Wait, people hate Mortal Kombat now?
On GAF, yeah..is not even a real fighting game....
Only like 3 people (includine myself) like it..
So I post the news for the other 2. :p

Why? The old ones were supremely awesome, and the brief play time I had with the PS2 ones was hella fun. Is this typical GAF "it's not a 2D anime fighter with 20-press long button combos so it's not a real fighter" shtick?

No, it's because the new games were really shitty fighters. The Shaolin Monks title was awesome but Deadly Alliance and it's sequels were awful.

Every PS2 ear MK has been an abortion. The series has fallen on hard times.

Well..
Let's just say that..I won't say anything else. ;) (Don't want to derail this thread even more)

I know GAF in general hates MK, but I usually post MK news (since is the only "new news" noone else will probably post here)..but I know there are people with no accounts and even a few that do have accounts that read and enjoy MK-related stuff. :)

In any case..
The website is Ed Boon's personal website, which he hasn't updates in..centuries..
Yet it recently started getting those teasers/countdowns..and all seem to coincide with the April event and the upcoming release of the game..

I love MK 1, 2, 3, 4 and Trilogy. The others can go to hell.

BUT, Boon said this NEW MK would completely different from the last ones. This MIGHT be a good thing.

I had fun with Deadly Alliance and Deception, I think they're better games than most people give them credit for. Armageddon put me off due to the lame choose-your-own-fatality system. And as a spin off, Shaolin Monks was a lot of fun.

I'll keep my eye on the new generation version.

They should do a Capcom and hand draw all of the sprites again and release MK. I am not sure 3d is really working for the MK series. Plus adding RPG, Koin Kollection *shudders* and Kombat Karts is a no-no for the MK series. Get back to fighting and ripping the spleens out of our enemies.

Here another example of the incompetence of French people to traduce a joke. In english it's funny because its "do not want" and not "i don't want".

Now in french, to keep the funny it should have been: "Pas vouloir".

Cmon guys. We grew up on MK, cut it a little slack. I'm interested to see what the next integration looks like.

Is ultimate mortal kombat on DS anything like triology?
Triology? :p
Anyway..
Nope..
Ultimate Mortal Kombat (DS) = Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (Arcade) + Puzzle Kombat (PS2)

A nearly arcade perfect port of UMK3..basically, only that the 3 hidden characters are easier to unlock (require less codes) and stuff you unlock from Shao Kahn's treasure chest is automatically saved.. (bios, endings, etc..)

Typo :( I'm going to edit it now so everyone will think you are stoopid. And poo, why can't they just port trilogy, it was the perfect MK game

It's not even correct french, because "I don't want" is "Je ne veux pas"

You guys don't understand. They're taking a completely different approach with next-gen Mortal Kombat. I remember reading an article about this a long time ago and it got me hyped. I forget the details.. it's just not going to be a new MK with a next-gen coat of paint, it's going to be something that nobody expects. If I had to guess, I'd say some sort of major online component / MMO elements.

Yes, if I had to predict, I bet it will revitalize the franchise.

Anyone remember the article I was referring to? I forget if it was in a magazine (EGM?) or on a site. It was over a year ago, I think.

Here is one quote:
"On the next game, we're going to start new, with a bunch of brand new characters, a whole new fighting system, a new presentation with the new graphics for the new consoles, as well as a new control scheme to take advantage of some of the new technology available. We thought it was a good time to close this chapter and open a new one with every single aspect of Mortal Kombat -- It's going to be brand new."

The French clearly need you and your "traducing" skills.

The main MK games are pretty awful but I would love a Shaolin Monks sequel on PS3/360, preferably with online co-op.
