can't wait for sept 9. simply because PB3 on my 5s sucks ass
Both iOS 9 and El Capitan most likely won't come out on the 9th. iOS will be out when the iPhone is available for purchase (A week or so later) and El Capitan probably a month later when they do their annual Mac event in October.

"for the non-prosumer"

Non-prosumers who own DSLRs are basically using them as glorified point and shoots w/ kit lenses, so yeah - camera phones are doing to those what they already did to dedicated point and shoot. That's over and done with. The camera market's fucked because the masses have switched to phones.

Well if you define "non-prosumer" as people who don't give a shit about image quality or creative freedom, and only bought a DSLR for bragging rights, then sure, you're right. I guess there's a lot of these people are out there.

They really disabled cursor scrolling on iphones on the beta? That sucks, but it makes me wonder if they're saving other iPad features for the 6s.

I don't care for split screen apps, but pleaaase have PiP.

Mobile gaming sucks right now for one reason: no buttons. Add Force Touch and voila, mobile games no longer suck.
lol force touch is nowhere near good enough to replace buttons, it won't do poop for mobile gaming.
The iPhone 6S has USB type C right?
Seems leaks point that way.

Sadly no it will still have Lightning and sincerely i don't know what leak have you seen about it because i've seen none that point to that.

dont think i want usb C anyway. i have several lightning cables around which i can reuse for iphone6s

Really? Do you have a device with Force Touch? Because I have two different devices with it, and I think you're completely wrong. It will simulate a button press, which is a hell of a lot better than nothing.

Many of you need to actually try Force Touch before dismissing it as an unworthy feature. In reality, the 6/6+ keepers are missing out on a huge hardware upgrade.

Field of view kills smartphone cameras for me. I came on holiday with just my phone this time - it's a place we've been to multiple times so I just wanted something to capture candid memories. But the field of view is so wide its shit unless you get in people's faces. As much as I'm curious about the new iphone's camera, I'd probably need some kind of clip on lens to make it usable.

Phones are kind of the wrong sizes for me though. 4.7" is a little too small, and 5.5" a bit too big. 5.2" would have been ideal. I am getting frustrated with androids random 'oh today I'll keep the CPU awake and kill your battery for no reason' though.

I've played around with the apple watch extensively, I have never run into any type haptic feedback in the device. I think your setting yourself up for disappointment.

Not sure if it was posted but the 16Go first model rumor is gonna be true :(

Does anyone else have sprint? I have the 6 and and curious if I can upgrade immediately, as per their program.

:lol at 16GB. No surprise.

Apple don't give a shit.

I wish they would give us 3GB RAM instead of 2 though. Would be so much nicer.

It already has one of the best camera's out which is a capable shooter so no.

The ability to choose customs apps and adding widgets to a home screen would be the end of Android lol.

Design wise, they need to work towards minimizing the top and bottom bezels and increase the battery size.

Widgets Apple-style and I'd jump in a second. The only thing stopping me really is the bland iOS icon grid - having used both android and Windows phone I like havin more information visible to me without launching apps. And I think Apple could do widgets in a really nice way

Also, Apple TV is going to have to be damn impressive to pull me away from Xbox one. Even if the apps can occasionally be slow to start, it has plex and all my catchup services, with the killer feature of HDMI passthrough which is my primary input. Because of that, anything that requires me to switch inputs to consume video is already fighting an uphill battle.

HDMI passthrough like the original android TV set top boxes would be great. iOS notifications pushed to my TV etc.

So the rumors said that they are going to announce:
iPhone 6s/ 6s +
Apple TV 4th gen
iPad Pro
iPad mini 4

Will it a bit too packed?

For comparison
2014 September (~2hrs):
iPhone 6/6+
Apple Pay
Apple Watch

2014 October (less than 1.5 hrs):
iPad Air 2
iPad mini 3
Retina iMac
Mac mini

FYI, the longest keynote they have given is this year WWDC, which lasts for about 2.5 hrs

I don't think we'll get the iPads this time, it'll be Oct.

- iOS 9
- watchOS 2
- 6s/6s+
- Apple TV

might be couple other little things in there.

It's worth noting that this is just a rumor as well, and not confirmed. However, I wouldn't be surprised with their recent talk of iCloud as an 'option' for base models.

considering they are making strides (app thinning, reduced update size) to fit things on smaller devices, it's not entirely surprising.

When does App Thinning start to take effect? I guess when iOS 9 finally comes out? I assume so since devs can't currently submit apps for iOS 9 yet so they won't be able to put them up with the correct structure yet? According to WWDC all they'll have to do is separate the resources by device in the app structure and Apple will take care of the rest for making sure the unneeded resources are left behind. I really can't wait for this, but I don't have that much apps anyway and I don't even know if some of the bigger apps I have will even update.

