So if I were to pre order on the apple site before my contract is up, but the phone actually ships right after my contract expires would the site know to give me my new verizon contract price on the phone? Or do I need to actually preorder at the verizon store?

I have this problem as well... contract is up on the 14th so no pre-orders for me.

Maybe it will force me to be sensible and actually wait for reviews!

Ya right, so because of Apple every other companies make devices just to copy? lol

Wearable are next big thing, Apple would be stupid not to jump on it.

Well yeah, I actually do think that.

Look at how every tech company was scrambling to put out a tablet once the iPad hit the scene. They all got caught with their pants down and apple rode the money wave solo for years. iPad became synonymous for any tablet device.

Rumors of Apple going big on wearables and the 'iWatch' is probably incentive enough to get plenty of R&D divisions fired up. Because we all know that there's a very real likelihood of the wearables market exploding whenever Apple enters the ring.

So if I were to migrate from Android to the iOS ecosystem buy I have almost all of my stuff tied to Google (email, music, etc) will I just be able to transition easily enough (especially with Google Play Music All Access)?

I don't use Play Music but there's an iPhone app so that should work the same I imagine.

For email you can link your gmail account to the default email app or download the gmail app if you wanted.

Pre-emptive strike!

For mail, you can use the stock apple mail client with your google account, or the gmail app. There is a google play music app as well.

Yep. I'm betting the iWatch will introduce one or two little things that we haven't seen yet that really gets the market going, just as they have in the past.

I don't think they are that comparable.

The iWatch has to do some pretty fucking amazing shit for it to take off and not be seen as a gimmick.

The iPad had its uses from day 1, even in spite of people calling it an oversize iTouch

Tried the HTC M8 and Galaxy Tab S.

Think I'll stick with Apple. Maybe with time I would get used to Android but it just didn't feel instant enough. The animations lagged/stuttered. Most people wouldn't notice but it was really frustrating. I also feel that doing things is quicker on iOS. I liked the style of the M8 though. Beautiful phone. But too big for me.

You will have to pre-order when your contract is up.

The system will not know that your contract will be up by the time it ships.

If I actually go into Verizon and tell them that do you think they'll just give me the renewal price? I may just try that. We have a Verizon store here in town.

I know it won't happen but I would love for a same day announcement and release. I'm going to be so hyped up during the announcement only to have to wait the ten days. I think I'm mostly going to be nervous about getting my preorder in on time. When did verizon do theirs with the 5s? I'm switching to them so it'll be my first time. From what I remember they seemed to have the best handle on it out of the other carriers. T-Mobile was a shit show really.

I reserve judgement until I have the phone in my hands. Pictures never do a phone justice.

I want to feel this way too but I just can't...

I thought the leaked iphone 4 and 5 designs were both good, but the leaked iphone 6 images all look hideous. I hope I am wrong and when I get the phone in my hand it looks gorgeous.

I don't like the slim volume buttons, the power button being on the side, it's back looking ugly as hell..

Welp, seems like I gotta keep my iPhone 4 as long as possible, hope it serves me another year, going strong for 4 years already,.
But Safari often crashes under iOS 6.1 and it hasn't enough ram for iOS7, would make it lag a lot..

Seems like I'd have to go with an 5s if I want a decent looking phone again.

If they would just keep an updated four inch phone then they could make as many big phones as they want and I wouldn't mind
But it seems they're abandoning the compact phone

This is gonna come off as a really uninformed post probably, but does iOS have a swipe-down notifications tray like Android yet?

I have had an absolutely miserable time with my Galaxy S3 and I really want to switch over but there are just little things about Android that I like too much to give up.

Yes it does.

It has that and now has swype so theres not many reasons to go with android anymore (in my opinion)

The GS3 is a pretty terrible device though. If you want to switch over, you'll certainly find an overall truly pleasant and polished experience. But Android has quite a lot to offer, too. Far, far more than what a GS3 can.
Just buy a Motorola/Nexus device (the Nexus 6 is probably less than two months away).

If only they had de-syncing notifications. I hate going from iPad to iPhone and it's full of notifications I already dealt with on the iPad. They do de-sync with Facetime but nothing else, so why can't they do that?

Thanks guys. So I theoretically wouldn't have to deal with text messages popping up in the middle of my screen?

edit:

My main issue - and this was true for the last Android phone I had as well - is that the device just turns into a slow, glitchy, shit-battery, near-unusable brick after about a year's time. All the while I see my parents and others' iPhones chugging along just fine after two years. Have Android phones gotten better in this regard? Have I just been unlucky?

I gots me an £800 Apple Store card readied. If I can't preorder one I'll join the Meadowhall queue as usual. Hoping for a 5.5 in 64GB.

They do have those. It's up to the app to support it though. Works for iMessage and twitter. Doesn't seem to work for Facebook.

Well, they could start with the Apple apps. Their own Mail app is the most pressing issue for me.
