Did you guys know that just by adding a little curved screen to the side of an existing phone you actually make the whole Android ecosystem a bit worse? But it makes the software better but reduces the performance and the camera quality.

Yeah, I know that but they could at least agree on a company level that ecosystem remains equal irrespective of the reviewer. And a smart publication would also normalize the rating for the exact same camera running on the exact same hardware with the same software. I agree that things which are purely subjective such as size or design are allowed to differ between reviewers but camera? Or ecocystem? Come on.

I know, I know, that Note 3 vs iPhone 6+ review.

I understand the design score, everything else?

Dear Verge, stop fucking using scores.

Have your writers create a sentence explaining what you want an 8/10 to mean.

Uhhhhh, something's wrong. How do I have only 1GB free?
how does this even happen

I had this happen to me and I was completely baffled. There apparently is a ton of residual and caches nonsense that isn't need it. I had to use a memory cleaning app and I free'd up a few gigs that way. I only have the luxury of 8GB. I do have a microSD being used but not everything can go on there.

Ecosystem could also take into account the lack of support for the side screen gimmick.

I'm not waiting for a Nexus 6, so it's out of a Note 4 or Z3 for me. Or Ultra Z. But Ultra Z is a year old damn it, but it has a huge normous screen.

So I have Android L on my Nexus 7, and now the volume buttons change notification sound volume (which I pretty much always want to be muted) instead of speaker volume (which I change a whole lot of the time). If I have something like a video or music playing, sometimes the volume buttons will change speaker volume, sometimes they don't.

How do I mute the volume before I look at porn?

I really hate the contextual volume control of Android. Just pop up all the sliders (I think Samsung does this actually...)

never left the stone age
Got the new Moto G model today and hot damn, it feels like a quality phone, it feels great to hold and the OS is kickass. Camera is surprisingly decent even. Teaches me right about getting the latest most awesome expensive stuff right away lol.

Edit: Is there an up to date Android Gaming OT? I've searched but haven't found any recent ones. I'd love to check out some nice stuff that I missed in the past 3 years.

Are those good pictures? I mean, I can't tell. Even the HDR+ ones have some noise.
the HDR ones look good for a nexus/motorola device. Nothing special, obviously not top tier level like new iphones and what have you but it's also better than the nexus 5.

The pics without HDR...yikes lol.

My other half had a z ultra and then got a z2. He preferred the Z ultra just because the screen is so massive. However there are noticeable performance differences and the camera on the z2 is way better.

I'd suggest just for future proofing a bit to go for the Z3.

What the hell? These pictures are GORGEOUS.

And we're viewing them on a computer monitor. If an iPhone 5s took these shots and you blew them up on a monitor they'd look pretty much the same.

Unless someone is a professional photographer (in which case they'd be carrying a dslr anyways if they want top-notch photos), this camera will more than satisfy %99 of the people using it.

If only there was an Ultra Z3. Then my mind would be made!

Edit:

Here are some random iPhone 5s shots I found from the verge. Guess what? They're all a little fuzzy on a computer monitor. But they probably look pretty damn good on an iPhone 5s screen.

But I guess if Nexus 6 photos are a little fuzzy on a computer monitor it must automatically be shit because LOL NEXUS/MOTO CAMERAS.

People have been saying this since the iPhone 4.

...if you have a Wi-Fi N7. The LTE version and the N4+N5 won't be getting it until a few weeks later.

This is killing me. I hope the image leaks sooner.

I was trying to convert my AT&T HTC M8 to GPE, but i couldn't get firewater or sunshine to work, I'm unable to S-Off...any other way guys?

Try to get s-off using sunshine on maximus rom..this is all assuming you already have unlocked the bootloader & have a custom recovery

Lol. Those pictures don't look that bad. I can't wait to see comparisons with other phones in order to definitively say LOL Nexus/Moto camera or not.
I hope I don't have to

So my brother has an att galaxy s5 and out of no where, his camera pictures are very blurry and horrible. It seems like the camera has a problem focusing.

He tried restoring the phone, and updating to the newest software, but still the same so we're figuring it's some failure with the sensor? He has an appointment with the att device center on Tuesday so hopefully they replace it.

One problem though.. His phone says "custom" and has an open padlock whenever it boots up. He did have a custom rom on it before, and used safestrap to install it,but now he's back to stock. The padlock wasn't there when he had the custom rom on it, but when he flashed back to stock and updated it, it appeared. He's no longer rooted so I have no idea how to get rid of that for him. Any idea? Knox has not been triggered according to the service menu.

Anyone? I can not reroot because I'm on the latest Ota update.

Hurry up and buy them Google:

The pass feature is probably the most impressive and is what you see in the video above. A long-press of the app switcher button and you can beam the current state of your app to another device and instantly pick up where you left off. The Nextbit backup service will allow you to store apps and data in the cloud for easy restoration to new devices, similar to Google's new app restore in Lollipop. All the cloud data in Nextbit is kept in Amazon's AWS, and the data only syncs over WiFi to avoid destroying your data cap or battery life.
