I too am interested in the OP2 with all the interesting rumours of going more premium and fingerprint scanner and all that. Time will tell. I don't think this April 20th event is it though.

Also Google will probably push payment hard at I/O this year which will make me surprised if the next nexus doesn't have a scanner. But this IS google.

Buying a premium priced phone from a company like Oneplus makes the gamble even more difficult to make.

Buying a super expensive phone from a company infamous for its horrible customer service is a bad idea.

If your issues are performance/battery life/bug related then do a factory reset first.

If you just don't like lollipop in general well then go to the z3 xda forum to find a way to get back to kitkat (Although I feel its silly to roll back because its inevitable you will end up with lollipop or the next version on your next phone anyway).

Thank you for the reply.

Nah, there's no performance issues or anything.

I just preferred the way notifications worked on 4.4.4. I'll get used to lollipop in a few days though, so hopefully it'll be fine.

it continues to be the thing that frustrates me about the android ecosystem. So few lack the total package. Want the better battery then you go G4, but then you don't get the fingerprint/smaller form factor of the S6. Always have to chooooooose.

Really wish samsung didn't go so thin. Also I think the leaks point to a S808 for the G4. Guess we will find out. Not that I plan to get that either.

Turn that around and it becomes a positive. The thing I like about the android ecosystem is that you can choose what area is most important to you and buy a device tuned for that.

With iOS you aren't necessarily getting 'the complete package' either - you just don't have another manufacturer making a competing iOS device to compare with it.

I agree on that but I'm goig to hope they get their shit together for round 2.

but they're all important to me. Camera is important, battery life is important, size is important, etc...

Yeah I can choose an android phone with beast battery but it will either have a shitty camera (droid turbo) or be huge. And that's if it's even available in my country or whatever. S6 gets props for being the closest to perfect. I'm sure G4 will be similar.

I don't know how I've lived this long without multi-window/split screen.

I can now browse GAF while Whatsapping, I can browse GAF while watching hockey and I can even browse GAF while browsing GAF.

No one corrected me but I said the G4 will likely not have a fingerprint sensor but I was wrong, all the rumours point to yes.

If the Xperia redesign is true then sony should as well. I wonder who will be the loser that releases without one this year. I fear it will be motorola :/

HTC already answered the call!

I haven't seen any rumors pointing to the G4 having a fingerprint sensor.

I hope the New Xperia isn't based on that render, because that stuff is hideous. I also hope for Sony that the Y Series is not a real thing.

"Get the new Xperia Why"

I wouldn't mind since I'm not keen on the idea of a finger print scanner.

Hey gafs, my Nexus 5 is getting old, instable and all. I already got a second one from Google (which was not new but don't care cause nothing dramatically change) but the battery life and stock android are killing me right know.

Should I got for the brand new but expensive S6? Looking at the G3 or the Z3 but both are getting retired very soon. Or get the big boy Note 4?

I don't play a lot of game (Terra Battle or FF Record Keeper), some whatsapp/FB, a lot a YouTube and time spend watching anime on my phone. Oh and browsing tech sites and GAF.

It's the best thing ever. Like, on whatsapp it's so awesome if my friend links me to a YouTube video and it just opens it up in split view and can watch it while still talking to him.

Note question. It's not at all an Edge case.

This is feature I want to use the most when I get the S6. I would love to watch video and browse gaf at the same time. Or in my car having maps and spotify open at the same time, that would be tits (if spotify is supported in multi-window mode, please tell me its supported).

Gaf I'm about to place an order for my new upgrade but stuck between HTC M9 or Galaxy S6.
Which should I get?
Regards.

S6 unless you have to have the SD card slot, metal build or really prefer Sense over TouchWiz. The M9 is worse than the M8 in many ways, if you're leaning towards HTC I would just get the M8 and save some cash.

My oneplus one is really pissing me off lately, everything I type is filled with typos, scrolling speed is inconsistent. This was happening on kit kat and it's still happening on lollipop. Is it the phantom touches that I read about fucking things up?

what OS are you running? If cyanogen try flashing Oxygen on there. If Oxygen then try cyanogen. See if it still happens.

