I kind of hope they announce a 8GB iPad Mini that is cheap. I figure it should be enough when I'll only use it for writing and reading purposes. Though I don't know if I should go with the 3G version as it has aGPS so I can use it as a GPS while driving but my iPhone could do that.

looks like there were no last minute leaks overnight.

interesting that they're streaming to Apple TV only. I guess that's one way to keep bandwidth under control.

I'm sticking with my prediction: 250 entry model with 8GB. beyond that, I don't know if they'll stick with 100 bucks for double the storage or bring that price down like they did with the old ipod touch models this year (50 bucks to go from 16 to 32 GB).

Another prediction (hope). I will be buying a new 27" imac in the next 4 weeks.

$300 for 16GB and consider it ordered. A dollar more or a gig less and I'll get another 7-incher.

I am more and more convinced that a 7" tablet is the best device for me for watching/reading content. I am used to using my iPhone for everything from browsing GAF to watching Netflix and iTunes rentals in bed, so a 7" screen will feel like a lot of real estate. The one thing I can't do very well is read comics and books, which I think a 7" would be just fine for. An iPad is a little too heavy and large (and expensive) for me. Not much more portable than a laptop, nearly as expensive, and far less versatile.

I wonder what this will do to the next iPad's sales.

looking at it again, it reads like the store from when they put up the 15 inch retina, which is why it says retina and new 13 and 15 inch models, which also explains the price

$350 with retina and 16GB and I'll buy one. Retina is more important to me than price, but reports seem to indicate it's not happening

What is it you love about your Apple TV? Serious question, no agenda.

It's the best device I own for Netflix, Hulu, renting new releases, and streaming all my media, either locally from my computer, iPad, iPhone, or direct from iCloud. AirPlay rocks.

That little hockey puck is a steal at $99.

Yup 299 and 16GB or no buy. Even if it's 329 and 16GB, it's no buy. It may sound silly to quibble over 30 dollars, but it's just a line I won't cross on principle.

It's amazing how long mobile device makers have been riding this 8GB "baseline". Everything else continues to improve, but that's been the standard since 2007.

Well I have 2 that I love. 1 for living room and 1 for bedroom.

reasons I love it.

- Netflix and youtube on both tvs
- No need for an ariel or tv service in bedroom as I can stream freeview from my iphone to the TV using the "catch up TV app"
- My dvd collection, tv progs and music on my laptop can be played straight to either tv, even 2 different things at once to each tv set.

converting to MP4 doesn't bother me at all by the way so that isn't an issue for me.

So yeah I love those things for those features.

What do you use it for that you need 3? Serious question as I might buy one for my Mom for her birthday (she has an OG iphone 4).

I have one on the 52" TV in the family room and my daughters both have one in their rooms. We use them to stream movies from my PC that has a 3 TB HDD attached. Also, use it for Netflix and my daughters watch youtube on them.

I also Airplay video podcast from my iPhone 4S to the Apple TV. Great little device.

Apple TV sounds like your average Bluray Player/Smart TV/Game Console/Cable Box/Media Center PC/Set-top Box/Tablet with HDMI out to me. No idea why I'd spend money on it when everything else I already have has Netflix and DNLA. That and game consoles do a significantly better job at everything and I don't know many people who don't own a couple of those.

I just don't see the allure.

It's dirt cheap and beaming photos and videos from your iOS device using Airplay is really nice. I use mine for that (easier than passing the phone around) and when I have people over, I have a slideshow playing with classical music, all streamed from my iMac. (AppleTV is connected to my living room TV, iMac is in the basement).

As a part of the Apple ecosystem it's hard to pass up at the price.

Are we expecting iPad Mini to be thinner than iPad 2?
Because I am, with all this talk about ultra thin.
Though it don't look that thin based on the mockups alone.

I wouldn't mind getting one for my bedroom TV. The newest thing connected to it is a GameCube.

Cheap
Tiny
Silent
Use hardly any power
I dont own a console (sold my xbox ages ago)
I dont have a smart TV (dont need one as I have ATV boxes)
The netflix interface is a damn sight nicer than the website one
You can take it to a friends house... plug in and you have netflix there.
Any apps on my phone can be used on either TV.

Plenty of reasons to have them.

If you have a smart tv or happily use your console to do all this then sure... there is no reason to have one. However many people have different set ups in there home.

Can't compete with any device that also includes Amazon since Amazon video on demand far and away owns iTunes in specials/deals.

IF you own other idevices and newer laptops its a great device. Airplay streaming is awesome. So seamless.

Apple TV is great if you have an iPhone or a Mac. It's no-brainer if you're totally into Apple's ecosystem, AirPlay is awesome and now includes Macs.
