system by means of a manipulated election and corrupted office.... and those were the good guys.

Anyone who's familiar with star wars would be expecting this sort of narrative

Grace Randolph 100% trolls on purpose. It's to create discussion like this. I constantly see people talking about her ridiculous statements, and that's why.

She'll just say weird stuff. I remember her Spider-Man No Way Home review tried to claim there were only two action scenes. Like, you know from the trailers that it just isn't true. So it's all a bit weird.

I hate when people generalize the entire fandom like this. You're talking about a current population of over 1 million people worldwide, and a nearly 50-year history. It's the 5th highest grossing media franchise of all time. This fandom you say "can't be pleased" has generated about $70 billion in revenue and kept the brand relevant. Stop perpetuating this low IQ stereotype based on a minority of bad actors. Fan blaming is the worst modern trend and it needs to go away. The prequels were shit, and Disney sucks - but there are thousands of books, comics, games etc etc etc that have been universally loved across the fandom for decades.

Anyway, this "fickle" Star Wars fan can't wait to get home and watch this shit. I was done after Boba Fett but if this show is good I'll happily give credit where it's due.

But I'd say the folks who think an election can be "stolen", resist the government and get cracked down on, and force the gov to keep a permanent armed presence in the capitol and the same gov't has to resort to threats to enforce an unpopular policy, etc, far more describes the current political situation than the prior one.

Seems odd to me to put yourself (the staffer who said it, not you) out there with the "trumpian empire" statement. It is needlessly inflammatory, contributes nothing to the story, and is basically a virtue signal. Hope that idiot got a stern talking to in the back room at the very least.

Lol, universally loved is a massive stretch. And the fans spending money on something doesn't indicate that they like it. I've been in the SW fandom for a very long time, I'm well aware what I'm saying and I 100% stand by it. I'm not speaking of every indivial in the fandom obviously, but they are not above blame for the state of the franchise(which for all intents isn't even a bad state looking at it objectively) and they are not above reprimand for their constant hours of collective childish behavior.

There being a few products with wide appeal doesn't change that their sensibilities change like the wind, they are inconsistent and ultimately spoiled. I guarantee when this Jedi adventures mini comes out and its just a regular old story of jedi that doesnt have any lore revelations or major canon switches but is still pretty solid, it will be called "mid".
Anyway, this "fickle" Star Wars fan can't wait to get home and watch this shit. I was done after Boba Fett but if this show is good I'll happily give credit where it's due.

This is exactly what I'm talking about lol. You're "done" after one show you didn't like? But then you come back less than a year later? How did you make it this far in the franchise when theres arguably just as much mediocre product as good?

The eps are great by the way. 3 is fantastic. The first two are solid but very slow and probably could've been condensed into one episode
