Attack On Titan live action film first look at characters

Those look like Hunger games posters. Like the bow, just why? Either way it looks interesting. But where is my season 2:( ?

Aren't the characters supposed to be German? That's what I always assumed based on character names, the look of the architecture, and the German in the intro song.

Sind sie das essen? Nein, wir sind die Jager!

It's an "in the spirit of _____ character" kind of adaption.

Black haired Armin?

Honestly, if there was one character I hoped would be cast white it's her to get those blue eyes and blond hair look without contacts and a wig (which look way too fake).
And yes, her wonderful and distinguished trademark of aquiline nose!!! That is like NEVER seen in anime/mange unless it's on an old character :P (or 90% of the "Londoners" in the K-on Movie

Yeah, certainly one of the most unique looking ones from the show.

There's tons of German stuff in the show, and overall it's a big mix of europe. Too bad that the German movie industry would never even try to tackle a project like that. (Or maybe it's for the better. Don't even want to imagine an Uwe Boll version, lol)

They have rocket launchers in Attack on Titan?

They used bows in attack on Titan?

I believe Sasha used a bow in the cooking OVA when they had to catch a huge warthog or something.
They have never used rocket launchers though, if they had them they wouldn't be using those inaccurate cannons lol.

For those who keep doing drive-by posts saying "It's probably gonna be terrible CGI!". Please stop. I mean, it was already posted by based on the commercial the SFX involved in the film did, that won't be the case in the least bit.

Before CG, we had costumes and practical effects. Japan excels at this (in most cases).

There are plenty of legit reasons to start the 15 page bitching fest, so let's use those and not made up ones.

This...This doesn't look bad at all. Colour me imoressed.

Because cross race cosplay worked out so well in Cloud Atlas. Let the dudes hair stay black. For that matter, arnt the characters like 15~17, the actors are a good bit over that too.

Either way Mikasa was half white half asian/japanese (dont remember if they specified) the actress here is half korean if I remember right... maybe thinking of another model but she looks damn good in everything I've seen her on. Pretty good casting on her part though who knows about the acting, that goes for everyone.

Like all live action adaptations its a pretty big coin flip of being completely fucking stupid, to "watchable but since it wasn't the anime I will complain like its the biggest offense in history, even though its secretly pretty damn good all things considered but I cannot ever say that because ANIME!"

More interested in the Patlabor movie >.> personally.

Mikasa looks perfect. I'd like to see her (or another actress like her) if Hollywood made a good live action adaption.

I imagine this will be as bad as most live-action adaptations of manga/anime are.

Have you seen Kenshin's movies? If not, you might like them! I actually really enjoyed the 1st. Looking forward to getting a blu ray sub copy of the 2nd and 3rd movies once those come out.

I gave up hoping for accuracy on live action anime movies when Higurashi no Naku didn't bother to do hair color(understandable) simple recognizable hairstyles(why not?) or even try the different uniforms.

A made up race in a fictional setting so it's no biggie, plus she doesn't really look drastically different to anyone in the show skin color wise or anything.

At least the aesthetic looks right and they're casting Asians over bland white guy #230

Wait, what? I guess you are referring to the manga because in the anime they point out she's Asian.

Casting is like the last thing I expect to complain about in live action anime adaptations. I mean the fact that it's even getting green lit is a miracle in most cases. I'll see a billion shoujo/slice of life manga adaptations but only a handful like this.

Non-blonde Armin is weirding me out. But that one crazy Titan researcher chick using an rpg is pretty swell.

Y'know this show could really benefit from an American Hollywood adaption tbh. Give it to Del Toro yo. And imagine like WETA doing the Titans with a huge budget. Would be glorious. And to please Hollywood and their constant demand for the marketable white people, most of the characters are already Europeanish, so no real whitewashing should happen, just make sure Mikasa is played by an asian since that's important

Training + Trost is all they needed. Whyyyyyyy.

That doesn't really factor into the plot at all. Mikasa's mother being the last living Asian person is the crux of her backstory though so it'll be interesting to see what they do with that.

Mikasa looks bi-racial, so they are just going to do an inversion. Works for me. Also, the perfect counter-argument for white-wash whining.

Don't know how it will work with the West-European aesthetic. (Specifically German, imo) They might just be abandoning it for a modern setting, which will blow.

I dont know why y'all are going so crazy over the race of characters in a Japanese made manga being turned into a Japanese made movie.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually focused on the multiple OCs they created for this movie and using the manga characters was simply the draw.

That lens flare tho.

Fucking awesome.

I'm not sure why, exactly, but I'm really looking forward to this. Only live adaptations of anime I've ever seen (that I know of, anyway) are the Death Note movies and a Sailor Moon musical, and there's something about the way those characters and worlds were brought to life that I found incredibly charming. I can only imagine how they'll go about doing that with Attack on Titan.

This is something I'd be eager to see in a theatre, for sure. I hope it makes it over here.

Seeing as Japan is like 98% Japanese. Not sure what any of you were expecting with the casting choices. I'd rather see Japanese actors/actresses in the role than a bunch of Davido-kuns.

On the cast selection, producer Yoshihiro Sato said he did not pay as much attention to whether or not the cast members looked like the original characters. Instead, he had many discussions with Attack on Titan manga creator Hajime Isayama and went with actors who could act out the "characters' spirits."

Translation:
"We're only casting Japanese actors, shut up."

You want filler?

Nope. But, we don't want Berserk, either. like 15 years later and all we ever got was 3 movies that retold the same story we already saw in the show. The last two of them were killer, though. Glad they did it, but damn I want to see the next arc bad.
