Haha Apple is so behind. A rectangular watch for $350 and U2.

Hire some young people, Tim.

What's wrong with rectangular watches?

It's forever kind of weird to watch this events, where the literal rock stars are like the fourteenth most exciting thing here and a watch is by far the most.

I just....I can't. This is too much.

David rides that Apple so hard... Dude should do porn

I use android phones so I wouldn't buy one, but the price seems about right, considering the sapphire crystal and steel. Suunto's Core Brushed Steel watch is probably a good comparison on price, since it's also steel with a sapphire crystal, and some additional features beyond just digital time functionality (e.g. altimeter, barometer, compass), but it's not a smart watch and doesn't have call or messaging notifications. It costs between $400 and $500.

I did think Apple's watch would be more elegant than it turned out to be though.

It's definitely the best looking smart watch yet both design and functionality wise but still a huge disappointment to me. I expected a fitnessband with some smartwach capabilities, not a full-on iPhone accessory.

I actually really like the design. The NFC and fitness stuff looks fantastic. Not sure why people expected this device to be completely independent of the iPhone. It's not feasible to pack in all the internals and a sufficient battery into a "watch friendly" form factor. At least... not yet. I really like the inclusion of NFC for payments.

My only complaint is the limited biometrics. I was hoping for more. The price sounds about right relative to history and market standards.

What's the status on iPhone 6 Ram? Still 1GB?
Yep. They would've made a deal about it otherwise, something like "the best phone, for multitasking, ever, made possible by, 2GB of state of the art ultra fast memory, which works closely with the CPU".

Becuase it's ugly.
Because it's seams more second screen for your iphone than smartwatch
Because competition is cheaper.

Well people bought the iPads for 500 bucks. I guess they will this too.

I didn't jump until tablets they hit 199.99 though and NOT apple.
Thank you Surface fire sale.

The Verge live blog is kind of embarrassing:

"There's still really no one that just stands there and rocks quite like U2."

Really?

The way they've handled editorial content on their site, can't give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's sarcasm. They might genuinely be serious.

It's definitely a luxury product. From my perspective, I could update my perfectly fine iPhone 5S to a newer model this year or the next or I could stick with it for 3-4 years and have a watch alongside it. Is that crazy? Both upgrades are a luxury, although to the phone upgrades credit I have an asset to sell if I decide to replace that device.

I was actually very hyped about the iWatch before, but this event caused me to lose all interest. And that emoji picture... Just terrible.

I'll still buy the iPhone 6 (4.7") though.
