Android |OT5| The Sonic Cycle

Honestly, I'm hoping the G4 will be good, even with the 810. Brownlee even said the M9 with the 810 still has a lower temp than the LG G3 does.

Guys, I'm going to renew my phone contract in the coming two months and I'm not sure what to buy now. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, is an "upgrade" to the LG G3 worth it (€30 a month)? I think it looks insanely sweet and I assume it's somewhat better too. I don't think I'll be buying an S6, M9 or G4, all of them seem to be €45 a month and that's too much at the moment.

After coming off an S4 myself, yes. But only if it's the 32gb version. The 16 is too hamstrung.

soo , the UHD Super AMOLED is real from samsun , and maybe the Note 5 will have it

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Note...-dual-edge-version-with-record-762ppi_id68088

samsung-display-slide-1.jpg

Ultra HD 2160 x 3840 pixels Super AMOLED displays
5.78" for the inevitable dual edge Note 5, and 5.89 inches for the regular, flat display version

note sure how they gonna make it
what the point again for a ~5 inch screen to be bigger then 1080P ?

Waiting on ZHD myself.

Dude, the Zune HD came out in 2009 and has already been discontinued. Sorry. The OLED display was really great, though. Low res, but the colors and blacks were much nicer to look at than whatever shit Samsung and Google decided to put into the Galaxy Nexus.

Yeah sure thing here you go http://i.imgur.com/yD2etuN.jpg

Also guys any idea why this lousy dot keeps appearing? only thing in my notification is the Android wear one and this only just started happening a couple of days ago. http://i.imgur.com/gTo9fQa.png it's a bit hard to make out in the picture.

Thanks. I have one of these at work and it works well with my Nexus 5, as long as I place it right under the LEDs. No fiddling required. That said, if yours was $5 incl. shipping, too, then maybe the quality control isn't that good.

Anyone here use android auto on their cars? My device isn't compatible and I'm pretty sure my car isn't either but I'm curious as to what others think of it.

So basically LG copies Samsung who copies Apple. I eagerly await the dual edged metal and glass G5.

LG > Samsung > Apple
LG > Moto

LG copied the worst part of Moto, that ugly ass leather.

10 bucks says apple copies Moto with the always listening tech this year since they already made an attempt at it (Hey Siri while plugged in).

4K resolution on a 5.7 inch phone? Lol, say goodbye to battery life.

You can try Automate, its a port of android auto that works on your phone. Its in beta, but its not too bad for a 1.0.

We might be getting a *bit* excessive lol.

But I can't knock it till I rock it. Let's wait and see.

The screen should be 6.3 inches. If you're going to go in, go ALL in!

Yes, I meant the 32GB version because of the 3GB of RAM. I thought maybe it makes it a little more "future" proof for the next two years. So the switch is worth it then? Thanks!

Just make sure that the 5.5 inch screen is good for you. Its the most compact phone in its class but it's still a big phone.

Not really. It has the same battery life as any 1080p phone with the same size battery.
s5 had better battery, and this is with some supposedly super efficient chip.

The only way a 1080p phone could have the same or better battery is if it was bigger in dimensions. And that's a shitty trend. I don't like any of these trends lol. Big ass phones. Skinny ass phones.

The battery life claims in reviews are all over the place. It seems like the battery is above average which is par for the course for most flagships.

GSG Flash

Nobody ruins my family vacation but me...and maybe the boy!
you blame the screen and mention the smaller battery, but the benchmarks show the real culprit...

premium materials antenna design.

when the screen is on, the battery life is better than the GS5.

it suffers when cell tower connectivity comes into play.

I would probably bet on this being true.

That said, the Edge has given me pretty good battery life so far.

maybe. Maybe not. I bet the vast majority of the reviews saying the battery life are worse weren't using the cellular tech much.

Doens't the S5 have a bigger battery? 2800 mAh vs 2550mAh.
but the new soc is supposed to be a lot more efficient so it's kind of moot on this one. Which is why the thinness/resolution/etc...is to blame and not so much the battery size.

With that said, bigger battery would have been better. But again...thinness.

But the battery test isn't to cater to just the web browser and media users. Oh and your comparison is weak as well because you mentioned the smaller chip but didn't mention it is also powering more pixels.
the fact that it's powering more pixels is basically my whole point

the pixel pushing is getting stupid and battery is getting worse unless you rock a giant phone

Also I've never been a fan of GSMarena's battery benchmarking overall. I'm just going off of what the majority of reviews have said.

Ars is already up

Ouch, there's the cold hard battery truth. Samsung was so stupid to go with the Quad HD screen.

Ars also confirmed you can only do always listening with s-voice. OK google with long press on home but s-voice when phone is off. Wtf Samsung.

There is still a VoLTE bug that's destroying battery life. Fixing it won't work miracles, but it will definitely help.

On my moms vzw s6 VoLTE was not setup by default. If thats the case on most carriers I dont see the bug being that big of an issue.

I was able to use it with Nova launcher. I'm not sure with the Touchwiz launcher. The only thing is that it doesn't work from a screen off state.

Edit: It worked the same way with the Touchwiz launcher as well.

The lack of ok google screen off is what Im referring to. You don't need to change the launcher to have it respond to it from any screen with the screen on. You can set this in the google now settings with a stock phone.

Pretty sweet the google now screen is finally hitting the mass market for the first time. Samsung must be just squirming now that google is forcing OEMS to add it to the home button.
