Applying for jobs is exhausting and soul-crushing

Got interview to be basically a debt collector today. On the one hand $10-15 full time with benefits, on the other, I'm a debt collector who calls you 25-30 times a day ):

I passed my first interview and then a week later they sent me an excel test. Passed that and on Monday I have a 2nd interview with the COO and head of HR. If I do well in this I get to interview with the CEO. This whole process has taken 2.5 weeks already but hopefully it pays off.

This is all after sending dozens of resumes out. The only place that reached out haha. Living by 2 very good colleges but not being a grad from either sucks when people look to hire.

Had a guy from a major entertainment corporation schedule a phone screen with me yesterday, but he didn't call. I emailed him and he apologized, so we setup another call a few hours later. He missed that too. It's incredibly unprofessional considering how well known the company is. I emailed again and asked when we could reschedule, but no word back yet.

I do have an offer from another company that I'm considering, but I'd much rather work for these guys and they're dropping the ball hard.

Probably testing you to see how much shit you'll put up with and how bad you want it. I've had companies do that before.

waiting for a telephone interview call that is due in -5 minutes.

It's somehow more nervewracking to me than going to a job interview. Damn.

So went through two interviews in past week. One was for business process analysis and other for business intelligence(database) work. This is an interesting predict ament as this will /can dictate what work I do in IT. Only way this will be an easier decision is if one rejects me.

Man I am ufff, I don't even know what. Trying to find a Thesis Internship here in Germany (doing it abroad), applied for a few back in December, spots that I'm pretty much tailored to with my education and projects, thought for sure I'd get at least an interview. But they took over 1 month (!!!!) to even decide that they didn't want me for an interview!!

Holy crap! I've never experienced anything like this and it left me scrambling, now I'm still scrambling after 1 1/2 months and still not even an interview. I've never had this much trouble in my life :( And now I'm realizing the month+ wait is apparently the norm here in Germany. Normally I'd have a response within one to two weeks. I really don't understand why this would take so long and why they're not even interested for an interview.

Called up some HR people who denied me, asking the reason why, they didn't even want to give me any. One said that she didn't know, but it 'might have been' that others were more qualified. Which is really weird to me, since my curriculum was super close to what they were asking, I've gotten an award, and have gotten only high grades.

My previous internship was at the level of a Thesis as well (did everything on my own, from research to prototype). So yeah, the only way I can see others as being more qualified is if they've had more than the semester of working experience in the same field.

Totes panicking right now since I really need an internship FAST, I'm already too late for graduating in July, now I need to find one quick so I can graduate in August, otherwise I'm stuck graduating in November, and then I'll have a half year delay to start my Masters.

Anyone here from Germany that knows how/where to get a Thesis internship in the field of Software Engineering fast?

I've been applying for jobs every other day since December and it's so frustrating I'm not getting any replies. I wanted to move out of my mother's house before my birthday, but here I am.

Been applying for job since September, got rejection and no reply. :(

It doesn't help that my dad is on my back and thinking that I am not applying to jobs or pretending to apply to jobs.

Just gotta wait and eventually my luck will change and someone will say yes.

2 interviews tomorrow. Has to work out this time!

Oh my god did I fuck up :(
First interview was ok-ish. I was only asked knowledge questions and I guess a lot were not things they teach at university although this was for an entry level position.
Fortunately, I prepared some stuff from the training sessions that I missed while being sick from my last internship but I only looked through half of the slides quickly (week long training...). At least I could answer some of the questions.
The interviewer mentioned several times that I am usually too old for the entry position and he is not sure if I would even get it or only an internship first because of missing experience. I am older than the usual graduate but I fail to see how it can be a problem for them, it is more of one for me. In the end, they invited me so I don't know why it had to come up so often.
If I got through, I still have to do an assessment center though and I guess that will be a bitch.

Second interview went super bad. They also only asked knowledge questions but not the ones I expected (I was referred to from a previous job interview and he gave me some advice on what to prepare for).
I locked up and couldn't answer a super easy question, I have to punch myself for that :/
Other than that, I felt like all the other questions were asked poorly and not well defined. I couldn't really gather what they wanted to know exactly most of the time. Sometimes, the answers were so obvious I couldn't believe that they wanted that answer so I didn't really reply because I thought they wanted something else. Sometimes, they wanted weird details on things.
Interview only went 40-45 minutes so that wasn't good at all. Still, they asked some questions at the end that they wouldn't need if they already rejected me or at least I hope so. Maybe it was just to be nice though :(

I am so angry with myself because I thought I would do well on that interview and I could probably have, if I wasn't so nervous and the questions would have been asked more defined.

Back to back interviews on short notice with traveling over 500km was a bad experience :(

I know that feeling bro :(
Everyone thinks you are a lazy slob while you actually try and are already stressed out enough from not getting any positive feedback.

Sounds like the company I work for.. you aren't in Orlando, right?

Don't beat yourself up about it too much. Sometimes a bad interview is just you not matching up well with interviewer. Remember you're also evaluating the job at the interview. If you're feeling nervous and stressed out interviewing, do you think that's going to change if you work there?

