Android |OT5| The Sonic Cycle

Does the S6 come with free At Bat sub? I went in and the loading screen has a custom Galaxy S6 art and I didn't pay for At Bat just MLB radio. I can listen to the games live though.

Meh, Note 4 was still a pretty bad cam compared to i6 in a number of scenarios.

S6 finally giving Android parity!

edit: DL review is up: http://www.droid-life.com/2015/04/08/samsung-galaxy-s6-review/

Lol at this comment:

I really want to like this review, I do, but the bias is just too much to swallow. From the iPhone 6 review:

"The camera on the backside of the device protrudes out from the phone’s shell. This is a terrible design decision for a number of reasons, most importantly though, because now your $650+ phone has an always exposed camera lens that will take the brunt of every collision."

"The iPhone 6 is probably the ugliest, worst designed product that Apple has released in, well, years. Let me explain why. First of all, the rounded edges surrounding its body, coupled with its aluminum exterior make it incredibly slippery."

So, Samsung makes a phone with a glass front and back, rounded edges, and a protruding camera and he freaks out like there's no tomorrow? Don't get me wrong, I think the S6 is gorgeous, but it's like, damn Kellex, calm down.

Called the fuck out.

Most disappointing thing about the S6 is the battery life. I have the Xperia Z3 Compact so it would really be hard for me to go backwards.. Not that the S6's battery life is bad, but I'm just use to have the best out of any high end smartphone today. I don't mind the lack of SD because 32 GB is the base and I don't download 2GB apps to my phone. Everything else seems pretty great about it: design, camera, screen, speed, and browsing performance.

It's a shame, it's obvious they wanted to match iPhone 6's thickness. The S6 with a bigger battery would be pretty amazing.

I don't get it. Why is this the complete opposite experience to what people here are getting? (referring to comments from last week)

Was yours a fresh install?

Not fresh install, was a quick 20mins install and reboot done via Sony PC Companion.
Guess my phone is relatively free of apps and games so there are less compatibility problems. Im using the basic sony/google apps and maxthon

Do you have a close all apps option in the task switcher?

Yes the option is available
EJTBmIo.png

Though my much vaunted "Location based wifi" toggle is gone. I think it is on by default, as the wifi auto switches off(icon disappears) when no wifi is detected.

Wireless USB connectivity is still working, and seems to be detecting faster! Probably because now the phone always connects at AC speeds.

you know what? I think people having issues is most likely due to existing apps like you mentioned. I'm going to check the PC companion app tonight and see if the update is available for my phone. Because I use this phone for work, IT won't allow me to root it so flashing reliable roms hasn't been an option for me. Whenever I get the lollipop update, first thing I'm doing is removing the 'what's new' toggle and the small apps from the multitask screen. Thankfully, you don't need to be rooted to remove those.

The "whats new" was already removed from the home button for a long while back. It had, and still remained as just an app. Sony listens. :D

however with 5.0.2, you will need to use the "whats new" as the update center has been incorporated into it.

Played around with an S6 today.

Design wise, it's probably the best non-Apple glass sandwich design. Comfortable, with the right smoothings. Sony could learn a thing or two here.

Camera is FAST. And I never knew I wanted home button to camera as much as I did.

what do you mean? I'm on the last update before lollipop which was 4.4.4? There have been no updates in between...

Or are you saying that the 'what's new' app was removed from home after applying an update to the actual what's new app itself within the update center? (I know that sounds confusing).

EDIT: http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/11/18/whats-new-update-1-4-a-0-0-removes-shortcut-when-swiping-up/

holy shit, lol..

So as some people may know I was due for an upgrade, I've ended up going with the LG G3 and I'm in love!

Couple of questions.. Any general advice to get the most out of the phone? Any cool tips I should know about?

Another thing, I'm trying to get it set up and re-download all of my apps but for some reason all of the apps are stuck on downloading, they aren't doing anything. I've tried rebooting multiple times, tried clearing the cache on download manager.. I don't know what else to do? A few apps have eventually downloaded which is weird.

It's not my connection because I have tried both Wi-Fi and 4G.

The discussion was about the best android smartphone camera not the best smartphone camera.

that's a dope camera, samsung runs that game on android
Starting with the S6, sure. Before that, the last good camera from them was, what, the Note 2?

Google should get Samsung's camera for their next Nexus. The phone can be made by some other manufacturer (probably Motorola or HTC I have a feeling)

Nexus camera is no slouch right now. It's near the cream of the crop, but it still ain't no Samsung camera. Samsung puts fairy dust in theirs I swear. Anyways, the real improvement needs to be done in software, the hardware is already there. Elgoog needs step up their game.

I take so many things for granted in the world of Android.

Take iCloud for example. There's an iCloud Drive. It's the same as Google Drive and OneDrive and Dropbox. You install the iCloud application on Windows and Mac OS, it creates a folder or directory called iCloud Drive, you put a file in the drive, and it appears on every PC or Mac which has iCloud installed.

Except...there's no iCloud Drive app for iOS. You cannot access your iCloud Drive from iPhone or iPad.

What exactly the fuck is the point of iCloud Drive then, Apple? What the fuck am I supposed to do with this fucking thing? Oh right, I'm supposed to install Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox for iOS and use those instead. Goddammit.

A 3rd party app launched like a week ago. Haven't tried it yet though. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mach-drive-cloud-file-manager/id980435179?ls=1&mt=8

That usually means that some app is stuck or something. Try to install a couple of them manually before selecting all of them again.

Why do people do this. Why don't they just call it like it is. Quit apologizing for a company.

Android only sites are as much fanboyish as apple only sites. Negative comments get voted down, glaring problems and issues portrayed as minor things, stock circle jerk...

Protruding cameras are the devil, but I don't think they're going anywhere as long as companies push for better optics and thinner bodies.

VanMardigan

has calmed down a bit.
Doesn't Note 4 always come out on top of PhoneArena's blind camera tests? Anything else is subjective really. Note 4 > iPhone camera as far as most people's unbiased opinions are concerned.

Lumia 930 beats it when they bother to include it. Microsoft will have the best camera on a phone this year again when the flagship launches assuming they don't cancel windows phone altogether.

Just noticed my phone qualified for some Sony promotion via their Xperia lounge app. Seems to be free for anyone with a Z2 or above? Got three free Sony movies. Only Sd res though which is a bit silly when promoting flagship phones with HD screens, but worth trying out.

All a bit random though. They fill the phone full of own brand apps which you ignore because they are mostly trash.

So the Moto 360 v2 rumours have it pegged at 360 x 360 screen meaning they'd get rid of that dumb black bar and an ARM v7 CPU, not a stupid TI chip.

They have my attention.

Yes, yes, yes… I mean, it's not like they have a choice, after the Huawei Vaporware and G Watch R, but it's still good to know. I'm hoping for a smaller 38mm or 40mm version, too.

It's been there since the launch of the Z3.

I got HD and SD copies of the three though. And you can watch them through Playstation Video on the PS4, which is nice. Saved me buying Ghostbusters when I wanted it for my nephews the other day.
