Question!

I have a Note 4 running 5.0.1. I have been using Podcast Addict for quite some time. I just put a 32GB SD card in, and went to change my Podcast location:

So does this mean I can't make use of my card for Podcast storage? Is there any workaround?

Next question: is there a better option for Podcast management?

You need root to enable SD card writing feature.

I don't think that's correct. It's saying you can't change the path on the SD card, you just have to write it in its own folder. But it will be on the SD card.

Correct, but he can't change the locations to like /sd/podcasts without root.

Exactly. So if nicoga3000 doesn't care that they go into /storage/extSDcard/Android/data/com.bambuna.podcastaddict/files, it will actually write to the SD Card. You'd only need root if you care where they go.

Question;

I'm getting my dad a HUDL 2 for his 60th and would like to know if there are video player apps for android that will allow him to play video files that are copied to the tablet from his computer. I'm not sure what file types they will be. Is there something like VLC media player for tablets that will play any files he may transfer over?

This is probably very basic stuff but I'm a dunce. I hope this is the right place to ask.

Thanks.

There is indeed. It's called VLC media player in the Google Play store.

It's been there since the launch of the Z3.

I got HD and SD copies of the three though. And you can watch them through Playstation Video on the PS4, which is nice. Saved me buying Ghostbusters when I wanted it for my nephews the other day.

Hmm, they aren't showig up against my sony entertainment account, just in that prestige app thing on the phone.

You mean Xperia Lounge or Video Unlimited?

Edit: Looking through Xperia Lounge they might have changed the offer, because it seems to be three films from a selection now and not a set three. Let me see if I can redeem it again and check.

LG pimping that 16mp f/1.8 camera. Apparently only going into fab this week, so don't look for the G4 to hit any time soon.

after the oneplus fiasco an S6 is actually tempting. After using a 5.5'' screen though I don't know if I can go back to using anything smaller.

Might have to cop a Note 4. Camera isn't as good, but its a well rounded phone. Maybe even an N6. We'll see

Looks like the S6 cameras, I wonder how the pics will come out with it. For all the G3 hype I thought it was pretty disappointing, the performance of the 801 wasn't matched well to the QHD display. Hopefully they do better with the G4.

The weird thing with the 801 is that the people with the 805 version said there wasn't a huge difference in performance.

I would actually even buy a Note 4 when the 5 comes out because it would be cheaper and still a terrific device.

It's a pretty decent idea when you consider that we probably aren't going to be seeing Android 6.0 any time soon. So most phones will be on 5.0 or 5.1 for the foreseeable future I think.

Want to get a wireless charger for my N6 but can't seem to find the official one for sale anymore and it doesn't seem to be on Google play either. Anyone seen one in the UK? is it even worth getting over all the ones on ebay?

Never actually used a wireless charger but I take it I wouldn't be able to connect the quick charger to it?

You don't need the original, I used a Samsung one with mine. And no, nothing about wireless charging is quick, doesn't matter which cable you use.

The G2 still runs excellent, so a G4 would be a consideration, but you are right, the G3 was not a significant improvement where it counts.

I had a look at that, it's a different offer to the one that was on Video Unlimited. I agree it seems like a bit of a mess. Especially when I now have two separate unrelated video services from Sony on my phone that don't talk to each other and neither of which do Ultraviolet. Sigh. And the Premiere thing doesn't use any of my already silly four Sony logins.

I like to keep a bunch of stuff on reserve, so it would be nice. But if it's an issue, I'll just manage my files better. :p

I hope you love paying $1,200 for your phone with 128 GB of storage

There's going to be phones with expandable storage and some without, people get to choose with Android. For me, it's a nice to have but there are complications with apps having issues saving to external storage. It's not as seamless as just having a large pool in built in storage. Also the speeds of UFS is insane, that should have a direct effect on performance with everything you do on the S6. Here in Canada 128gb SD card is $120, the price bump to 128gb for the S6 is $220 IIRC. You pay a premium no doubt, but the experience should be nicer just having a large pool of fast internal memory.

I've owned iPhones for years and it's never really been an issue, you pay more upfront but you get much of it back when you sell it.

It sucks for people that already have 128gb cards that they want to just move to a new device, for people that don't have one t it's not as big of an issue.

It's been two days since my S4 received Lollipop. The phone handles it like a champ. Performance & overall smoothness is definitely better than before, and battery life seems about the same (still getting around 5 or so hours of SoT). The only thing that's worse is charging speed. The battery charges significantly slower than it did on KitKat. Weird.

I also had to Odin back to stock, losing my app/game data in the process, but at least I backed it all up in case a root method is found.

I hope the next Nexus uses USB c and removes the headphone jack. Headphone jacks are awful and such a relic. Then again, the Nexus 6 has speaker grills that are used to house lint.

Headphone sockets aren't going anywhere until acceptable quality Bluetooth headphones are under 3 figures. I mean, I don't mind paying that for a good pair, but even the mid range sound quality seems to start at £99.99.

Speaking of, apparently Beats Studio are the best wireless pair... I don't mind paying £300, but I wouldn't mind getting something that at least looks slightly different than what everyone else in the street is wearing.... Or get the bright blue pair.

I think the convenience of them isn't there yet. Pairing is a pain, charging, no ideal designs yet, they don't just work always.

People don't really care about sound quality.