Maybe they will actually. My biggest apps I currently have installed are FaceBook, Twitter, Messenger, Shazam and 1Password. Surely all of them could be trimmed down a bit. Though I don't know what makes FaceBook, Twitter and Messenger so big. They're mostly WebKit views and full of flat UI resources. The code surely couldn't be that big. Surely.

Do they ever release their OS upgrades at the same time? Like would we see iOS9, El Capitan, and watchOS2 on the same day?

No way.

I do find it odd that watchOS releases are currently separate from what we could assume are the hardware refreshes in the Spring. Who knows what happens, the Watch could get moved to the Fall like every Apple product has seen.

I think so if they really are going to announce an iPad pro they'll want a dedicated iPad event to talk about it along with the other models.

What happened last night?

During her Video of the Year acceptance speech at the VMAs, she thanked streaming sites that "care about the artist", specifically mentioning Apple Music and iTunes...lending a lot of credence that their twitter feud was a publicity stunt.

Better than nothing is not good though, it's just better than nothing.
I've used the new trackpad extensively and while i feel it's really incredibly great for a plane surface it totally lacks the tactile sensation of the edges which is what makes buttons infinitely better for gaming.
I stand with what i said, Force Touch will do close to nothing on the gaming on mobile experience.

Why downsize?
I have an iPad mini, and don't really need the screen real estate on my phone. iOS doesn't take too big of an advantage of it.

Unless there are some multitasking features to further differentiate it from the 6s, I'll enjoy having a smaller phone, even though the 6 plus has never been unwieldy since I have big hands. The only thing I may miss is battery life but I always have a charger nearby.

September 9th can't come soon enough. I need a new phone. My Lumia dropped into the ocean so I am rocking a dumbphone until the new iPhone releases.

Edit: I hope they change their european price policy. 899€ for an iPhone 6 plus 64GB are ridiculous if you can get the same phone for $849 in the US.

Saw this mLED speculation thread on MacRumors which I found interesting:

SR71 @ MacRumors forum said:
I've been reading up on Apple's purchase of LuxVue, the only company to be producing microLED displays, and it got me thinking... could this be the thing that the 6S get's updated with that no one sees coming? Although most display changes such as the size and resolution almost always correlate with complete redesigns (such as the iPhone 4, 5, 6, etc.), I do not think that a switch to microLED displays would be completely out of the question. My reasons for believing this are pretty simple.

Prior to the iPhone 5S, about a year and a half before it's release and right before Apple released the iPhone 5, Apple purchased AuthenTec. A little more than a year later they released the iPhone 5S with a fingerprint sensor using AuthenTec's technology. Similarly, a little more than a year ago right before the iPhone 6 was released Apple bought LuxVue (http://bit.ly/1U4hgm4). LuxVue produces power-efficient, super bright displays (up to 9 times brighter than current AMOLED and LCD displays) that experts are saying is the next big leap in display technology (http://bit.ly/1HZRYgl). Keep in mind this is coming from the person who created the pentile matrix used in Samsung's AMOLED displays, so it's not just anyone.

Anyways, onto my point. A little more than a year after Apple bought AuthenTec their technology was implemented into the iPhone. So similarly the same could happen with LuxVue's technology with the release of the 6S. Also, remember when everyone was completely shocked that the 5S had a 64-bit processor? Nobody saw it coming. Hell, nobody thought it was possible at the time. It took Qualcomm completely by surprise and forced them into rushing out their own 64-bit processor which ended up having problems with getting too hot.

Just as with their A7 64-bit processor, Apple could do the same thing this year and leapfrog the entire industry and surprise everyone with microLED. An explanation for the lack of leaks could be because of the now glued on metal plate on the back of the display in the 6S. This makes it harder to identify the display type because from the front it appears the same as any other iPhone display. This would also explain why there is only one flex cable on the leaked 6S display whereas on every past iPhone there have been two flex cables (one for the display, one for the digitizer/Touch ID) and the only other technology to use a single display connector is OLED.

This wouldn't classify as a change in resolution or size, which again correlate with major redesigns, but rather a huge bump in power efficiency, brightness (for outdoor viewing), etc. Power and efficiency are always notable improvements with S releases, so it's not like this would be out of the question.

If the smaller battery rumor turns out to be true, and with the addition of Force Touch, could they've implemented mLED to keep battery life to the same standard as previous models? Or would this be too costly to implement at this time? Thoughts?

If the A9 is 14/16nm and the modem chip is the 9x35, there are all your power savings to offset the smaller battery. Though, a better screen would help as well.

Yeah, I think there'll be an October iPad/Mac event. We're likely getting close to the point when the Magic Mouse/keyboards/trackpad/Thunderbolt Display all get an update and some Macs are gonna jump over to Skylake too.