So therefore you don't need the latest and greatest phone. So what if the G3/Z3 get retired? The phones don't blow up in your hands when the new models come out. Both would be a good choice for you and because they have replacements coming soon, you may be able to get them for a discount. I got my Z3 for £400 which is probably 2/3 what the Z4/5/whatever will cost when brand new.

I'm more of a Google Play Music guy, but I downloaded Spotify to try it out just for you and I have some good news:

People in this thread over react in this thread so much that you would think that M9 is the worst phone released in the past 5 years. It's disappointing, but not a bad phone by any means. I played with one yesterday along with the S6 and Nexus 6. A while back I said that the M8 was the fastest Android phone I've ever used in terms of navigating the OS and launching programs. Faster than the S6. Faster than my Xperia Z3 Compact (which is smooth and never lags). Faster than both generations of the Moto X. The M9 feels exactly the same and that's a very good thing.

I agree, there's a lot of hyperbole here regarding the M9, and I'm guessing none of the people criticizing it have used it.

The M9 is disappointing when compared to the M7 or M8, but it's definitely not a bad phone. I love Sense as well, it's up there as one of Android's best skins.

Fuck yes. I was on the reg S6 train, but I just picked up an Edge 64gb with a Sammy wireless charger. Found too good of a deal to pass up. Hope the edges don't bug me over extended usage.

Edit: Holy fuck this thing charges fast.

Yup. Now that its warm out the screen is fucking up. It's an adhesive/grounding issue

So, Google/LG never fixed the problem with the Nexus 4 randomly rebooting when using the camera.

But that's OK, because my daughter dropped her Nexus 4 yesterday and the screen broke, so I had to get her a Moto G. :p

I gotta say, it sure feels great having the crisp clicks every time I power the phone on, hit the home button, or change the volume. The s6 definitely feels fantastic. I guess its the "premium" experience lolol

So which phones currently have 5.1? Any impressions around?

I have experience with the moto g and the s6 in 5.1 and well... the moto g is a better but a bit bland experience to me. the s6 feels great over all though it doesnt strike me as much more bloated than the moto g in user experience. However, the s6 is a far more powerful phone.

I've been running 5.1 on my Nexus 5 and its really buggy. I started getting random power offs even with like 75% battery. What is even worst is that you need to plug it in and wait for app optimization to get it running again.

The power button on my S6 Edge feels infinitely nicer than the one on my 5S, which is wobbly and flimsy in comparison, Samsung definitely hit the build quality portion out of the park.

April 19. Still no Lollipop update for the Xperia Z3v. Or a fix for it sending multiple texts, which it's done since day 1. Thank you, Verizon, for being so consumer friendly.

You're expecting the OEM that is the slowest to upgrade as well as the carrier that doesn't give a shit to upgrade anything to give you 5.0 at a reasonable time?

Not necessarily expect, just frustrated I guess. I'm not even that bothered about lack of 5.0, i just wish Verizon would fix the texting issue so I quit hearing about it.

Verizon will sit on bad bugs like that for 6 months to a year. Especially if its not a top seller.

I was in a situation once with my career where many of my users had the vzw galaxy nexus and Verizon completely fucked me. I will never go back to them without heavily thinking about it first. Even if that means worse reception.

My Xperia Ray (don't laugh?) is starting to go insane so I should probably change for something else.
I won't spend more than around 150€ so I guess it's a Moto G 4G...It would be a first gen one though. 2nd gen is around 50€ more I doubt it's worth it?

I guess future android updates would be out of question but it's probably not that big of a deal.

I don't use my phone for many fancy things, mainly as a web and shitty f2p machine.

Am I doing it right with that choice?
Sorry I hate to be that guy but I'm feeling rather lost with this.

Its a decent choice as long as your OK with some sluggish performance and a terrible camera. It has fantastic battery life.

2nd gen has a better camera but worse battery life. You are better off getting a 1st gen moto x then a 2nd gen moto g.
