Great episode. Madame Xanadu was awesome, especially that dark magic bit and seeing imaginary Darkh and Deathstroke play ball with Oliver's body was great :D
Lots of great stuff everywhere too. Diggle's shootouts were fun and him killing his brother. Nice.

And even Thea got great subplot. Yeah..her lovers turning out to work for enemy is getting hilariously predictable, but the whole quiet town in a bunker was such a fun thing so I don;t mind.

And thank God they reigned in Felicity love. For a moment there I thought they would have her learn how to repell Darkh, which would be just plain hilariously bad :D But instead they got Olie to do it. And when he did it was pretty damn satisfying. That hook arrow->drag->slam move was pure awesomeness too.

Overall a great great episode. More of those please.

Still really weird to have Arrow delivering higher quality episodes than Flash.

It did deliver them consistently almost week by week before the break. It's shame they had to deliver the stretch of weak drama BS episodes post-break. But looks like this is done now and we can sail gloriously towards the end.

Let me get straight, the whole world´s nukes are in a chip, and that chip in Leila´s arm, yet there is barely any kind of protection to hold off people from destroying the world? Too dumb. Otherwise pretty good episode.

When Ollie mentioned Constantine and a magician, i was so hoping for Zatanna :(

or Zatara, or one of the Doctor Fates,

I was SO hoping that the shaman was Zatanna, she's even in a casino! That was such a huge let down.

So as I predicted, Genesis is the flood and the corn fields are Noah's Ark. But I wonder how they got that entire thing built down there, wonder if it was a cave caused by the Earthquake machine.
Loved the episode, aside from that DeathStroke moment. Should have gotten Matt Nable or Manu in there and made it longer.

A great flood destroys the world, the thing we see under the city is the arc of Noah.

Zatanna is too big for such cameo. She's pretty much a certain series regular for any magic-based DC show CW might do in the future, so casting her now would be really inconvienient down the road.

I dunno, Zatanna has been a minor character on like every DC show. Most of the animated stuff, Smallville too. A fully mystical DC show probably won't hit while Supernatural is still kicking.

The only thing keeping mystic DC down is the whisper of the Justice League Dark movie.

It seems clear they can't use Zatanna for the moment, it doesn't even seem they used Madame Xanadu. They made an original character, losely based around her. If they can't even fully do her, then Zatanna would certainly be off the table.

So another bad episode?

No, a great one. Best in season:
  • Great action
  • big revelations
  • plot moving forward
  • magical hijinks
  • and most importantly no Laurel in sigh.

Life is good again in Star City

An OK episode. I facepalmed at Ollie's 'darkness' scenes, especially the ring being given back. What a cunt, caring about his son. Clearly the darkest path.

It still looks like they can't use any of the relevant characters, outside of name dropping Constantine.

Or might have not being able to when planning out the season. I think stuff like this probably takes a long time to get greenlit, and that episode was likely filmed in march.
The rumors of Dark Universe being iced also are very fresh and it's possible they got scared after BvS and want to concentrate on more tradional IPs for now.

So the embargo might end sooner or later if JLD movie is really dead.
Or they could just say screw it and do another line-up with Constantine as a lead. There's awful lot of great magical beings in DCverse who could fit such team for a tv show.

So,I know it is not true, but it still happens to me a lot when I watch Flash and then Arrow:

To me, very often, Arrow feels like the show with the higher budget.
I know, I know, Flash has like tons of CGI wizardry and stuff and we had Killer Shark of all things, but I don't know if it's just me being a bit older and remembering 80's action movies and such but whenever I see the practical stunts and the chases and such in Arrow, I kinda feel "this is way more dynamic and big than Flash".

I don't know what it is.
It's weird I know and factually wrong.
But I just feel watching stuntmen do their thing impresses me more than Flash CGI.

I actually dreamed about that. Even in my dreams they denied it.

Indeed, it is a distinct possibility that they just couldn't retrieve those rights at that point. On the other hand, Warner Bros still sucks at those parts. They claimed last year separate versions on television and film are no problem. We saw how much of that was a lie.

Gig

One man's junk is another man's treasure
Andy's reaction after Diggle shot him was priceless, like he thought that after all he did and egging John on he still won't shoot him. Great performance by Eugene Byrd in this episode.

not eve 10 mins in, why isn't Felicity dead yet.

Fucking goddamn man.

Comments like these are really unnecessary. We get it, you hate Felicity. My guess is if they killed her, you'd hate someone else on the show. It's just obnoxious at this point.

So Darhk wants to destroy the world and rebuild in his underground dome? Zoom's not going to have much of a world to conquer but I suppose he can run back through the breach with his tail between his legs.

Not just that. The beauty of Darkh's plan is essentially him becoming a God. Because if killing dozens, maybe hundreds people gave him this much of magical mojo, imagine what killing over 7 billion will.

My exact reaction.

I have come to the conclusion that I actually really like Felicity.

What I dislike is the obsession the writers seem to have with her and Oliver as a unit.

Agreed. I don't care about the relationship they have and I don't mind her character, but why do they seem to have an obsession with including her everywhere?

Felicity is a great character when she's kept as a side character and stories don't awkwardly shift in order to make everything about her

Great episode, holy shit...haven't enjoyed Arrow in a very, VERY long time.

David Ramsey CAN carry the show if they'd let him~

Episode's a mixed bag.

Ramsey's acting carried the episode, plot progressed decently. Felicity wasn't crying this episode, which is great. But I feel Darhk's plan was barely developed at all. All we've seen him do before this episode is grow corn, and now he's ready to go "final phase" by stealing a really handy nuke launcher hidden in a person instead of some top security vault.

The magic bit was so damned stupid. It took a single conversation, without instruction, for Oliver to learn "light magic". In all of 7 minutes an immortal shaman declared that he'll not be able to pull it off and sends him away, only for him to pull it off against the season big bad without any training, "because Felicity". Now that we know that magic will no longer work against him, the tension is all but completely gone when they eventually face off in the final battle.

Can someone tell me the budget per episode for Arrow, Legneds & Flash since Supergirl is 3 million per episode

There are no official numbers, but they are probably around $2 to $2.5 million. That is of course partially recouped in tax breaks and sales, where CBS won't be able to get this from Supergirl.

This show has absolutely zero tension anymroe. I don't know if it's the acting or the story, but I'm at wits end here with this show and only still watching out of obligation. Laurel's death didn't impact me in the slightest. I don't even know what it will take at this point to make this show interesting again.

TVLIne has some spoilers:

Question: Anything on Thea’s arc for Arrow‘s final episodes of the season? —Jill
Ausiello: As hinted in our May Sweeps Preview package, Thea, in the wake of Laurel’s death (and arriving in her new suburban “home”!), is really going to be grappling with the question of ‘Did she become Speedy because of the Lazarus Pit, or did she become Speedy because that’s actually who she is and what she wants to do?'” says showrunner Wendy Mericle. When that question is answered by the May 25 finale, “She will have a clear sense of who she is and what she wants.” And during that soul-searching journey, “She will also be facing an old foe,” Mericle teases.

Question: What can you spill about the return of Felicity’s father on Arrow? —Mellie
Ausiello: You can expect that icy parent/child relationship to “deepen significantly” when Tom Amandes reprises his role as Noah “The Calculator” Kuttler starting May 11. Says EP Wendy Mericle, “We know that Felicity will be really exploring, ‘Is she a Smoak or is she a Kuttler?’ — and having her father there and potentially seeing him in a different light will raise some good character questions for her. She will see him in a new light. We all will.”