I had probably the worst interview of my life about 4 months ago, for a job I was well qualified for, and probably would have been a good fit for. I was very excited about the company, so I was pretty bummed about it, and really felt like I blew it. In hindsight, I would probably just not have worked well with the guy that interviewed me. In subsequent interviews I found I was a lot more comfortable with other people.

Just started my search.

Did my first real cv for over 13 years, preparing to leave the only company I have ever really worked for (full time, proper contract).

I'm fed up of it already. Applying for jobs which I think I could do in my sleep, but hearing nothing back off them.

I think my CV might be a bit shit, are there any (good) companies out there that check over your CV and recommend areas of improvement?

It's been two years since I graduated and I've changed my CV a few times and I haven't been able to find a job yet.

It sucks really.

I just called the company where I had an interview 3 weeks ago. They told me that they have found someone else a couple of days ago. How nice of them to not call me.

Anyway, next interview in an hour. Maybe this time :(

Good luck!
Thanks, but it didn't went that well :(
Came 15 minutes late because I just couldn't find them. The conversation was only 5 minutes long, but at least they want me to do trial work on Thursday and Friday.

Tomorrow I have another interview at a temporary employment agency.
Edit: They just called and postponed it 2 weeks :(

I should probably just go back to school in summer if neither of them want me :/

Second round of phone interviews: "Human resources will be in touch!"

So that is what the kiss of death feels like.

"all positions are filled now, but we'll contact you when we have an opening!"
job listing remains on site.

I know this feel.

It sucks because I need the money to go back to school since I don't qualify for any financial aid as a postgrad.

I am very much behind on where I thought I'd be by now. Having to move in back home and all.

Oh boy my second interview is tomorrow morning, I barely prepared for the first one at all (basically nothing) but for the second one I've only prepared a little.

I just couldn't really think of what I could prepare, so I'm pretty damn nervous.

Yeah, I was out of work for over a year when I came back from living in Japan for 5 years. There was a million reasons why I was out of work for so long. I applied for every job that I really wanted to get - and, some that I didn't really want.

I ended up getting a job watching transmissions on mainframe computers and a couple of weeks ago I learned that my shift (the night shift) is being outsourced to India in the near future.

I am not looking forward to going back to that struggle.

I want to keep applying for jobs in America, but I am at this bad stage where I am living in Omaha and I want to get a job in California but I am going to get laid off soon and I need to start saving money for when that happens.

Should I just say fuck it and move out to Cali? Should I move back to Japan? Should I continue trying to struggle in Omaha, while not really being that happy?

It sucks and it sucks to think about. Good luck.

Recently got laid off a couple of weeks ago so I have been out there on the job market. I have interviewed with two different companies so far. One company is smaller but has an EXTREMELY intense new hire process:

2HR - Initial phone interview with HR Recruiter
2HR - Interview with manager of department
2HR - Interview with team lead
6HR- Interviews with 2-3 members from each IT department.

So hopefully I get a call back this week for one of these positions.

OH MY GOD, was texting with some friends while in gym. They asked me about the interviews and I was complaining how shitty it went when I got the call and the job offer at a big 4 company for audit. Not at the location and position I preferred but still something I am very satisfied with.

So damn happy right now, over a year of unemployment really made a dent in my life. Thought it would be easier right after graduating. Incredible that the worst interview in my opinion led to a job offer. Now it is time for apartment hunting, it won't be easy.

I hope you guys all land on your feet soon as well.

That's great news! I guess after being unemployed for that long, any position you can get is worthwhile. Hopefully you find something to like about it and maybe it'll grow into something better in a year or two.

Nervous as shit for this second interview. I am not used to sleeping early so I don't think I slept all that well.

I got nothing to lose really.

Edit

Went alright. I feel the same whateverness as last time.

I think the non manager at the interview was thrown off since I found out he worked there for 2 years from his LinkedIn. Didn't realize it could be bad to look it up sometimes. The manager was really open about telling me about his time here though.

Then came the excel test...one thing I didn't know but the rest I did it.

The manager handed me a background check sheet as well...dunno if these mean anything.

Exactly what happened to me last month. Didn't get selected for an interview (took em one and a half months to decide), phoned to call why see if I had something stupid on my CL/CV. She didn't want to tell me anything, said to me that maybe it had something to do with qualifications, but she didn't know really. Now, one and a half months later, IT'S STILL OPEN. And I was by all means perfectly, perhaps even overqualified for that position, pff.

Take that as a good sign. They would not do a background check if they are not interested.

Left my job of 3 years last month for a change in career. Lasted one week in the new job before walking out as it was ridiculous. First time i have been out of work since i left school and i have never been so stressed. Out of the 20+ jobs i have applied for I've heard back from 2 so far. I have an interview tomorrow though so fingers crossed!

Got an interview Monday evening at a local production company! Kinda exciting.

I already have a pretty good job, but a production company fits my skill set better than my current graphic design position. My only fear is it being a possible pay cut and maybe working evenings for sporting events and the like.

Guess that's what interviews are for!
